I think the most difficult issue in middle adulthood is the mid-life crisis. Mid-life crisis can be triggered by many different changes that occur in that point and time such as divorce, relationship status, frustration with the aging process, unemployment, etc. Over all, people start to worry about their health because the two main physical concerns associated with adult physical development are the loss of bone mass, loss of cognitive function, arthritis, heart disease, and malnutrition, etc. Although some of the age-related changes cannot be stopped entirely because it’s a process that must take place. Therefore, the social worker, could educate the family or individuals with whatever crises they were facing at the time and provide the family
At some point, middle-aged men and women ages 45-64 will feel that something is missing. When looking at what they have, these people will sense emptiness in being excited in what they do. Maybe they lack friendship and happiness, or, if lonely, frustrated sexually for a lack of love life. How they handle it varies; an extensive vacation can help, while others turn to medications such as anti-depressants. These people are in a place right now they did not plan to be or want, putting themselves in a very lonesome position.
Mid-life crisis explain as a extremity in a middle ages, in people’s lives. Where middle ages may face a disappearance of identity and reduce their self-confidence. Midlife crisis has been known around the world for many years but has not always been believed by everyone because not everyone face it. Mid-life crisis is more of a normal change period that generally happen the time of a major life event that emphasizes getting older. A midlife crisis is something more person dependent rather than something everyone experiences. People go through many different experiences in their lives that happen at different time periods in their lives. Some experiences may seem worse than others and can make people feel like they will never be equal to anyone. On the other side, Some people may not experience any type of crisis during their middle age years. As we grow older we begin to put people aside and focus on new experiences in our lives such as having a career or having children. I accept that midlife crises do exist, but I am sure not everyone believe the same because some people might not happen .
Middle childhood is a time that involves many changes for individuals as they are growing and maturing throughout their life span. These differences can be different depending on their sex and the way that they mature. They have significant differences from early childhood in both their cognitive development and their physical development. This also includes the social environment. A significant part of their development can be influenced by the way they are raised in their childhood, and especially in their middle childhood.
Aging is a normal process that everyone will journey through in a life time. A journey that produces change and experience that will cause a person to go through transitions. Transitioning can be a difficult process to adapt to if lacking support and resources. Retirement is a transition that many people will experience. Retirement does not affect everyone the same way. Some people are happy to retire and some people are unhappy about retirement. The retirement age for Americans is 65 years old. This age group is part of the late adulthood and is known as seniors or older adults. In late adulthood, people can transition through three different stages. According to Ashford & LeCroy (2012), “The sub-period for late adulthood are young-old, middle-old,
BB was my family’s neighbor for most of my childhood and the mother of a close friend of mine, who is the same age as me. She presented most of the typical characteristics of middle adulthood growth and development, which is referenced in Appendix A. The only area where she deviated from the expected characteristics of this age group is the amount of contact with siblings and friends (Arnett 2016). Typically, individuals of this age group demonstrate a decline in the amount of contact they have with siblings and long-time friends. In the interview she noted that the relationship she has with her sister began to strengthen and there was an increase in the amount of time spent with her sister and friends as she entered into her 40’s. She believes this increase in socializing is due to her daughter becoming more autonomous. Aside from this deviation,
Physical: In young adults, they can physically perform better in most areas because of the maximum muscle tissue, more brain mass, increased ability for oxygen capacity and better eyesight, sense of smell and hearing because of the adolescent growth development. In middle adulthood, the physical development starts to decline with strength and co-ordination, hearing and vision starts to decrease, memory becomes less efficient and body fat now starts to account for about 20% of total body weight. During late adulthood, the physical decline rates becomes dependent on early and middle adulthood lifestyle choices, the general decline of the physical body begins to include: muscle fibre atrophy, the cardiovascular system less efficient and so does
Entering adulthood can not be defined by a number. Instead, the transition is marked by discovering your purpose in life which can sometimes feel impossible. Some may transition at a very young age, like myself while others may take longer. At the young age of 13 I began my journey into adulthood.

Middle-aged adults experience change in many different areas of their life at this time, they will find that not only their health is changing, but their appearance, their family, their thinking, and their emotions are changes as well. When discussing people that fall into the middle adulthood age of life, the term “midlife crisis” is often used, but according to an article titled Middle Adulthood Developmental Psychology, “most people during middle adulthood are satisfied and pleased with their lives”, ("Physical Changes," 2008-2013, expression 1). Peck (1968) suggests that it is psychologically healthy for middle-aged adults to redefine the people in their lives so they can find value in their relationships (Zastrow, 2011). Michael a 45-year old male with no children, weight issues, and a girlfriend with children of whom he is uncertain about in his life is struggling with dealing with his weight and health issues. In addition, to his personal problems Michael also has his sister Taylor to look after who has been diagnosed with HIV. The life stage that I was assigned was young adulthood. Young adulthood is the life stage immediately following adolescence, beginning at age twenty and ending at age forty. Since these stages are so close together, the beginning of young adulthood can blend with the end of adolescence. However, the most prominent change is the shift from struggling to find out where you fit in as an adolescent to finding out who you are as an individual, apart from your parents, as a young adult.
Young adulthood is a time of life when a person has just entered adulthood from adolescence. During young adulthood one is less mature or one can say they are just like the adolescents but little more mature and their body has fully developed as compared to adolescents. There are many ups and down in young adulthood
The group I chose to observe is late adulthood. I proceeded to observe late adulthood people at the Eagle’s Bingo. The group participating in Bingo is a large group and consists of men and women, with very few young people. I observed the players for quite a long time and found the experience interesting. I noticed many different interactions among the group members but the most important is a lack of exclusion of any member from the group. The group consisted of people of many different nationalities, Oriental, Native American, American, from my observations. The cultural similarities seemed to span with the love of Bingo and brought many different type of people together.
His biggest dream was to enter the military after high school graduation. He applied and was refused because of his epilepsy. He was so intent on getting into the service that he waited a year and applied again, this time lying about his condition and not putting it on the application form. He got all the way into basic training when he told a friend about his lie. That friend told the commander and he was kicked out. He recalls being very disappointed and devastated because this was the only thing he wanted to do. As an average student he wasn’t interested in going to college. His greatest challenge as a young adult was dealing with his epilepsy and coming to terms with the reality that a career path he had always dreamed of and had the most passion for was not going to happen for him. He enjoyed cooking so he worked at several restaurants as a grill cook. He recalls being wild and sexually promiscuous. When the AIDS epidemic began he put a stop to that type of behavior so as not to contract that disease. It was during this time that he met his first wife and they were married in 1985 when he was 30 year-old. Although his wife was the same age he recalls knowing it wouldn’t last because he was attracted to much older women. When I asked him why he married her then he said sadly “because I thought that was expected of me”. Their social life consisted of working at their jobs and going out socially to concerts and sporting events. They hung
