Throughout my high school career I always knew what I wanted to do. that was to become an airline pilot. With this dream in mind I had no way of paying for all of the certifications that go along with it. Then I was presented with the opportunity to go to Tri-County Technical Center(TCTC) for their commercial truck driving program. Now throughout the last semester I have obtained my Class B licence and working on my class A permit. That brings us to present day and my project. My project consists of learning about the inner workings of our detachable trailer at TCTC. When I say inner workings I mean, how to pre trip the trailer, how to load and unload, and attach and detach both sections. I will have a video in my slide show showing the the product
There are many types of native animals that live in the location of Lake Doonella. Although during the field walk there were not many visible animals, it was made clear that snakes and many animals live here, as during the walk snakes skin was discovered in the bush approximately three meters from Lake Donella’s shoreline. Insects such as spiders live here too, but don't usually walk around with humans around or other predators. Most koalas and types of birds are extremely native to the location. Sea animals were not seen during the field walk such as fish as they live in the water.
The purpose of this lab is to gain a greater understanding of the factors that contribute to the phenomenon of mudboils and the causation behind the 1993 Bare Mountain landslide in the Tully Valley region of New York and its effects on the surrounding Onondaga area.
Many people define their lives by the relationships within their family. They are someone’s daughter, someone’s wife, or someone’s mother or father. The loss of a family member, especially due to death, creates a radical readjustment to people’s day to day lives and how they see and feel about themselves. Sometimes the process of grief can last over several years and how it is mentally processed and dealt with is different for everyone. “Mud” by Geoffrey Forsyth, shows an insightful view of a grieving man who had already lost his father and grandmother and is now just coming to terms with the loss of his wife two years prior. The entire story is written in first person point of view which allows for the reader to fully engage themselves in the grief and strife of the narrator’s life. Geoffrey’s story “Mud” begins in the home of the narrator where he encounters these dead family members and has to decide if he is ready to move on from his grief and say goodbye or stay behind and be consumed by it.
Sometimes it came in degrees, like the cold; sometimes you were very brave up to a point and then beyond that point you were not so brave.” (O’Brien, 141). For some reason, Bowker just couldn’t pull himself together and pull Kiowa out of the mud, he was hesitant. When Bowker, O’Brien, Cross, and others refer to the mud field, they all still have vivid detail. They can’t forget the smell, they can’t forget what has been ingrained into their mind.
Muddy was not the only musical talent in the family. His father Ollie was well-known amongst locals as a very skilled singer, guitarist, and washboard-player. This seemed to fuel Muddy’s interest in music, as he began to learn how to play a variety of instruments. He improvised by turning a kerosene can into a drum, which became his first instrument, and that was followed by the accordion, a harp, and a box and stick that he made into his first guitar. He recalled, “Couldn’t do much with it, but that’s how you learn! ” (Roots,
On Thursday, August 31, 2017 at approximately 2232 hours, I was dispatched to a residence across the street from 2220 University St in reference of a suspicious person inside of a black truck. The particular community I consider to be affiliated with is the local dirt track race car community. Dirt track racing is a sport in which race cars perform on a dirt or clay surfaced oval track. There are various race car classes that range from Hornets which are considered the least expensive all the way up to the Modified, which is the most expensive class of race car to run on the race track. I personally identify myself to be included in such a community due to the fact that ever since I was the age of four, my father took up the sport of racing Modified’s every weekend from March to October, and this is ultimately how I was introduced to the race track family (community). At the age of six my brother was very intrigued by the sport of racing and convinced my father to allow him to follow in his footsteps, and also pursue the love and dedication for the sport.

In the article “Rescue crews scramble to find missing in California mudslides as 10K evacuated in Montecito” the authors, Matt Gutman and Bill Hutchinson, explain the events that happened on Thursday when Montecito experienced torrential rain and mudslides. They continue by describing the effects that it has had on those living there as well as local businesses that have been affected. Between all of the writings they have posted pictures allowing those who read it the opportunity to see the extent of the damage themselves and see the rescue teams hard at work. The rescue teams, as they mentioned, have been using rescue dogs to help them sniff out any human remains that could be buried underneath the mud and those who have survived within buildings or trapped between rocks. The message was clear and gave all of the information necessary to fully understand the situation along with how long those affected will be evacuated for and how long it might take for electricity, water, and sanitation to come back.
A few miles northeast of Afton, the Neosho river runs long, and deep. There is a path that runs along the river bank that has been beaten hard by the ranchers coming down from the ranches transporting their goods. The path is wide, and covered with grinded up gravel caused by the many trucks, and trailers that drive across it. The Neosho river is long, and green; home to many critters that scurry throughout the river’s surface. Beneath the surface is another world that is inhabited by creatures, who thrive on the very little food that the Neosho river produces. On the muddy river bank, tree leaves lie deep within the sandy shore, engulfed by clay like sand. Then from the direction of the gravel path came the sound of footsteps on the loose
While traveling down the busy Interstate 80 at 70 mph driving slightly over the speed limit in our large white Denali, my heart was beating as fast as the car was going. My mom’s heart matched mine. We didn’t quite know what we were getting ourselves into. It was a gloomy day as we progressed off the Interstate to Exit 224 where the Iowa 80 Truck stop is located in Walcott, Iowa. Little did I know my last meal without having to worry about my blood sugar, or injecting myself with an insulin shot or counting carbohydrates on everything I eat would be there, at that very unfamiliar truck stop.
After digging down, about four feet, ground water started pouring in. After attempting and failing, to pump the water out of the hole, the FBI resorted to having investigators drop down into the hole, and start sifting through the water with their hands, in hopes of finding something important. Later on, they faced the challenge of mud, from the ground, clogging up their sifting screens. So they started water sifting, which is spraying water onto the mud to help break it down and pass through the screens easier.
