Most people might say that middle children are the “go getters in the world”. One might even be able argue that it’s fact, using famous middle children Bill Gates, Princess Diana, and Martin Luther King Jr as clear examples. While one Weber State student may not have invented a software program, be part of the royal family, or play a major role in the civil rights movement, she definitely fits the description of a “go getter” middle child.
Katrina Thompson, a senior at Weber State University has a lot going on during her final two semesters, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in child and family study and a minor in communication. Katrina currently works for Country Care assisted living, as a full time certified nursing assistant, and has been there for eight years. She says, “I go through waves, with trying to decide if I should look for a new job or stay where I am; but when the people I work with are so nice, and the pay so good it’s hard to leave.”
All though she stays busy with work and school, she is deeply devoted to both her religion. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which emphasizes the importance of family and missionary work, she has had the opportunity the serve a full time proselyting mission. In June 2007 she was sent to the Recife mission in North East Brazil. When asked

Katrina and her fiancé Josh are planning to be married in the spring of 2017. Her and her fiancé met on campus during finals week, at the testing center. Josh says, “she sat write behind me in the line and continued her conversation with her friend right in front of me. As they continued to talk I intercepted the conversation and started talking with Katrina… I play a lot of football; just pick up games and what not, [and] I’ve intercepted a lot of footballs but that was my best
One thing that makes nursing a good career is the difference that I can make in someone’s life. Although it requires commitment and dedication, nursing is one of the most rewarding professions. It’s about caring, listening, thinking, organizing, and leading. Nurses make a difference in their patient’s lives by providing hands on care and assisting complete strangers in leading a healthier life. The warm feeling of ‘helping others out,’ giving back to the community, and influencing the success of nationwide healthcare makes nursing an intrinsically rewarding career field to pursue. Nurses are helping patients and families during their intimate times of need.
Being the third children always had an impact on how I felt growing up. My older brother was smart and naturally received a lot of attention since he was the first child. My sister has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease which constantly requires a lot of attention from my parents. As I got older, I had to find a way to differentiate myself. Besides my schoolwork, the only way that I could stand out was to play a sport. Being able to play the sport nicknamed “The Game of Failure” changed my perception on how to react to life. No matter how many times I failed, I kept going.
A combination of these experiences and his educational background of a Diploma in Nursing, a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Management and a Masters in Corporate and Public Communication inspired my curiosity on understanding what sparked Amber’s will to be such an all-around person in the nursing profession. Amber said “to grow, one has to be willing to work hard. Nursing is beyond a gentle touch.” This phrase gave me the understanding that nursing requires considerate exposure to all the life aspects. With that understanding, one can treat patients and fellow medical professionals well. One gets to understand everything that affects their professional life, and life outside the workspace.
Early years play a significant role in the life of any human being. Recently, there has been a lot of discussions about whether kids should spend their early years in school or not. In this essay, the reasons for students spending time in school until the age of eighteen will be discussed.
There were plenty of memories in high school. Just making it to high school was a good memory. Most of them were during my freshman, sophomore, and junior years.
In comparison to experiencing the health settings ourselves, we were to interview a health profession in our field. Since I not only knew the woman I shadow but she was also in the field I desired, I decided to interview her about her career path and how she became a RN. The woman I interviewed initially told me that when she went to school, she never thought that she would ever end up within nursing. Her first career that she completed was when she graduated from Temple University as a social worker. With this degree, she worked at a welfare office for almost 10 years. She then proclaimed that she felt like there was more for her to do. She was tired of the same routine of sitting at a desk, filling out paperwork and answering calls for people to collect benefits. In addition, she stated that she had realized that she could be helping individuals in a broader way, therefore she decided to reattend college. With
“Teaching Helping Inspiring and Nurturing Kids Together” or as it is more commonly known “THINK Together” is an after-school program, that provides students with meaningful experiences and a safe environment where students utilized those skills throughout the rest of their lives to become productive adults and positive members of society. At Lakeside Middle School in the Little Lake City School District (LLCSD), the THINK Together program follows the “Middle School Expanded Learning” curriculum that highlights five “spotlights” or areas of focus: math, language arts, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), arts, and youth development. In addition, it has also served as a great alternative for parents and guardians to utilize as a safe source for after-school care, academic support, and alternative experiences such as cooking, sports, art, sign language, etc. The THINK Together program at Lakeside and all other 200 plus sites in Orange, Los
Unfortunately, there are sick children around the world, and some of them have unhealable diseases - with designer babies it is possible for parents to con-ceive a second child, who is healthy and the child is might able to cure its sick sibling. Is it wrong to create a second baby to remedy a sick child? Jonathan Moreno, a bio medical ethicist at the University of Virginia says, that it does not raise a big prob-lem for him since children creat-ed with the purpose of helping its sibling gets the same amount of love as the first born. Moreno points out, that we hopefully will be able to use our own cells and tissues to cure ourselves in the future, so these ethical ques-tions do not have to be raised again.
