Motivation During Middle Childhood

During middle childhood, children begin to realize that some things should be remembered and they do this through repetition. Children remember things such as their phone number, but do not truly understand what it means. Children then begin to use strategies they learn, such as using visual cues and auditory hints. Visual cues are remembering what certain words look like and auditory hints are things such as rhymes to help them remember. Then towards the end of middle childhood, children use more skillful memory tricks they have learned from mentors. They can begin to organize information on their own and create their own techniques.
