The Most Important Amendment
The Bill of Rights was proposed by James Madison in 1789 and has impacted the US ever since. When proposing the Bill of Rights, Madison had one main goal in mind, to enable United States citizens to fully be aware of their rights and be able to practice them freely and patriotically. With this being said, all of our rights are a necessity and play a huge role in our lives as US citizens. However, I personally view some rights more important than others. Although I am grateful and appreciative of all the rights I have as a US citizen, I feel as though the First Amendment, more specifically Freedom of Religion, is the most meaningful to me because of my Christian views and the ability to create a strong argument over which amendment most resonates with me. When the founding fathers came to America, they made religion a top priority, mainly Christianity. Moreover, it was easier for Freedom of Religion to “survive and thrive” at this time because most cultures were monotheistic and practiced Christianity and there weren’t many other religions to go against. On the other hand in today’s society, religion has been taken out of schools and the workplace because of the United States containing more religions than just

Without Freedom of Religion, I wouldn't be able to attend the church I desired to go to because state and church wouldn't be separated. In addition, I wouldn't be able to express my views without crossing the line and disobeying the Constitution, I wouldn't be able to practice my religion at all or even be writing this essay. When I step back and ponder on the thought of Freedom of Religion, I am aware of the privileges that I sometimes take advantage of and feel as though they are the components of Freedom of Religion that I will forever be passionate about and would hate to
Religious liberty is just important today as it was back in 1787 when the Founding Fathers believed so, religious liberty helps the country both socially and politically. God played a significant role in the lives of Americans.“For most Americans, the blessings of God have been the basis of our liberty, prosperity, and survival as a unique country,” (Gingrich 9). God has given grace and hope to Americans when they are going through a difficult time whether it be conflict within the country or war. The Founding
The First Amendment is one of the most beneficial amendments in our constitution. The 1st amendment was the first amendment ratified by congress. Its was ratified in the year 1791. The first amendment protects your five basic rights: freedom of speech, religion, the press, assembly and petition. This means that the government can’t set up an official church for the country or review and edit newspapers before they are printed. This amendment is essential to having a successful government. Imagine our government without the right to petition a law or act you think is wrong or have an assembly with local politicians. This amendment is important to me personally because I am a Muslim, a minority the U.S. So without the freedom to practice whatever religion I want, my family and I would not be a able to live here. This is why the 1st amendment is critical to me, and the rest of the United States.
To amend the constitution, various steps and procedures must be taken. When either Congress (which takes a two-thirds majority vote in both the Senate and the House of Representatives), or a constitutional convention (which takes two-thirds of the State legislatures) want to propose an amendment, they give it to the National Archives and Records Administration. The Congress proposes the amendment as a joint resolution to the National Archives and Records Administrations Office of the Federal Register for the publication process. The Office of the Federal Register adds legislative notes to the joint resolution and publishes it in slip law format. The Office of the Federal Register also puts together an information package for the States
The Bill of Rights was first proposed on September 25, 1789, and they were than adopted by the states on December 15, 1791. The three most important amendments that are guaranteed under the Bill of Rights are the First Amendment, Basic Liberties, the Fourth amendment, Protection from unreasonable searches and seizures, and lastly the Fifth amendment, Rights of the Accused, Due Process of the Law, and Eminent Domain. Our constitution is what makes America a country where people of all ethnicities want to come here to live because of our rights and freedoms that is guaranteed by our constitution. The first amendment is the not just the first amendment on the list of all of the amendments, its first because it's the most important amendment in the Bill of Rights.
The first amendment is the most important part of the Constitution because it has been the most exercised right by U.S citizens. First amendment states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” Meaning, as citizens, the Constitution protects our freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly and petition the government. This amendment is a good reflection of what America represents, equality for all.
The author of The Bill of Rights is James Madison, who is also known as The Father of the Constitution and is one of the four founding fathers of the United States of America. James Madison was born in Port Conway, Virginia in 1751. After Madison’s graduation from Princeton University, Madison returned home and was heavily moved by the American Revolution which inspired him to run for the Virginia Convention in 1775 (Auerbach). From there on, his power grew until he was elected to the Constitutional Congress where he became the main contributor to the Constitution which later included the Bill of Rights. Essentially, Madison created the building blocks of civil rights that are still in place in present day United States and that is why he is so influential. Madison witnessed many of the negative interactions that took place between the colonists and the British such as the Quartering Act of 1765 where “each colonial
A proposed constitutional amendment for the Colorado Constitution that would have placed restrictions on marijuana businesses was withdrawn last week by the amendment’s supporting group.
Every single person in the United States have the right to express their religion of preference or no religion at all, however him or her wants without offending anybody, and the best way to protect religion’s liberty was by keeping the government out if it and creating this First Amendment freedom of religion, to separate the church from the state.
The free exercise of religion, the freedom of speech, and the freedom of assembly are each absolutely essential for the health of our Republic. That is why the Founding Fathers enshrined them all in the First Amendment. While some people up hold the first amendment and respect its meaning. Unfortunately, these freedoms are currently under assault by the government, state officials and communities.
There are many things that comply to the importance of religious freedom. Many of which we take for granted. If anything, it is our fundamental right to have this freedom, for everyone. There are even a few laws that comply to religious freedom, for example the “1998 International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA)”, this law issues to the United States to criticize mistakes that comply to religious freedom. It also helped advocate the right of religious freedom.
The Bill of Rights is an Extremely important part of American History. In the late 1700s the Bill of Rights was created to give Americans a basic set of freedoms. These freedoms have always been greatly valued by the American people ever since the Bill of Rights was created.
Our country is a prime example of why religious freedom is important. Our ancestors, who built this country, were mainly seeking religious refuge. Because of our relatives, we don’t have to worry about some of the problems that many others have to face on a daily basis. Since our founding fathers came to the new world, they wanted to set-up a type of government that would be separate from the church. If our nation did not have separation of church and state, our country would be at war
America’s gift to my generation is the freedom of religion. On January 16, 1768, The Virginia Statute for Establishing Religious Freedom was drafted by Thomas Jefferson and adopted by the General Assembly. Our founding fathers, with different religious backgrounds themselves, decided that it was best to keep all religious affairs out of the government. Thus the first amendment was created. The first amendment in the United States Constitution declares that everyone in the United States has the right to practice his or her own religion, or no religion at all.
Religious freedom is arguably the oldest and deepest of rights embedded in the modern collection of liberties. Religion has been historically one of the most powerful forces in shaping the morals of humanity.
During the construction of the US constitution, many founding fathers debated on what rights citizens should have what rights should be the most important. James Madison introduced eight rights citizens are entitled to, and from that came he final 10 amendments to the Bill of rights. It wasn’t easy getting to the final Bill of Rights as there have been much debate and controversy on what they mean. Using Madison’s 1789 speech as a pretext to the bill of rights, Congress made right decisions and wrong decision particularly in areas of ensuring rights of the minority, making clear the use of arms and clarifying how government is for the people.
