In the beginning of 1985 in Mexico there was an earthquake that killed about 10,000
people.I was in that earthquake with my family. It all started in the morning when we were
eating. When all of the sudden the ground started to shake. We didn't know what to do. So, we
went outside there was a lot of people yelling. The earthquake lasted about 3 minutes. When
the earthquake finally stopped we decide to head back to our cabin. I was really sad when we
got there because our cabin had been destroyed because of the earthquake. Julion my brother
was so happy that our house was destroyed. My brother didn't like living the poor life.
"Oh my god!what has happened to our home?" Mama exclaimed.
"Where are we going to go now?" I said worried.

I had 5 cousins that lived in this house. My uncle talked to my dad about
going to California. My dad was convinced that he will work hard so that we can be able to go to
California. My family wanted to move because here in Mexico we didn't have enough money.
In my cousins house we lived in a small room that we could barely fit.Miguel and Julion were the
only ones that worked. Me and Sandra stayed at home doing chores in the house.
After, being in my cousin's house for about 5 years my dad got enough to pay for a coyote. A
coyote is someone who takes people to California in his truck. They coyote told my dad that we
have to go to Sonora. He will then take us to California. We started to pack our supplies that we
are going to need. The things that I packed was some old shoes that I had since like 2 years
ago and also some old clothing. We took a bus to Sonora. We thanked our cousins for letting us
stay at their home.
"It's time to go family" Miguel said.
"Yay finally we can go out of this place!" Julion happily answered.
"Don't say that that!" Sandra said angrily.

I took a glance at him and noticed that he looked
really worried. I carefully started to get in the truck. The truck smelled like cow poo
and the walls had red dots I wasn't sure what it was. There was also other people
in the truck. After a while of being in truck I fell asleep. When I woke up the
coyote was telling us to get off the truck.
"Sorry people but this is how far I am going to take you" Coyote told us.
"No you told us you were going to take us all the way to California" a woman that
was carrying a baby. "Get out of my car or else I will have to call the police" Coyote demanded.
All of the people got off the car fast excluding me. We watched as the coyote left
with his truck. My dad was so mad because he laid him 4,000 dollars for hi. To
take us to California. We didn't know where we were. Some people started to
walk back to their homes. We stayed there with a man that told us he knew how
to take us to California. That night we slept at a small cave that was nearby. The
next morning we woke up early. The man whose name was Oscar told us that we have
to walk.
"We need to walk until we can find a road and then we can try to get a ride" occur
Everyone started figuring out what they were going to order. I had no idea what to get because generally I don’t eat tacos at restaurants. I decided that I was going to get the kids nachos.
We travelled from our hometown in Spain, a place called Badajoz in a train to Lisboa, Spain. Lisboa had a harbor and from there we boarded the ship
So we had to walk to our friend anthony's and the sky was getting dark and we were
On August 24, 2014 a magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred in and around the city of Napa, CA. The earthquake killed one person and injured over 150 people. And these people were treated at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa [1]. More and more earthquakes occurred on this earth. So this grasps people’s attention.
The Kobe earthquake in Japan 1995 struck at 5.45am. Many people were asleep in bed, causing the hazard to be increased because the people were unaware. Although many Japanese buildings were of aseismic design, the roofs of their houses were designed to withstand typhoons and so were very heavy. When the earthquake struck many people
You were asleep, it was 5:12 am suddenly a huge shock came. This is what happened in the 1906 earthquake in San Francisco. The 1906 earthquake in California affected many people and has been ranked as one of the worst earthquakes. Part of the importance today of the earthquake was its sheer size. It was 5:12 when a foreshock came and a bit later the earthquake happened it stretched as far as 80 kilometers or about 49 miles.
A "coyote" is not only a wolf-like wild dog that is native to North America, it also is a name for someone who profits from smuggling immigrants across the US border, typically the Mexican border for a high fee. There's much myth and lure that is surrounding the coyote dog-like animal and there are thousands of stories and believes about what coyote means. It’s the great trickster, it has magical powers, the medicine dog. The bringer of misfortune, signifying a time when everything backfires. Indeed, symbolism is extracted from such myths and used to represent ideas or qualities. The story seems to follow the lure in the way the Coyotes have many symbolic contexts throughout the story that add a deeper meaning to the “The Tortilla Curtain.”
Then we jump on the tractor trailer and took a seat on the hay barrel. We drove past gravestones and a fake person, well that's what we thought till he
Every time I went to El Cedro a small town in Guanajuato, Mexico, I still remember that one time my family (including parents, grandparents, siblings, and few uncles and aunts with their children) and I spend an amazing family time in that place, and I’m hoping it could happen again and again. We woke up very early since we had to pack everything we needed, such as the food and some chairs, plates, cups, and something to drink. my parents and my uncles were going to make some barbeque later that day. Then we waited for everybody to meet up at my house so we can all leave together. When all the people were there, we separated into two groups
This was just the first day; the following day there was another earthquake with a magnitude of 8.5. They were able to record the quake on a Momentum Magnitude scale. (Paul Fairclough, TheGuardian)
Coyote took a deep breath, sprang up, and grabbed a piece of the burning wood. He sprinted as fast as his legs would carry him down the mountain.
For my current events paper, I chose to write about the earthquake that hit Mexico City, I selected an article from Houston public media news titled ”Mexico City Earthquake Update: All children accounted for” Mexico City suffered from two power earthquakes just 12 days apart. On September 7th, the first earthquake hit the capital, sending distress throughout the city , and breaking record as the most powerful earthquake to hit Mexico in a century. Then again on September the 19th Mexico suffered another earthquake which took place approximately 100 miles from Mexico City. Officials were finally able to report that there were no longer any missing children at a Mexico City school that had been severely damaged “We’ve done an accounting with school officials, and we are certain that all the children either died, unfortunately, are in the hospital or are safe at their homes,” (pt.3, Sarmiento 2017) “he said 19 children and six adults were killed in the school
Every time I visit my family in Mexico, I bring back memories that will stay with me forever. The memories I made this summer will stay with me, but unlike most other memories, I wouldn’t mind forgetting this one.
Back in 2012 my parents and I arrived to California with the help of some family members. It
In 1994 the United States had a population of 263.3 million people.
