New Jersey's Mountain - Mac-Mount Laurel This landform is Mt. Laurel's biggest mountain it is fun to climb . This landform was created because the plates sliding , which then bumped into each other which made the plates go up, which made the mountain . then it kept on going . But then, water erosion cut some of the mountain off. This is a great place to visit because it's easy to climb and then once you're at the top you can see the great view of New Jersey. Then you can see actual fossils in the mountain's sediment if you look closely in the mountain. (And, yes, there is sediment.) This landform can change over time because of erosion and it can become larger.

Proof of volcanic activity related to the break-up of Australia and Antarctica is seen at Bunbury, which is located 150km south of Perth, at the point where the basalt is of early Cretaceous, also on the middle Jurassic Kangaroo Island. However, evidence of Cenozoic eruptions is only seen in Eastern Highland. All through the Cenozoic, hot spot volcanic event transpire (Sutherland et al., 1985). Most of these events follow the Miocene (Stephenson et al., 1980) with recent eruptions close to the southern and northern margin of volcanic zone at southeast of South Australia and north Queensland respectively.

It consists of the state’s most unique landscapes – strangely long, tapered and almost parallel ridges and valleys, all mingling over water gap formations. The province extends from the center towards New Jersey (north-eastward) and into Maryland (south-westward). The province’s ridges and valleys are made up of Sedimentary rocks from the Paleozoic Era. Metamorphosed Proterozoic volcanic rock (~575 million years old) is also found in some ridges of the South Mountain sector of the province. The sediments were originally deposited in a horizontal manner, but then these rocks were subjected to a high amount of heat and pressure during the Alleghanian orogeny, which resulted in them being folded and angular. The erosion of sediments over the years have formed a very distinct landform – valleys have been formed over areas of shale and limestone (softer rocks) and ridges have been formed in the areas of sandstone (harder rock). This Province is divided into 7 sectors: South Mountain, Great Valley, Blue Mountain, Anthracite Upland, Anthracite Valley, Susquehanna Lowland and Appalachian
For many years the mines were successful on Putney Mountain employing several hundred men and bring out tons of coal. One summer a tragic accident killed several dozen men. Within a few weeks many families moved off the mountain, the company removed their equipment and closed the mines. Some of the families moved to Charleston while others moved to Howardsville another mining town located forty miles southwest of Charleston, West Virginia in the Alleghany Mountains.
For my place narrative assignment, I chose to focus on a place that I not only visit frequently, but truly appreciate: Mount Douglas. This is a place I value not only for its beauty, but for the calmness it allows me to experience as a result of being part of nature. As it turns out, this has been the location of many important histories, dating back hundreds of years, and is still making history today. This history is significant both ecologically, and culturally, and is something I have enjoyed learning about. Through researching this place, and its surrounding area I have come to learn its importance branches far greater than its importance to me.

On June 9, 1972, one of the most devastating floods in the nation's history swept through Rapid City, South Dakota, and nearby communities. More than 10 inches of rain fell in just over six hours, producing flooding on Rapid Creek and several other Black Hills streams. The swollen streams rushing toward Rapid City and the failure of Canyon Lake Dam combined to send a wall of water through the community.
Mount Tambora is known as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in history. It is recognized to have one of the most hazardous eruptions, the 1816 eruption, with the death toll of 72,000 and more people.
Mount Mazama, a composite volcano, was formed by accumulation of smaller eruptions of lava flows over the past 400,000 years. During these eruptions, Mount Mazama became 3,700 m above sea level. In 2850 BCE, during the time frame of a few days, it erupted about 50 km3 of pyroclastic materials. The ash covered mainly the northwestern states and even parts of central Canada. The total surface area of covered ash became 2,600,000 km3, which was 1mm thick. This eruption was greater than Mt. Saint Helens’ eruption, and became its largest and last eruption. During the eruption, a volume of 42-54 km3 of the mountaintop disappeared. Mount Mazama collapsed in on itself, due to the massive amounts of magma that had been erupted, creating a void underneath
