One that has no mind is being kept from their personal freedoms and desires. If one was to pick if either mind control is worse or physical control I would choose mind control because your mind is who you are, your personality. When one controls their mind they are not allowing their imagination or emotions get the best of them and that is controlling one’s thinking.
When one does not have control of their mind they are not able to think for themselves therefore resulting in not being able to have opinions or even a personality and is kept from their freedoms and rights to do what they desire. “Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear (Orwell, Brainy Quotes).” If someone is controlling a mind they are restricting
Stephen Herrick’s “The Simple Gift" represents 'exploring transitions' through the idea that in order to successfully transition and achieve autonomy people need support from others. Herrick establishes the elements of trauma and grief through the structure of verse form novel. Similar ideas are also demonstrated in the related text “Stand By Me” directed by Rob Reiner. Both composers use to forms and features of their texts to assist with the characterisation of adolescents to demonstrate 'exploring transitions' and help the audience enhance a new perception of the character’s lives.
Freak The Mighty is a very thrilling and inspiring book about a friendship between two characters named Max and Kevin. During the course of the story, the main character (Max) changes a lot. Max is also very admirable for being a good role model. Here is proof of how he has changed and why I think he is a good role model.

The meaning of pussy whipped refers to becoming totally under the control of a woman and also doing everything according to her desire by being very obedient to her. So the person who does what his wife or girl friend says always is pussy whipped. A good example of a pussy whipped man is someone who purchases his wife every little thing she desires, arrives home whenever she tells him and also carries her purse in all places they go.
In the novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, other than attending Reardan, Arnold Spirit made his most important choice in trying out for the Reardan basketball team. This is evident when Arnold states this: “I almost didn't t try out for the Reardan basketball team. I just figured I wasn't good enough to make even the C squad. And I didn't want to get cut from the team. I didn't think I could live through that humiliation” (Alexie 135). This quote is important because Arnold proves to himself that he can and will be successful. When he made the team, he did not just prove to himself that he can be successful, but he showed the members on the reservation that it is possible to be successful no matter where someone is from.
In Rodman Philbrick curious novel, Freak The Mighty two misfits learn to cope with each other. Philbrick’s use of tone and mood, displays the development of the boys character and relationship. Max and Kevin feel nerve wracked, when they are on their way to the firework show. Tony, a mischievous kid, maliciously intimidates a worried Max. Kevin confidently intimidates Tony by outwitting him. This shows that Kevin defends Max, showing him he cares. This is important because it demonstrates how Max now trust Kevin. Philbrick expresses this connection with a strong tone of fear and confidence. Later, Tony fiercely attacks Kevin and Max again. A shelfish Tony says, “Slice and Dice.” This makes Kevin fuel up with confidence. This shows that Kevin
In the novel Unbroken written by Laura Hillenbrand, the character Louie displays many important character traits. The most important trait displayed in this character is positivity. The author shows the reader these traits in several ways. First, the author shows us by what the character says. Louis said ‘ “ If I have any strength left from the heat, I'll beat Bright and give Lash the scare of his life.’ (25). Second, the author shows us by what the character does. Louie reassured Mac that the squadron would come for them, that they were likely to be found that night, at the latest the next day. Another way the author shows the reader is by revealing what another character says about my character. For instance, Phil said ‘ “ If there was one
Have you ever felt like people judge you by your cover. Well sometimes I have cause I’m big for my age and I know that and some people look at me and get scared. Just like Max in the book Freak The Mighty. He knows he’s big and most people get scared the first time they see him. When you meet someone new don’t judge them by height or looks cause they’re different. Get to know them and see if you can become friends or more. There’s a story I’m going to share with you about this topic. My sister didn’t really make friends fast because of her height. She’s 16 and small and I’m younger but taller, but when she does make friends they usually betray her. So she has some trust issues but now she doesn’t care cause we always hang out together and sisters make great best friends. So, I’m going to now explain the book, Freak The Mighty By: Rodman Philbrick. The theme of this particular story is don’t judge a book by it’s cover.
People are not like severed fingers from a hand because they are individuals with their own ideas and personalities; they need a ruler, but they don’t necessarily have to be controlled.
American actress Mary Tyler Moore once said, “Take chances, make mistakes. That's how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave.” In Laura Hillenbrand’s biography Unbroken, Louis Zamperini showed immense bravery through his life trials and Hillenbrand captured his story beautifully.
Everett and Odysseus are interchangeable. These two characters are alike in many ways. These two characters have the same goals, conflict, and journeys. The character Odysseus from “ The Odyssey” is comparable to the character Everett from “O Brother Where Art Thou?” because they have very similar personalities.
During the second World War, an olympic record holder, Louie Zamperini, was one of the few men that got shot down into the ocean and was stranded for 47 days on a lonely, little raft. The great American hero we all have heard of didn’t start out like you would have thought. He was a young scoundrel who was influenced by his brother to run for something better than away from is problems. After years of running and going to the German Olympics to set the best lap run in the 5,000 meters, Louie had gone into the Air Force and had gotten into trouble at a Japanese POW camp after a crash. The book Unbroken, written by Laura Hillenbrand, expresses Louie’s life exceptionally well, especially
B.F. Skinner argues the reality of freedom or free will in people. He explains it as our actions being a result to a stimulus. For example a person that gets burned under the hot sun learns to avoid the sun in order to not receive the burn. He argues that we do not behave the way we do because of our philosophy but because we respond to our environment. It’s not freedom or the liberty to do what we want, we act the way we do to avoid punishment or receive rewards. Skinner makes emphasis on how environment helps shape the way we are. Another problem we face understanding our freedom is “self-control,” defined as the ability to control our behaviors when presented a stimulus and necessary in order to achieve what an individual desires. “A person eats too much and gets sick but survives to eat too much again.” The person isn’t executing his ability of self-control, the food is controlling what he does therefore eating again and repeating the
control. Your freedom is taken away and is now controlled by a compulsion that takes over all of
Some people may say that having control over someone or something can bring satisfaction and a sense of power. In the an article called “Gunman Kills Himself After Hostage Drama (584)” written by Charles P. Wallace and Tim Waters loss of control and the feeling of being helplessness makes Robert B. Rose commit a last act of asserting control over himself. In another article written by Martin E.P. Seligman called “On Learned Helplessness (585)” the feeling of loosing control of oneself is something that can cause someone to do things that they thought they would never do. What is hard to understand is that some of the things the someone may commit may implicate the lives of others in a negative way and the ending result could be death.
