pizza was beautifully cooked on a crispy crust that didn't sag in the middle when he picked it up. The most memorable dish was Vince’s gnocchi; a plate full of light-as-air, tiny pillows of fresh potato goodness, smothered in a mouthwatering, rich and creamy gorgonzola sauce. Vince had never tasted anything so divine. It was delicious. The men savored their well deserved, exquisite dinner and wine engaged in happy conversation about the day’s events. Stan was relieved to be away from the sadness which encompassed his home in California and Vince was grateful to have Stan’s companionship and moral support. When they returned to the apartment, Vince was too energized to sleep. Intending to paint only a small area, he opened a can to dip …show more content…
It was a beautiful morning, therefore he and Stan decided to take a last stroll through the village before departing to the airport. I was busy packing before I went to bed that night when my phone rang. My heart leaped out of my chest when I heard my hubby’s voice. He sounded excited. Vince said that something special appeared to be happening in Morcella as several blue pennants depicting white flowers, a medieval arch, or the name MORCELLA decoratively illustrated, were suspended from windows and balconies. Large arrangements of Sweet Broom adorned the church breezeway and lined the piazza in front of the church. Sweet Broom is a shrub of glorious yellow flowers, with a spicy-sweet fragrance that delights the senses. His voice became even more exuberant as he described his enchanting surroundings. I learned later, that throughout Italy, the religious feast of Corpus Domini (Christ’s Body) is celebrated on the last Sunday in May. The feast is marked by decorating villages with Sweet Broom floral arrangements, suspending pennants and laying extravagant flower pedal carpets (Infiorata) over the cobblestone pathways that lead to the church for the special late-day service when the Host is carried through the streets in …show more content…
How do you feel? Do you have buyer’s remorse?” “Are you kidding?!” Vince answered. “I have the direct opposite. I can’t wait to go back with you in September. I love it there, I love our apartment.” “Oh, thank God.” I replied. “Where are the keys, let me see the skeleton key.” Vince produced a bunch of keys on a keyring from his pocket and dangled them within my reach. Stan took a picture of Vince holding one key and me holding the skeleton key! It was a very momentous photo. FINALLY MOVING IN “For those who wait, waiting is a life time.” Isn’t that how the saying goes? It was going to be a brutal, long summer waiting for September to when we would return to Morcella together for the actual moving in. I spent a big part of every day focused on what I wanted to bring from California, what I wanted to do first after we arrived and I was constantly thinking about how I wanted each room to look. As I poured my energy into our Italian dream, my heart was full. I wondered if the clothes washer was the kind that dried clothes after the washing cycle. I read about such machines and decided to send an e-mail to Ann to ask some questions. I was thrilled when I read her
Nestled snuggly into the Blue Ridge Mountains was Ridgecrest, North Carolina. Getting there was no joke seeing as the ears popped every five minutes, but the scenery was beautiful.
Once we were able to start work it seemed by family was starting to settle into their new home. Francisco and Roberto found a train that gave them some daily entertainment. I know that our journey has just begun but it seems like a bright future ahead of us. Even though the path is a little rough I know we can get though anything if we stick
As the soldiers lay in the rat filled trenches, with bullet's whistling overhead. While the soldiers sleep the enemy never stops throwing bombs near the trench, as they try to catch the sleeping soldiers. Every night when they sleep they need to bear with rats biting their wounds caused by the cold. All the while surrounded by the whistling bullets of the enemies. As a bomb goes off feet away from the soldiers, they hear a quit whistle blow signalling for them to get back to the cold hard war that seems to never end.
The day I went to Delgrosso One day I went to Delgrosso. When I went there it was still light out. When we went my sister came, mom, and my other sister came with me.When we went there was a lot of my sister came my mom came and my other sister came. When we went there we rode a lot of fun rides but there was one scary ride.
