Wow.. I did not know the Ms. Lewinsky became an anti-bullying activist. Anyway, I definitely agree with everything she addressed during her speech, especially the financial point of view, where social-media and gossip “news” are financed by clicks and likes. I might say, that for the majority of the population in Western world and some parts of Asia, online life has the same importance as our real life. I can see it on my two housemates - they are literally addicted to Snapchat and Instagram, with an average of a few hours a day, just browsing other’s pictures and videos. I’d like to emphasize the point about Snapchat being hacked. Every person using Facebook, Google, Snapchat, whatever, must be aware that it is a free service. We don’t pay
In the TED talk with Monica Lewinsky she talks about how she fell in love with her boss. She was his assistant at the time and once Monica knew she made the mistake she regretted it. In the video she speaks “Not a day goes by that I'm not reminded of my mistake, and I regret the mistake deeply” (Lewinsky 02:35). Her mistake was having an affair with the president (Bill Clinton), she says in her speech “I lost my reputation and my dignity. I lost almost everything, and i almost lost my life” (Lewinsky 06:09). Monica Lewinsky’s speech relates to the prompt because she is being publicly shaming for what she did. Once people found out what she did they made fun of her, printed her face on newspaper, he name on the internet and her life to the world.
Language plays a crucial role in the development of power. Famous personalities in the United States use rhetorical devices to emphasize a specific point and make it clear to the audience. President Thomas Jefferson is a Democratic-Republican and won the election of 1800. In 1801 he presented his inauguration speech and was significant because it was the first time in the history when the power shifted from one party to the other. Martin Luther King, Jr. served as an American minister and played an active role in the civil rights movement. John F. Kennedy delivered his speech during his inauguration in order to develop relations with the Soviet Union and end Cold War. All the speeches were delivered by most known personalities and made use of rhetorical devices such as allusion and repetition to make their message memorable in the hearts of the citizens of America.
From the first page of March I knew this wasn’t going to be an ordinary book. The comic designs, placed and drawn beautifully. An art major as myself, greatly appreciated this. The body forms and facial expressions made it clear how every character felt on each page. Adding to this amazing mix of an art form, there were the simple and perfect phrases that were placed in the book. This brings me to the guests speakers. John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and Nate Powell. John Lewis who’s story is being told, Andrew Aydin who was co-writer, and Nate Powell in charge of comic design. These three men created a breathtaking novel. Even more amazing about this is that they did so with less than the average word count of a regular novel.
This source was a speech given by the 43rd President George W. Bush on September 11th, 2001 at 8:30P.M. It was about the tragedy that occurred that day on America’s soil. It left many in shock, terror, pain, and anger. The speech was given at the White House and it told Americans what had happened that day.
As first stated by the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle, the art of rhetoric in persuasive speaking is based upon the usage of the three key components, logos, ethos and pathos. Logos representing the usage of logic and reasoning within the speech or text, ethos representing the writer or speaker’s credibility and pathos representing how the speaker or author establishes an emotional connection with the audience. In former president Bill Clinton’s 2012 democratic national convention he relies heavily upon Aristotle’s persuasive speaking techniques to help convince the participants of the convention and those watching at home to reelect the nominee of the Democratic Party, current
In the Essential American documents and Speeches, volume one and two, there are many great speeches given by some of America’s greatest people. There are many great speeches, JFK with his “Inaugural Address” and “Cuban Missile Crisis speech”, Benjamin Franklin and his “On the Faults of the Constitution speech”, plus many others. A few of these speeches will be talked about, and the basics of each speech will be covered. Details and important areas will be covered and hopefully most questions will be covered.

Martin Luther King, Jr. served as an American minister and played an active role in the civil rights movement. To further increase his liability in the civil rights movement, he presented “I have a dream” speech that improved his position in the movement by mentioning equality rights that all men deserve. John F. Kennedy delivered his speech during his inauguration tried to develop relations with Soviet Union and end Cold War. All the speeches delivered by most known personalities used rhetorical devices such as allusion and repetition to make their message memorable in the hearts of the citizens of America.
Every president has a specific vision on how to influence America with their policies. Being the only president to resign from the presidency makes one wonder “what did Nixon want to accomplish as president.” During, every president’s first term, they have to figure out how to navigate the office. The inaugural speech, usually, gives the American people an idea of what the president plans to do, for America. As president, Nixon accomplished many things and strived to fulfil the promises in his inaugural speech.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s speech, the “Pearl Harbor Address to the Nation”, was one of the most unforgettable speeches ever given by an American president: it was a speech so profound that the attacks on Pearl Harbor still “live in infamy” (par.2). On December 7th, 1941, amidst the destruction of World War II, the Imperial Japanese military and navy launched an attack against the United States naval base in Pearl Harbour. Hours after the attack, Roosevelt addressed the nation with a declaration of war on Japan. In his speech, Roosevelt uses the pillars of persuasion to justify his declaration of war; he uses ethos to influence the American people through his authority, logos to to characterize the Japanese attacks as deplorable, and pathos to urge Americans into taking action.
On January 20, 1961 John F. Kennedy Gave his Inaugural speech. As John F. Kennedy of the United States, I believe that his purpose of his speech was to make the U.S right, fix overseas affairs, and end the cold war.
lDonald Trump might not accept the results of the presidential election? Ok, I think that means that after Nov. 8 there will be no end to the angry blaming, bleating, threatening, denigrating attacks appearing in the leading stories of any and all media sources. When oh when will this ever stop? I’m desperate for silence.
Republican senator from Texas, Ted Cruz, aims to win the presidency in 2016, but before sitting in the Oval Office will have to overcome many challenges within his own party, and the rejection of numerous groups of the immigrant community. Cruz, of Cuban origin, made the announcement during an event atLiberty University in Lynchburg (Virginia ), an emblematic site of the evangelical movement ."Today I'm announcing that I am running for US president. When the truth is, it's time for freedom, it is time to claim the US Constitution, "said Cruz, interrupted by loud applause of students chanted" Ted! Ted! "Thus, Cruz became the first to officially announce his candidacy, among possible candidates of both parties.

The president is picked he/she has to give a speech. The speech they gave is called ‘the state of union”. The state of union is assigned by the Constitution. Blue dress.Incriminating evidence.Investigation. President. These are some of the pieces of the puzzle that were made headlines on Jan 21,1997 and even though Bill Clinton originally denied having sexual relation with Monica Lewinsky. He later admits it to a grand jury. These two speeches are a clear presentation of Clinton's change of voice during this period.Due to his unwillingness to embrace his wrongdoing, Bill Clinton is less effective in regaining trust in his “ I Misled the People” speech, whereas in his “I Have Sinned” speech” he convinces the audience he has changed.
