Meow Mix Commercial
This commercial is for Meow Mix Irresistibles Cat Treats. In the beginning, it shows a cat peeking out from under a pile of laundry. The cat then ducks back down and the owner looks at him. The owner is an average looking, younger woman and the cat is brown with a dark coloring. Next, the cat keeps his head out of the laundry basket and the owner looks happy and surprised to see him there. While the cat is in the laundry basket, there is slow music that resembles the Meow Mix theme song. The cat’s owner then grabs a bag of treats lying on the floor. The word “irresistible moments” is also said at this time while the cat is jumping out of the basket. This implies that the treats are delicious and that cats cannot get enough of them. The owner feeds the cat a treat and he meows. The owner is delighted to feed her cat these treats and in

Plain folks appeal is used to show that anyone can buy these treats for their cat and feed it to them. This is shown by an average woman in a normal looking house. Pathos is used to show the emotional appeal of giving your cat a treat. It shows the cat leaping out of the basket to be next to his owner. The owner petting the cat afterwards gives people an emotional appeal since it is cute. The satisfaction and joy of giving your cat a treat also shows pathos since many cat owners will be able to relate to this. Repetition is shown by the words “meow” being repeated in a catchy jingle. “Irresistible moments” is an example of loaded language because it is saying that if one buys these treats, your cat will automatically gravitate towards them and will seem to love their owner. It also hints at the fact that your cat will not be able to resist these treats. Transfer is shown when the cat runs towards his owner for a treat. This connects to the audience's emotions because the cat creates a feeling of joy and maybe a feeling of even wanting or playing more with a
Emotional Appeal was used in the commercial too. The 3 dogs were cute and funny in the way they tried to get the doritos. The music is also entertaining
The reason for this is that from the advertisement one could sense an appeal to our sense of identity, self-interest and emotions. It added some amount of excitement and humor. A positive image was created from the video about the Papa John’s Pizza and it really made me feel persuaded to buy the pizza.
Because the advertisement was aired five months after the September 11 incident, there were intense emotions among the American citizens. Budweiser was aware of this and created a commercial with strong emotional appeals. With pathos loaded, the advertisement seems to appeal to the viewer’s emotional senses. In the beginning, a character in the form of a man is fascinated by the horses. The image of the horses is reflected in the glasses of the windows. Business takes place in this area, but he takes a break from all the activities to watch the passing horses because of the awe factor that the Clydesdales stimulates. Thus, as an audience, I will resonate with the man by showing the same reaction. The behaviors of the man are expected to the audience how they should react as well. They are expected to stop every activity they were performing and understand the powerful message conveyed by the majestic creatures.
Rhetorical appeal is intended to persuade individuals to think a certain way, conduct themselves in a certain manner, or the purchase particular products. Unlike speech in which an individual relies on their persona and content of speech to get their point across to an audience or consumer, advertisements use images to enhance the impact and appeal of logos, ethos, and pathos.
The saddening feeling at the end of the commercial where the narrator is in his bathroom, is an indirect way of appealing to pathos in this commercial. As an audience, you feel sorry for him, missing his chance with “Susan Glenn”. Therefore, of course you don’t want the same thing to happen to you and miss the girl of your dream because you don’t smell good, from not
Pathos is the main rhetorical device used throughout this commercial. Pathos is a quality that evokes emotions. It all begins with the puppy coming out from under the hay and the audience falling in love. Pathos is then used to tug on emotions when the puppy gets lost in the back of the truck. We soon see the emotion of the owner, but also the horse. Then we see the puppy all alone in the rain trying to take shelter. Towards the end, the puppy tries to find a home, but gets himself in trouble with the wolf. We then see the ending, we want, we see the puppy is saved and returns home to end the commercial with the owner enjoying a Budweiser. Throughout this commercial pathos creates a sense of happiness, pride, worry, and then happiness all over
To start with, in the first couple of scenes of the commercial, an animal is following a person around. In the following scene, two people come face to face and they talk about the animal’s name. Then, there is a flashback scene explaining the name of the animal. Towards the end, the commercial advertises its product with an animal in different ways. At the very end, there is a flashback scene of a human and an animal.
