Today we are going to talk about a drug called meth. Methamphetamine is a strong central nervous system stimulant that is mainly used as a recreational drug. When taken, meth creates a sensory faculty of well-being and energy, and so a person will tend to push his or her body further than it is meant to go. Methamphetamines is a schedule II drug on the DEA list, is only available by prescription and used to treat conditions such as narcolepsy, ADHD, and obesity. Most methamphetamines are created in surreptitious laboratories across the world and sold on the streets of america.

Frequent use often put a strain on the heart which causes an irregular heartbeat such as heart palpitations that can cause cardiovascular collapse and or death. Long term meth use causes liver, kidney and lung damage along side the heart and brain damage. An arrhythmia, which is a condition in which the heart beats with an irregular or abnormal rhythm is also common with meth use. Symptoms include shortness of breath, chest pain, and loss of consciousness. When the heart pumps the blood through the body each beat is a very rapid series of two contractions but with an arrhythmia the heartbeat can be fluttering or too fast, which can result in organ failure due to diminished flow of blood and oxygen supply to the tissues. Continuing to use meth after the initial heart problems can lead to sharp chest pains and heavy pressure on the enlarged heart. These are the first signs of a heart attack. Meth use creates a chemical reaction between sugar and amphetamines that changes enzymes and amino acids and creates inflammation and immunoglobulins known as antibody responses. This explains why meth users become tolerant of the drug and need more and more of the drug to achieve the desired high. The antibody response can expel methamphetamine from the red blood cells to quickly. This which means that a higher dose of the meth is needed. When you have high blood pressure, inflammation causes cholesterol to stick to the walls of your blood vessels, forming a plaque on the walls of the arteries. This clogs the arteries, capillaries, and blood vessels which leads to inflammation and vessel constriction, which can gravely harm the circulatory system.
