The Mexican-American War was incorrectly named; it was not simply Americans vs Mexicans, but a war between opinions. America’s war with Mexico: a war for land, for the sake of Manifest Destiny, or perhaps, a war to be started and ended in victory by… a thief. This war was supported and criticized by Americans and Mexicans alike. Manifest Destiny was a belief that it was God’s Plan to for America to expand to the Pacific Ocean, and a very controversial belief, at that. Before this war of opinions, the US already created a tense relationship with its neighbor by providing aid to the Texas Rebellion, and later annexing Texas. The United States was not Justified in going to war with Mexico because Texas was signed over, with no extra land, America was obviously itching to go to war, and settlers agreed to become Mexican citizens in the first place

America was unjustified because of the disputed of the territory. (Hook) Texas and Mexicans aren't being far to each other, or not letting one another have an equal part in the territories because Texas and the US believe their border was on Rio but the Mexicans thought theirs was the Nueces River they both want more land than the other causing a fight or a war. (Doc D) They are rude and disrespectful to the Mexicans when they lived in the Mexican territory, Because they think that since they live in mexico and we aren't Mexican we don't have to obey the laws/rules that they have made.Texas and Mexico both want big land masses so they fight over who gets what causing war between the two of them.

The United States of America has been through many wars, wars concerning many things such as land oil, pride and respect. However, when the United States went to war with Mexico, it was planned over greed. The Mexican- American war was a war provoked by the United States, in efforts to expand the coasts of the country. Mexico was a small under privileged country who had previously to the war had already lost part of their country (Texas). Needless to say this war was cut throat and violent, it was however one of the smartest business decisions America has ever made.

As Texans began demanding freedom, they deciding to away from Mexico, causing tensions between the United States and Mexico. In 1845, tensions began to lead to threats between the two countries when the United States decided to annex Texas into their country and ultimately led to the Mexican-American war. The U.S. was not justified in going to war with Mexico. A reason is that James K. Polk, president at the time, decided to send American soldiers onto disputed territory which Mexico thought was theirs. First reason of why America was not justified in going to war with Mexico because was because of America's invasion. “ the troops commanded by General Zachary Taylor arrived at the Rio Grande across from the city of Matamoros, increasing the possibility of a confrontation”. One reason the Mexican War was unjustified was that America had no respect for Mexican Government. U.S. didn’t follow the laws (Doc D). They brought in slaves when Mexico made it illegal for slavery.America ignored Mexico's rules(Paragraph 4 Background Essay). It quotes,” the American government acted like a bandit who came upon a traveler”. Which means that America stole things from Mexico(Doc C). This evidence shows that the U.S. was unjustified in going to war because they didn’t have any respect for Mexico. By not listening to people whom they were owned by. So in that case America was unjustified.

One reason the Mexican War was unjustified was because the US broke their laws. A way we broke their laws were by bringing slaves across though they did not allow it. “Slaveholders crossed the Sabine[river between Louisiana and Texas] with their slaves, in defiance of the Mexican ordinance of freedom.”{Doc.D Paragraph 3} Though Mexico had abolished slaves we ignored them and brought them with us anyway. D Paragraph 1} This evidence shows the US was unjustified in going to war because the US has gone too far with trying to show Mexico with who deserved the land. Though we want the disputed territory to enlarge our nation we do not deserve the land because we broke laws. Mexico only wanted the land to make up for land they had lost early on.

America was justified in going into war with Mexico because they wanted to respect their soldiers,Texas was now an American state,and Mexico lost control of the land.It took four people to cause the Revolutionary War,and it only took 16 men to start the Mexican-American War.In order to respect the American soldiers that were killed,America needed to go to war.Document B it states, “Texas had determined to annex herself to our union,and under these circumstances,it was it was plainly our duty to extend our protection over her citizens soil.”(Doc B)When Texas declared its independence,it was known to soon become an American state.Texas was seen as a sister to America and they wanted to protect the land that was invaded.On Document A it states,

One reason the Mexican War was not justified was that America was land hungry. In Doc.B paragraph 2 it says “Citizens of the United States had already begun to move into Texas.” Americans moved into the Texas land. They took over Texas. Mexico did not appreciate that. When the American troops commanded by General Zachary Taylor went to the Rio Grande taking over that territory and made a high risk of meeting the Mexican troops. In Document C. paragraph 3 it says “In the eyes of the (Mexican) government, the mobilization of the U.S. army was an outright attack on Mexico.” America mobilized

To add to that, Document C, an article on the viewpoint of Mexico on the war with America, thinks the same thing. A Mexican force attacked the troops when they arrived at the Rio Grande River because it was “occupying the territory in dispute and increasing the possibilities of a confrontation … the mobilization of the U.S. army was an outright attack on Mexico…” This evidence shows that the U.S. troops approaching the border looked very suspicious and like an act of war in Mexico’s point of view, when it was simply a misunderstanding and nothing more. When something or someone gets misused or treated wrong, a strong solution is to fight back. In 1846 a war between Mexico and America had started being named the Mexican American War. Before the war Mexico had owned the province of Texas, and this was meant to include Americans to join them. That was not a good idea, because Mexico and America had different beliefs. Texas did not approve of their beliefs and tried to leave them, but matters only got worse. At this time Mexico and America were about the same size, and Mexico wanted to keep growing after freedom from Spain. Texas is angry and the United States wants to go to war with Mexico. The United States was justified in going to war with Mexico because of Mexico’s bad government, that Mexico invaded and shot the US, and because everyone wants to go to war!

Mexico held California, Texas, and the west, but America wanted to own it (Doc A). Even so their were already people taking it into their own hands to fulfil the manifest destiny making it difficult for America to acquire the west peacefully (Doc A). John O’sullivan said “the Anglo-Saxon foot is already on California's borders.”(Doc A paragraph 3) Finally, the people that were on Mexican land were still under our protection, so if the people got rebellious it was America's fault. America wanted it also so America did not cause more problems with Mexico.This evidence shows that America was justified in going to war with Mexico because Mexico was not letting the U.S. fulfil their manifest

The two countries went to war after Texas had declared itself an independent republic and the U.S had annexed it. This stained the relationship between the United States and Mexico. Also, on top of that, Mexico and the United States could not agree on a border. The U.S believed that the Rio Grande was the border, but Mexico thought the Nueces River was the border. Why was the U.S in a war with Mexico? You see it started in 1821 when Texas signed a treaty with the U.S. (I’ll get to that soon). Mexico was getting mad that Texas signed with the U.S because Mexico thought that Texas was their territory and they also thought the U.S took Texas from them. While you're reading this essay think about this was the U.S justified in going to war with Mexico In my opinion the U.S was justified in going to war with Mexico for number of reasons it's their Manifest Destiny, they needed land, and they needed retaliation for attack on Tayor.
