A true high school has no happy ending. There is no “happily ever after”, there is no good kid who stays out of trouble and ends up becoming the most popular kid in school. There is no ugly kid who ends up dating the most popular girl in school. All of that is a fantasy thought up to keep middle schoolers from being scared of growing up. Because no matter where you live, highschool is a dark place. A real highschool story needs lies. It needs run ins with the law. It needs sadness. Too many times only the good things are shown in highschool stories, and if negative things do happen, they are never as bad or as scary as they are in real life. All you will do is end up wasting your life away.” this troubled mitchell. His whole view of the world is changed, and this would lead him on a darker path, as it would any confused teenager.
Mitchells personality did a complete 180. The once quiet, nicely dressed boy had taken up the style of his surroundings, and now instead of wearing collared shirts and cargo pants, wore baggy jeans and gold chains.
His friends changed as well. The few friends Mitchel had outside of his family where extreme catholics as well, and stopped talking to him when he changed the way he did. So he branched out, and begun hanging out with the kids in his neighborhood he had casually known for years. During his sophomore year, Mitchell began hanging out with these new friends everyday. Everyday their oldest friend Ricardo would drive him and his friend Alejandro from school to a dealer's house, and they would stay at the dealer's house and smoke marijuana till they had to go home late at night. However even though Mitchell did this every day, his grades never fell. He still helped his family around the house and spent time with them, and Mitchell realized his dad had been right.
