Water coloring has been around for centuries, they originated from Western artist during the 1400s. However, in 1780 William Reeves, a UK artist started selling the first soluble dry cakes watercolor painting making the

So, we had a member of my group ‘‘Emily Zenisak’’ who showed a couple of her friends and recorded their reactions to the painting.
The first volunteer was Kayla Rrymarz, a freshman at Grand Valley State University. Kayla initial reaction was ‘‘On first glance it looks like pieces from an old house and all the things on the bottom are supporting the house.’’ She followed up with ‘‘I think the meaning is what the 1950s? It looked like the culture belonged to the U.S because of the American flag on the side. She concluded with ‘‘I think the stool was weird and I didn’t like it, but the house on top I did like.’’
The second volunteer was another Grand Valley freshman named Miranda Chahine. ‘‘My first impression of the painting was the stripped tie because it immediately caught my attention. My take on the meaning wasI thought it expressed the American Dream. The aspects that are good are it can be perceived as an everyday meaning.’’ However Chahine followed up with ‘‘ I did not like the layout of the art because it did not make
This painting is a portrait of an old woman who is sitting on a chair while facing to the left. She is wearing a yellow flower dress with a beige jacket while sitting in an empty room. Her beauty is illustrated by her curly, gray hair and also her wrinkled face, neck, and hands. These details is what makes her look real and pure. I like how detailed it is because it reminds me of my grandmothers.
Upon entering the museum I was bombarded by this 12 x 45 ft. architectural painting. Almost resembling the museum building itself. With sharp horizontal and verticals lines, this multi colored piece reminded me of our last piece from project 8. Using a variety of colors with no obvious correlation, the clash of colors instantly made me reflect on how I could improve future and previous projects alike. The amount of straight lines in different lengths and widths, also reminded me of our piece from project 1. With no curves and lines going every which way, its amazing how a piece made entirely of lines with no figures could be so captivating.
context such as race and gender, and the history of the painting. In addition, I will be
“This world is but a canvas to our imagination”; which always has been throughout the years. Art has been separated in different categories such as architectures, sculptures, photography and paintings. For my semester project, which was to visit an art or historic museum; my classmates and I went to the Reynolda House Museum of American art which provided us both the art and history. At first, we all assume that the visit would be boring or the art gallery would be dull. What shocked us the most was the actual experience being in the museum instead of just talking about it. We experienced multiple feelings during our visit in the art gallery as well as the historic area. From the art gallery which held many paintings of artist, to the house that R.J Reynolds and his family once occupied. Furthermore, it also showed us the legacy of R.J Reynolds and his family has left behind for the people of Winston-Salem.
The museum is a very interesting place where amazing exhibits are around you. While entering the museum and exploring the different art one drawing seemed to catch my eye the most. The title of the drawing was called “Dying Solider”. In this piece of art their were three working people in the drawing. It was a man portraying a janitor, an older lady scrubbing hardwood floors, and a woman taking care of an infant. Those three descriptions of the images makes me realize how hard an African American house hold had to work.
What insights into the American Dream are offered through the novella Of Mice and Men and the film American Beauty? In your essay you must consider the influences of context and the importance of techniques in shaping meaning.
The portrait is displayed horizontally with a gold trimmed frame. The subject is a female that looks to be in her early 20’s sitting upright on a large brown chair. If the viewer travels up the painting the first indication of the woman’s class is her satin, blue dress. The saturated blue shines and falls in the light like water. Paired with the dress are her exceptionally detailed endings to her sleeves. The lace is even painted as though it is translucent, allowing a little of the blue dress to show through the sleeve. Flowers throughout history have symbolized innocence of a woman and her virginity. The repeating theme of flowers, in the sleeve cuffs and ribbon) in the woman’s attired suggests her purity or innocent nature. Another very details section of the painting includes the corset/torso details. The sewing suggests texture in the torso with small beading in between. Towards the top of the chest in the center, the female seems to bear an extravagant, ribbon piece with a tear drop bead in the center. The light pink
The photography was first published as a feature 1956 in Life Magazine. The picture shows two black females, a little girl and a woman, observing several white plastic dolls on display. For me, the art piece raises a lot of emotions and questions such as exclusion, segregation and however our society is equal or not. What I like mostly about the image is how it portraits our stereotyped society.
There is also a mirror placed on the table allowing the viewers to link with space beyond the frame. Also in the far back right of the painting you can see a young man talking to an elderly. The artist created an very old or old-fashioned look by using opposing colors, red and green. “The second half of the fifteenth century in northern Europe saw an expansion of genre
In nutshell, this painting is altogether amazing and beautiful. I remember staring at it for a couple minutes trying to
Each character in the novel has their own interpretation of the ‘American Dream – the pursuit of happiness’ as they all lack happiness due to the
A blue house, red shutters, and a white picket fence with a border collie. Three kids are running around in the front lawn up on a hilltop. That is what the American dream is right? The American dream is truly in the eye of the beholder. One might think that the American dream is an apartment in downtown Los Angeles, but others might want the smell of fresh cut grass in a small suburb. It’s whatever the person who is working for it wants it to be. As we can see in the play, all of the main characters might be striving for an American dream, but none of them are striving for their same American dream.
My analysis of how successful and how did this artwork affect the society and culture as its target
Then there are also many psychological lines to be seen in the work. One such line is of the woman and the floor, where she is staring down towards it. Another is from the young child and the store clerk, showing a defiance between the two. Next, light and value are not very contrasting in this painting, with only the basic highlights and the shadows seen. It isn’t completely contrasting or contradicting since the colors blend well together with close to the same value ranges, dark colors seen throughout except for the people’s pale faces. There also seems to be a variety of light sources since the woman’s face along with the shop clerk and the young boy’s is lit up by what seems to be a light bulb since they’re much brighter and highlighted and then the men and women in the back aren’t really as bright, except for the ones who close to the open door, creating a blue tinge from the outside light. The shapes shown through the painting is shown to be either very round or very geometrical. There are organic shapes in things such as the umbrella or even the back of the chair, but mostly it is either straight lines and geometrical shapes. The volume shown in the painting is very much implied, correctly showing the
When I saw the painting for the first time it grabbed my attention. At first I thought it was the beautiful colors that attracted me to the painting, but it was more. In the picture the shadowy men look scared. They looked as though they were trying to run away from something and this lake that forms into this river that is surrounded by tall grass is the way out, or at least a place to hide until the coast is clear. During that time in my life I felt