When I returned, Karen and Tracy were looking at clothes in the back of the store. From afar, they almost looked like sisters
“This is our kind of place.” Vince said. “If we lived here, this would be our local hang-out!” When a friendly waiter came over, Vince ordered menu selections for both of us including a liter of the house red wine and a bottle of sparkling water. When the wine came and our glasses were filled, my husband held up his glass and moved in closer to me as he made a toast and began our in depth discussion.
Super! Where going to the barn it’s a fun place. That’s where I Ride my own horses. I and my brother like to go there with my grandpa. My cousins go there too. When we were going over there we pass by the races. Then we continue going then I saw a watermelon seller we bought a tasty and juicy watermelon. We continue more and then we saw a tamale seller they were so good. Next, we put on our cowboy shirt, pants, boots, and hat. We gave hay to the horses and grass to the cows, sheep, and goats. We took some milk from the cows and made it good for us to drink Finally, I ask my dad and grandpa” can we ride the horses.” “Yes,” we can ride the horses. After that, we got in the tractor a plant the weed. The wheel from the
Passing the Fernwood sign, as I approach her gravesite early morning before work on 7/10/15 at 6:30 AM. I drive up an uneven gravel driveway dodging the grooves, looking at the back mirror noticing the dust my back tires are kicking up. The feeling of crunch vibrating off my tires, as the feeling you get when you are getting a massage on the nail salon massage chair. Just the calm vibration running from your toes to the fingers on the steering wheel. The grooves freshly filled with water from the rain the night before. Driving past the rusted looking water pumps used to feed the plants. Looking through window, noticing all different flowers laying on individual gravestone. Some vary from fake flowers but most are real freshly bloomed flowers,
I walked to the back of the store and grabbed a container with sodas in it to restock the fridges, "so how's school been?" Vince asks opening the cash register. "It sucks but the usual" I respond sighing.
Awe. Light is not beautiful without darkness. My Dad and I stepped outside the cabin into the wee hours of a crisp autumn morning. We were to prepare for a fishing derby that would begin at sunrise and walked down a dark gravel road toward the docks. Already tired to begin with, the freezing mountain air made me even more tired which made be even more cold. The wind blew the terrible odor of a dumpster our way which made the walk even more unbearable. Then, something caught my eye. Through the almost bear trees above me, I saw a canopy filled with stars glimmering through. I found myself face to face with the universe in a cosmic desert, each star a grain of sand.
I have gone to many restaurants, but one of the best experiences I’ve had at one was at Puerto Vallarta in January. It was blistering cold outside, though the snow was falling fairly lightly upon the slushy asphalt. But inside the Mexican restaurant it was warm and cozy, I was sitting in a scarlet booth, waiting for my friends to arrive. Wearing a black leather jacket and hat to brave the cold weather outside, I waited there for approximately five minutes when they came in through the door. Carissa, about my height, with blonde hair and blue eyes, was walking in with Rachel, shorter than Carissa, she had brown hair, hazel eyes, and was smiling. They both took seats across from me and we began to chat. Food was brought out, mainly spicy burritos
It was hot outside; not the kind of hot that you could deal with; it was the kind of blood boiling heat that would drive you to insanity. The feeling of a burning sensation in my muscles radiated as though they were rubbed down with sandpaper and ripped to pieces like the thin strips of Twizzlers twists. The smell of antique clothes and the dust from the century old records filled the air. The soreness of my body sent shocks of electricity throughout as I lifted the boxes. Sweat beads pooled at the ridge of my mother’s face and my father's hair was misshapen into some cockatoo style. The work was absolutely enervating. Growing up, my parents had a strictness that came from ancient teachings. We were inclined to help when my family needed it.
When is lying ok ? I think lying is ok only when you are trying to protect someone or lie because you don’t want to get into trouble. I believe that lying is sometimes ok because you can lie so you won’t get into trouble or want people to think that you are telling the truth so you lie to your friends or family.
After an exhausting 17 hours of flight, we had arrived. Dad picks up an exhausted me and a half-asleep Mom from the airport. We head to our new apartment which was very exciting. I had never lived in an apartment before. After our tiring trip, we get a well-earned sleep.