In an article “The Last Meow” published in The New Yorker in 2003 the author Burkhard Bilger states “Americans now spend $19 billion a year on veterinary care for their pets, up from $11 billion just seven years ago. Add to that the cost of pet food and other supplies, and the number rises to $47 billion, nearly three times as much as the federal government spends on welfare grants” (Bilger, part 7, paragraph 48) Bilger claims “clearly our love affair with animals has gotten out of control”(Bilger, part 8, paragraph 49). It is a sad state of affairs that Americans spend 15 billion on welfare in this country, and some squabble over money spent on helpless loving animals owned by hard working loving Americans.. America is the land of opportunity
The next commercial starts with a bear running through a forest until meeting what looks to most as a mountain man wearing a coon skin hat, fleece, and having bearded manly face. The bear runs away in fear when he notices the unworried man who is casually carrying an entire tree, defying physics. A song is played in the background of the ad talking about a man should be wild and free. In a manly fashion the mountaineer makes a bird call showing that he is master of nature as a bald eagle then brings him a diet Dr.
Commercial advertisements create a strong presence in the media due to the power of persuading the audience to buy a certain project. The commercial is promoting the use of diet coke and using Taylor Swift to do so. Diet Coke is a sugar free, soft drink that is very popular, it is promoted and distributed worldwide by Coca- Cola. Coca- Cola spends nearly $3.499 billion in advertisements yearly (Investopedia, 2015, 1). This ad catches the eye of the audience with the use of Taylor Swift and the adorable kittens. In this commercial, it is clear that with every sip the pop-culture singer takes of the Diet Coke, more kittens seem to appear in the apartment until the whole apartment becomes invaded with the tiny kittens. This advertisement efficiently delivers the point to the audience during the commercial video by encouraging them to drink their product Diet Coke while trying to increase the consumption of their product, attract more viewers, and sell more of their product.
In the beginning, love is shown through somber facial expressions as he is seen stapling lost dog signs around town. The love is further displayed in the stables while snuggling up next to a horse that evening and the music “I’m Gonna be” by Sleeping at Last. The lyrics “I know I'm gonna be” and “I'm gonna be the man who” are repeated throughout the song indicating the man is pushing to be the best he can be for those that he loves (Sleeping at Last). Love is further displayed at the end of the advertisement with further facial expressions, as the pup is running down the path coming home the actors face lights up and he appears to be in shock that the puppy is returning home. As the advertisement closes, the actor is sitting in the stable with the two things that are important in his life, his horses and his dog. To play on words, the advertisement closes with a #bestbuds, leading the viewer back to the brand, Budweiser, as well as the fallacy, a dog is a man’s best
ad consisted of a party where kids were dancing and along were dancing the 3 little tiny teddies featured on the product packaging. One character of the Tiny Teddy scattered the hundreds and thousands little snacks all over the floor while opening when it was

When we see a commercial on our T.V. screens today, we always see in print or hear the narrator telling us that their product or the service they are promoting to us is one of the best of its kind. They use all types of appeals and techniques to reel us in, making whatever they are trying to sell to us either pretty, shiny, worth-buying, or they use bold simple states telling us things such as, “Once you get it, you won’t be able to live without it.” By using these statements and methods of gaining viewers, the ad or commercial gains what it truly aspired for; attention and the need and/or desire to buy the product. In the ad “Bounty Big Spills” the bold statement and exaggerated visuals are created to
The commercial appeals to the audience’s pathos more than anything. Animals, especially dogs, have a way of pulling with human heartstrings. “...they can be used to transfer desired meanings to the products with which they are associated” (Phillips 1). In other words, using animals in advertisements can link advertised products to the feelings that are associated
