Mozart Symphony 40 In G Minor

The year is 1788 as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart began to work on his last three symphonies during a time of strife for musicians as the Austro-Turkish War continues to war on in Austria. Tired from moving his family from central Vienna to the suburbs of Alsergrund all while in debt to his ears as he continued to borrow money from friends including a fellow mason, Michael Puchberg, Mozart finished his final symphony on August 10, 1788. This piece, nicknamed the “Jupiter Symphony,” coined by impresario Johann Peter Saloman, was Mozart’s longest symphony with a total of four movements, a typical symphonic form during the Classical era. On Saturday, December 12th, the High School Philharmonic All-Region Orchestra performed a variety of fascinating pieces. They were directed by Professor Edward Kawakami from Carthage College. The region orchestra began the concert with “Pomp and Circumstance March No. 4 op. 39” by Edward Elgar. The next piece that the orchestras performed was “Clair de Lune” by Claude Debussy. The last piece that the High School Philharmonic All-Region Orchestra performed was “Samson and Dalila Dance Bacchanale op. 47” by Camille Saint-Saens.

On Sunday, 14 October, Jeffrey Phelps, cello and Lee Jordan-Anders, piano, performed Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata in A Major, Opus 69 (1808) and Claude Debussy’s Sonata (1915)

The voices sound rough and raspy, and I cannot tell if the interludes from lyrics include some form of moaning or mild yelling because of the raspy voice. The voices sound strained and prone to breaks. I do not know if this is from screaming or if that is their natural voice. Both would make sense in

The western classical concert that I have chosen to review is A Tale of Two Symphonies.

This paper discusses Mozart's life, his compositions and his importance to the world and the world of music. It explains how Mozart's music is still some of the most popular classical music played today and his life is still studied because his music is so well known and liked.

The piece that I decide to do was Mozart Symphony No. 40 because it seemed like it would have the most instruments, different dynamics and a different sound to it.

Symphony No. 41 is one of the last symphonies Mozart composed. Symphony No. 41 was the largest and most complex of his symphonies. The symphony is regarded by many critics as one of the greatest symphonies in classical music. The grand scale of the symphony along with the energy of the piece are what the symphony is known for. It is believed that Mozart was never able to hear this symphony because he passed before it could be performed. The work is nicknamed the Jupiter Symphony. However, the nickname did not stem from Mozart. It comes from a German musician Johann Peter Saloman. It received the nickname because of the emotional style of the piece that is created from the giant instrumentation. It represents the roman god Jupiter and his great power. The first movement of the symphony follows sonata form, but deviates from it by including more modulations.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is the composer of Symphony No. 40 in G minor. This piece was composed in 1788. Mozart overshadowed and took after his father, Leopold, who was a talented composer of the time. After his father passed, young Mozart had the opportunity to work in several different musical genres composing symphonies, string quartets, sonatas and serenades and a few operas. He developed a passion for violin concertos producing what came to be the only five he wrote.

Mozart’s Requiem is one of his most well-known pieces, both for its beauty and for the fact that it was his final piece. There are many stories and myths surrounding this piece, its composition, and its effect of the man. It might also be considered a forgery, since Mozart didn’t actually write the majority of the piece.

Mozart’s Requiem is “one of the most performed and studied pieces of music in history” (Stango, n.d.). The story behind the start of this piece begins with Count Franz von Walsegg, who commissioned a requiem mass for his wife Anna (who had passed away). Throughout his work on this piece, Mozart began to get so emotionally involved with the piece that he believed that he was writing a death mass for himself. Mozart died December 5, 1791, with only half of the Requiem finished (through Lacrimosa). Franz Xaver Süssmayr finished the Requiem based on Mozart’s specifications from notes and what he had already written. Symphony Number 45 in F# Minor (the "Farewell symphony") Between 1761 and 1790 Haydn was employed by the enormously wealthy Esterhazy family who had two palaces on the borders of Austria and Hungary. The court orchestra was similar to that of many baroque orchestras - two oboes, a bassoon, a string ensemble and a harpsichord. Some originally were overtures (orchestral introductions) for operas, and last only a few minutes. His later symphonies, which are the most popular, are full-length orchestral compositions that last twenty to thirty minutes. Most of them consist of four sections. Mozart’s last and most famous symphony, Number 41 (1788), is nicknamed the Jupiter.
