Miracles Essay

In Almost a Miracle, John Ferling writes an excellent book to accompany A Leap in the Dark. Anyone wishing to read a comprehensive treatise on the military history of the American Revolution would do well to delve into Almost a Miracle. It is easy to see why it is so widely praised and why Ferling was given a lifetime achievement award and the Best Book on the American Revolution Award in 2007 by the American Revolution Roundtable of New York.

There are many challenges for people while they are growing up. In fact, these challenges are very common for most teenagers. However, many authors have written pieces with the intention to help students overcome their struggles. That is why a student who is struggling to find their inner self can trust several of the ideas of transcendentalism. In fact, Thoreau and Emerson include the ideas of optimism, intuition, and originality in many of their pieces of literature. It is clear that a teenager who is struggling developing their character should connect with the transcendent ideas from Thoreau and Emerson.

Who is this man that the storms obey him? At this point in the Gospel of Mark we have followed Jesus in other miracles such as healing Peter’s mother-in-law, healing a man with an unclean spirit, and cleansing a man of leprosy along with other miracles. August 28th 2005, Louisiana and Mississippi were affected by hurricane Katrina. 80 percent of New Orleans along with parishes close by were flooded not receding back for weeks. Evacuation was necessary for the people of New Orleans. The superdome and convention center were filled as shelter for the residents. Help was needed for the people of New Orleans to survive and many people were desperate. Storms are not a joke they can be something very serious.

In the biography Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand, a troubled adolescent boy named Louis Zamperini revolves his life around his running career. Starting at such a young age, running had many impacts on Louie’s life. The high demand of training kept Louie distracted from making unintelligent choices he had previously been making. Running changed the young teenager he was and the man he was going to become.

All communication is cultural. It draws on ways we have learned to speak and give nonverbal messages. We do not always communicate the same way from day to day, since factors like individual personality, mood, and the context of the situation interact with the variety of cultural influences we have internalized that influence our choices. Communication is interactive, so an important influence on its effectiveness is our relationship with others. Do they hear and understand what we are trying to say? Are they listening well? Are we listening well in response? Do their responses show that they understand the words and the meanings behind the words we have chosen? Is the mood positive and receptive? Is there trust between them and us? Are there differences that relate to ineffective communication, divergent goals or interests, or fundamentally different ways of seeing the world? The answers to these questions will give us some clues about the effectiveness of our communication and the ease with which we may be able to move through conflict. The challenge is that even with all the good will in the world, miscommunication is likely to happen, especially when there are significant cultural differences between communicators. Faith and reason can be viewed as opposites. Faith is an element of belief, something an individual does not necessarily require a reason for accepting without reason. For example, an individual’s reason for believing in God may not seem too rational when they are trying to explain them. They may not even stand up to criticism. On the other hand, reason is constructed as a formula. Faith is basically something we believe in, like something we learn in church. Reason is something we learn in school, such as a math formula.

The first thing that one needs to understand is the true meaning of the miracles Jesus performed, even though the Devil does not want us to understand the meaning.      Many people wonder if heaven exists, and if so, what it consists of. There are many theories that will tell you different stories of heaven. In the bible heaven it is named Eden, where man can walk and talk at the side of God. Heaven is an intangible place where only the true ideals of life can be realized. Spirituality plays a very sub sequential role in my personal life. First of all, spirituality helps me govern what is right and what is wrong in my life. Many of the decisions that I make everyday, I believe are a direct result of my spirituality. For as long as I can remember I have been raised to believe that I should live my life the way God would want me to live it. Therefore, whenever I have a decision to make, I have to consider, what is right? And what is wrong? Second of all, it also helps me to feel more secure about what will happen to my spirit once my life here on earth is over.
