Tara Broadnax SS144: Introduction to Sociology Mississippi Burning (815) August 5, 2012 Racism has been a huge social issue for as long as I can remember. Not only does racism exists between whites and African Americans it exists between all different races all over the world. Although racism has changed a lot it still exists in many places all over the world. You would think that after so many years that people would learn that everyone is equal but some races still seem to think that they are superior to other races. The type of mass media that I am using to analyze the social issue of racism is a movie called “Mississippi Burning”. This is a very touching movie that shows how bad racism was and could be. …show more content…
There is always going to be some people who think that their race is superior to all the other races. People who tend to grow up in racist backgrounds tend to have the same thoughts as the people in their upbringing. People need to raise their children and teach them that just because someone’s hair color, eye color, skin color, etc. is different it doesn’t make them any different from them. All kids should know that everybody is equal and that nobody is ant better that the next person, no matter the situation. I can only hope and pray that people will realize that everyone is equal and that nobody is better than anyone else for the sake of everyone’s future, but I know that deep down inside racism will forever exist all over the world. Racism has been a part of our country since the early ages. Historically, racism and equality have been central issues that have divided our country. Many actions from the past such as the decision in the Plessy versus Ferguson case, and present day actions like The Mississippi school system case have been the ongoing battle in today 's society. The struggle to achieve equality was made even more difficult by the legislation that is now considered racist in the Plessy versus Ferguson case.
Racism is a huge problem, especially here in the United States. The United States has come a long was, but there is no doubt that there is much more progress to be made. People seem to follow the patterns of others and fall in to the same issues. It is important that the cycle breaks and individual learn to be independent and speak their own minds instead of following the thoughts and beliefs of others. Until the chains are broken and people fall out of this endless loop, racism will continue to be a major issue.
Racism has come a long way since the start of the country and the end of slavery. It has become much less commonplace in society and many believe that it has completely left our society. This is simply untrue. Many believe that racism ended with the civil rights movement, but racism still has a very real and vast impact on today’s society, affecting mental health and economic status. Racism has a very significant and broad impact on today’s society.
Racism has been a big problem in the U.S. for all races for a very long time and continues to be a problem to this day,. Racism has been a big part in U.S. history and has changed over time, some of these races were African Americans, American Indians, and Mexican Americans, for American Indians it was how they were treated wrong socially and economically.

Although racism has changed over time these past 50 years, racism in many ways still exists. Everybody has their own opinion and those opinions are influenced by the public and the media. In some way,
Racism is an age-old issue that was named during the Civil War, fought during the 1960s, and is still lingering in modern society.
Racism has always been a big topic in society, even during Jesus Christ time. I believe racism comes from independent thinking and views and how this view from family, friends and society forms us each day. Racism has to do a lot with social status, money, power, looks, sex and much more. Coming from a third world country I can really see the major differences of racism how they vary by culture and education. My experience in the United States as a young boy has formed my racism definition and view of society in general. One of the biggest influences in my life is my father name Evaristo Navarro in terms of racism, he came from an era where marrying a

Throughout history in America there has always been the idea of racism. When Americans think of racism, they usually think of slavery and that racism is no longer a problem in America. However, this is not the case. Racism is still very apparent in America. It is true that since the end of slavery, the U.S. has made great strides towards becoming a less racist country. In reality, racism will never be extinct. In today’s society, all American citizens of all races have the same rights as one another, yet there is still racism. Racism can be linked directly to stereotypical mindsets of certain groups of people. It is human nature to make conclusions about other people, this is what leads to racism. Today’s racism is not limited to whites
Since the beginning of time, there has been racism. People are afraid of difference and are used to the ordinary. Racism became a worldwide problem in America especially, after they imported slaves from Africa. Even after a long fight for equality of all skin colours, racism was still present. Racism will never stop. It will keep going on and on till the day the world ends. The reasons why it is never going to end are people’s upbringings, media, and stereotypes. No one is born racist; it is the world around them that forms their opinions.
Racism has been present since the United States of America was founded in 1776 and unfortunately will most likely be a part of our lives forever, whether yourself or other people participate in these acts of inequality. Although everyone experiences racism sometime in their lives, it is drastically different for each individual. Depending on where you live as well can be a large determining factor in how you are going to be treated. Some will experience little to possible no racism at all towards them, on the other hand they could also deal with racial slurs being thrown towards them multiple times every day. The question we should all be trying to answer and act upon is whether or not racism can come to a screeching halt so all the conflicts because of it can stop too.
Race and ethnicity have been a touchy subject that has never left or has been resolved. We just choose to ignore it and hope people can one day be accepted. Sadly it has never nor will be a problem that will be solved. Discrimination towards race and specific beliefs have caused violence and continues to feed into the destruction of mankind. Racism and discrimination are constantly being witnessed by adolescents which, will aid in the emotional damage some of them will face as well as helping them pass down the hatred they learn to the next generation. It is upsetting when you see racism being performed and you have no immediate reaction because it is now considered a norm in this country. I personally, on many occasions, have experienced racism as a child, both in and out of school.
