There is a big difference living in the city to out in the country. If you have lived in the city and moved to the country it can be a big change and a lot to get use to. But if you return to the city after many years and got a teast of how it use to be. You can very easily want to remain in the city. The city has many options and luxuries that the country doesn’t but at the sametime the country has more luxuries than the city does.
In the stories Georgiana had once lived in Boston then moved out to the country in Nebraska. Life took its toll on her. I think it was because of the move to Nebraska she wanted the lifestyle of the city again. She was not thinking of all the happy memories she had in the country.

Misty May-Treanor, an outstanding three time Olympian champion, once said, “I would like to instill in people just to work hard. As long as they keep at it, their dreams will happen.” Working hard guided her to countless, fantastic events in her life, and made her who she is today. Misty achieved her dreams by keeping at it all the way through the rough times. She didn’t stop even for one moment.
Have you ever read a book that changed your life? The book Tuesdays with Morrie has many saying in it called aphorisms. Morrie has multiple of these, many of which have affected me. The three aphorisms that have affected me the most are “Don’t let go too soon, but don’t hang on too long.”, “You’re not a wave, you are a part of the ocean.“, and “Death ends a life, not a relationship.”
America, in the early colonial years, was mostly country. Multitudes of people lived on farms, and few towns existed. As time has passed, America has innovated, and now millions of prodigious cities overpower the dwindling areas of the country. Because of the numerous towns, rarely any Americans have experienced the modest country life. Some individuals believe that the city is superior to the nation only by considering the conveniences that the city possesses. However, nearly all Americans have yet to realize the specialness of this country. It is an improved place to live in the city because it is peaceful, self sufficient, and beautiful.
Within Willa Cather's text, Aunt Georgiana longs for a life far different than the one that she is leading in Nebraska, further proving that the settler's lifestyle can break down even the strongest of individuals. After attending the show with her nephew, Georgiana begins to grow incredibly hysterical, repeatedly proclaiming that she does not want to go back, which ID puzzling because she seemed so strong and secure in her ways. Clark understands, however, because he, too, once lived that lifestyle, and knows how hard it is. "I understood. For her, just outside the door of the concert hall, lay the black pond with the cattle-tracked bluffs, the tall, unpainted house, naked as a tower, with weather-curled boards. . ." (Wagner, 661) Clark left his life on the farm in favor of the city life. Clark, much like his Aunt Georgiana was not made to endure the struggles of the farm for his entire life. The only difference between the two is that Clark got away from the hardships of the farming lifestyle and his Aunt did not. When she looks at him and tells him that she does not want to go back to the painstaking lifestyle, but instead wants to remain in the city where she can enjoy her music and spend her time on more artistic aspects of her life. When Georgiana states this, Clark does not even hesitate in
Moving to another country for establishing a new life, finding a better job or even studying have always been a bold step in one's life. However, changing one's place is not the only thing that they need to start their journey, but it requires more thorough changes related to traditions and customs. Based on that, people are divided into two contrary groups, one supports following the customs of the new country while the other encourages people to hold onto their beliefs. In my opinion, we can discuss this topic according to three different levels: social, individual and personal level.
In Willa Cather’s short story, The Wagner Matinee, Clark’s aunt Georgiana from Nebraska comes to visit him in Boston to settle a relative’s estate. His aunt used to live in Boston many years ago but she married and moved away. She faced many hardships trying to eke out a living on a harsh and primitive homestead of the Nebraskan plains.
The two forget that humans are flawed and once her only flaw is removed she may lose her human life. Basically, Georgiana would rather die than have her husband be disgusted by her
The toll of living on the homestead played up specifically in his mind. He describes her as worn down, with physical and mental energy drained, tired from the hard life. When Clark and Georgiana watch a musical performance, the matinee takes her back to her days filled with music and joy. The memories give her sadness because she left them for a fleeting romance. Maybe she loved her husband, but nothing joyful remains in her home.
Some people believe it is better to grow up in a small town. They grow up knowing everybody in town and everyone knows them. Everyone is very friendly and there is very little crime. Kids get excited when they hear the police run by their house since they are so unused to the noise. You watch tractors and people in horses drive around town, and at night you can see the many stars that fill the sky. In the big cities. You don’t know everyone but you also have the security of knowing that if you do something wrong the whole city will not know about it, unlike a small town where every little detail goes around like wildfire. In the city you have the nice apartments the small but cute houses in the quite areas of the city. You have the lights that
Because of all the doctors, therapists, and other appointments it becomes imperative that you have some kind of event planner. My wife uses a plain calendar and we write all the appointments and which child the appointment is for. Here organization is key. When you take in foster children you are expected to make and keep all these appointments.
Many families and individuals find themselves at some point questioning the advantages of city living versus country living. It is nearly impossible to find a good answer to this question. What is good for one person might not be good for another. Some people enjoy the busy, hyper active metropolitan city where they can use all amenities and have unlimited opportunities for work and leisure. At the same time, other people feel the urge to be closer to Mother Nature, relaxation, beauty, and peace. They take pleasure in living in the calm and peaceful environment of the countryside and spending their free time fishing, hiking, picking berries in the woods, or playing in the creek. In my opinion, the nature
If you had the choice to live in the city or in the country, which would you choose? Are you the hustle-bustle type who cannot seem to find enough hours in one day? Or are you someone who is much more easy-going and would rather have all of the time in the world to finish one assignment? City dwellers and country dwellers may be only a few miles apart, but what they do in their leisure time is often be completely different.
Everyone has a different lifestyle. People sometimes have to decide where they want to live. Some people prefer to live in the city while other people choose to live in the countryside. Their choice depends upon their bachground. City lifestyle and country lifestyle are two different types of living. Although, these two types of living differ from each other by environment, job opportunities and cost of living; they also have similar features such as daily routine, values and people live and work in these areas.
There are definitely more conveniences living in the city. Grocery stores are within blocks from your home, a gas station is to be found on every corner, and banks and hospitals are within walking distance. Living in the country means commuting to get to these places. It also means having to be prepared and making several stops to get all things accomplished in one day to avoid traveling back and forth several times in one week.
There are numerous reasons why people migrated from the rural areas to the cities and the major one is looking for employment opportunities. As a result of media sensationalizing urban living through advertisement and focusing on the wealthy part of the cities, many people are misinformed about urban cities. With little or no training they migrate to the cities in masses in search of wealth they assumed is in the cities. Unfortunately, once in the cities they are faced by a myriad of challenges housing being the biggest. According to (Rashid, 2009), they are secluded from the major city as they cannot afford living within the cities. Most of them come from farms or homes that had been flooded or affected by a natural calamity. This creates a desperate situation that does not allow them to settle elsewhere.
