AC/DC started their career like other bands would. AC/DC started playing in local pubs and latter moved on to nightclubs and theatres. AC/dc started their career kinda small and got bigger as they moved along. And after they got bigger they needed a name.

The Motley Crue is a heavy metal band, with carefree lifestyle, that they spread throughout the world through their music. The members of the band were not only memorable on the stage, but off stage as well. They lived a lifestyle most would not deem socially correct, though it seemed to benefit their career. Selling over 100 million albums worldwide, Motley Crue helped spread the heavy metal brand of music around the world. All of these factors contributed to making them one of the best selling bands of all time. Their style, their life outside of music, and the spread of their music has lead Motley Crue to the top of Rock and Roll.

That eventually led to bands from the 70s and early 80s like The New York Dolls and Led Zeppelin which were more of Glam Rock. Hair metal was influenced from the glam rock of the 70s. Glam Rock was basically a step down from Hair Bands. They wore more feminine clothes, like heels and pantyhose. Hair Bands didn’t exactly wear heels and pantyhose, but they adopted the look of wearing makeup, the strange clothes, and most importantly the hair.

By the end of the 50’s and beginning of the 60’s rock had somewhat died down and become tamer. many thought it was dead until the mid 60’s. Rock & Roll had a resurgence, known as “The British Invasion”. While things had settled down in the US, England had been inspired. Groups from Britain like the Rolling Stones and the Beatles brought a fresh style, infusing British Rhythm and Blues and Jazz into what they played. This revival propelled the genre down two different paths. Many groups came onto the scene and continued to make more of the same teen-appropriate pop-style music. others pushed boundaries in an industry heavily influenced by drugs, spawning the phrase, “Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll”. The Beatles were at the center of it all, experimenting with different sounds and instruments. Their experimentations became part of a larger movement, known as psychedelic rock, which included the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd. Throughout the many years of music, rock bands have come and gone leaving a lasting imprint on society. Among the many bands and artists, arguably the most influential band in the history of rock and roll are The Rolling Stones. During their fifty years as a band, The Rolling Stones pioneered an image that influenced society among the topics of ethics, religion, and fashion.

As stated by Rose at groovyhistory,com, they “brought heavy metal and savoury lyrics to the forefront of the global stage”. Their fast, thunderous guitar performances combined with the easy to understand folklore lyrics, allowed their fans to connect and recite with ease. The band even mastered the art of their eccentric performance on the stage, with “Their wardrobe included tight, open bottom jeans with tight graphic tees” and “their big and statement-making hairstyles” (Rose). They became the pioneer for the whole rock and roll section of music, teaching every aspect of performing and musical genius.

They were one of the first bands to popularize the blend of rock and electronic music. “On releases like OK Computer and Particularly Kid A, obliterated the boundaries of rock and electronic music.”,(5 ways).Their creative look upon music and skilled artistry changed music for the better and led them to success. Radiohead has became an independent band, not to be signed by a record company and has influenced other artist to do so.They ushered in independent era. “ Radiohead’s post album In Rainbows success has emboldened other artist to for go the major label route and remain independent.” Artist like Pearl Jam and Chance the Rapper have followed their lead, (5 steps). Becoming an independent artist was a bold step in their careers, and helped other artist notice that you don’t need a label for fame. Their Fast paced music called for the creation of people known as “headbanger” given the title for their iconic headbanging motion when listening to rhythmic and fast paced music. This movement of headbangers created a culture of Metal fans wearing vulgar clothes and violent shirts to create a sense of intimidation. The rise of headbangers lead to the making of faster tempo music. One trying to top the other on how dark and deep and fast it sounded. The idea of playing songs ideally talking about sensitive topic, war, violence, and even satanism was all thought about when creating this type of music for it's what they thought was “Bad A--”. Head banging culture was the cause for thrash metal and soon the NWOBHM movement began inspiring new branches of music. It is quite stereotypical to see grunge bands with members of the band with long hair and dressed in very casual clothing. As grunge is also quite a dark music genre it is very common to see bands in music videos or performing live with dark colours and plain backdrops. The ‘grunge style’ is very lose and has a kind of ‘anything goes’ sort of feel to it. Evidence of this is that sometimes performers would leave their instruments out of tune however, neither the crowd nor the performer seemed to care.