I feel that when my parents were thinking of having kids the thought of how many they wanted didn’t cross their minds. My parents had eight kids all together and I feel that eight is too many at times, but I still wouldn’t want to have it any other way. Growing up with so many people has given me the opportunity to experience seven different personalities and how to get on their nerves. Having this many siblings has its’ ups and downs from transportation to fist fight because someone ate someone else’s’ hidden stash of snacks when clearly they weren’t hidden well enough. Many experiences that I have been through recently don’t come close to the humiliation I had brought upon myself when I was eleven years old and how my family members used
I am writing to explain in detail what I want the court to order. I want the child support that I pay for my daughter Bri'Aysia Collins reduced to 80.00 per month. As of now I am paying 286.00 which is an obstruct amount. The amount I am currently paying has made it very hard for me to take care of my family. The following reasons should be taking into consideration. I work at Corix Utilities and I average 26.00 hours weekly at an hourly pay rate of 14.00. I also have a second child that stays with me seven days a week. I have full responsibility of my second child. I have to pay for diapers, wipes and clothes. Iam currently order to pay 566.83per month in child support for my second child. My monthly expenses include rent, utilities, phone,
Our years growing up weren’t always fun and games. Things between me and my older brother were often hectic and violent. Were three years apart and for the first 6 years of me being alive I shared a room with this nasty, booger picking, trash throwing little boy. It was not fun. One day we came home from school and I went straight to my room and played with my barbies and I completely forgot I was supposed to play Just Dance with him after school and he was so mad when and hour passed and i was still sitting on my floor making my two barbies fight each other. He stormed in my room, he took the blonde barbie out of my hand and grabbed her feet and i just saw him completely mutilate my favorite doll. I was so angry i screamed at the top of my
The most anxiety-inducing, exhilarating, and fulfilling experiences in my life all involve preschoolers. Irksome and affectionate, I never know how to feel about kids. One moment, kicking me in the shin, and the next, asking to sit by me and hold my hand, kids baffle me. Teaching and interacting with preschoolers has stretched me farther than what I thought was possible, and made me a better person. I have learned to be more prepared than I need to be, as preschoolers have a way of thinking up the most obscure questions I never thought of. Sweet and kind, I know their intention is not to vex me, but to learn from me. Because of this, I have learned to be patient and helpful, helping them achieve their goal, which is also mine. I want them to
A child will get the common cold about five times a year, this is going to help build their immune system. The child will have a mild fever, congestion, coughing and a sore throat. To treat the common cold for a child is children’s ibuprofen or acetaminophen, lots of fluids, saline for his or her nose to help keep is moist, and a cool mist humidifier to help break up the mucus. Do not give the child cough or cold medicine. Most kids will bounce back from this in five to seven days and they will get about five common colds a year. If the child is under six months call your pediatrician and they will tell you what you need to do.
On important thing for us as a teacher is to see and know that the children are growing and learning on our environment. That is why is important to have the children’s interests, because if we have the children’s interests we will see that the child is putting attention to as and learning. We a child is learning is because we have capture his interests. Is important to use things on the class room that are attracted to the child this way we will get their interests. Having the child interest is very important, because when we have their full attention we will see that the children don’t misbehave. It is important to see that the child is learning and having record of it can help us to see in what or how can we help children.
The third stage is Middle Childhood which goes from four years old to seven years old. The child will begin to develop their Initiative versus Guilt. At this point in a child’s life, he or she is able to do any kind of motor skill on their own. They develop a sense of purpose by devising bold plans and taking great pride in accomplishing goals they set (Sigelman & Rider, 2003, p. 302). Central to this stage is play, as it provides children with the opportunity to explore their interpersonal skills through initiating activities (McLeod, 2013). When a child plays, they use their imagination and develop their brain. By using their imagination and playing, they are teaching themselves new motor skills. The child is going to have more initiative
