I have worked incredibly hard to obtain skills from various organisations to better understand mental health. I decided I needed to acquire additional work experience to give my application some weight. I am tenacious by nature and therefore despite being somewhat academically inferior to my rivals, I make up for in passion, determination and professionalism. I can assure you my grade does not define my ability to work with vulnerable people, families and colleagues and I would really like the opportunity to demonstrate this at interview. I am keen to explore the depths of applying psychology to health and the behaviour-change processes involved with working with young people in particular.

PERSONAL STATEMENT The number one reason that’s repeatedly given as to why one wants to be a social worker is that, they want to help people. They want to make a difference in the world, and I’m no different from everyone else in that aspect. Nevertheless, my main goal for pursuing a Master’s in Social Work is centered on the idea of helping mentally ill patients. When I was 13, my grandfather became unusually different. He slowly developed a child’s mentality. We all knew he is becoming sick somehow. Many appointments with doctors they finally sent him to a local psychologist. The psychologist worked with him many weeks straight and diagnosed him with a temporary illness. After my grandfather got on his medicine, he went every week. He slowly became better and the psychologist made a difference in my entire family’s life. I want to be able to make this same impact in other families lives. I believe that I have the patience, guidance, and skill for this career. In fact, helping others is very important to me. Since I have seen this first hand, I think I have the skills to be able to help this field. Furthermore, doing much research, talking to psychologists personally, and showing much interest shows that I will be

Medicine is a career filled with many choices but it’s the fate of a person which shapes one’s goal in life by the hurdles it throws one’s way. Like most of my colleagues, I entered Medical School uncertain of specialty choice. Internal medicine is the field that I practiced early on in my career, but the field of Psychiatry always fascinated me and a traumatic personal experience forced me to realize this fact, that this interest in Psychiatry is something which I already had in my instinct.
The first person I interview was Sara Hill and she mention she was an adolescent mental health therapist. Portray your occupation obligations. A typical day for a therapist can be extremely unpleasant. My every day obligations incorporate making protection calls to demonstrate why my customers would profit by proceeding with consideration in the private treatment office. These calls are called "Proceeded with Stay Reviews." After these calls are finished, I am frequently cleared away into various gatherings (staff, clinical, and so forth), individual and family treatment sessions, or an emergency which may include me handling with a customer after a restriction, endeavored escape from the grounds, or something of that nature. As a clinical social worker, I believe my previous employment have prepared me as a clinician. My ability to listen and advocate on behalf of the clients empowers them to use strength-based methods to positively change their outlook for their future. My passion to work with children and veterans of the Armed Forces is also demonstrated in my overall work performance. In addition, I am currently working with Give an Hour as a mental health provider to elicit resources for veterans and their family/friends within the community.
My interest in research, and the overall “mental health/integrative health movement” for me began at an early age. Really before, I ever knew it due to the prophetic call upon my life. However, the moment of “self-realization” emerged for me in 1996, when I was a non-traditional student at Tennessee State University majoring in social work. While attending TSU, I began “dreaming” about starting a non-profit organization that would bring interfaith organizations and the communities together to address mental health and social issues by providing resources, RESEARCH and strategies to make a difference in a community, city, state or the nation. As I continued “dreaming” even while working as a new social worker, Radical, Inc. (Restoring and Developing Interfaith and Communities Through Action & Love) was formulated in 2001, and in 2004 the organization acquired its 501(c)3 status. With myself
The rapid escalation of youth and adults affected by mental health is becoming serious not just in Indiana but all over the United States. In the last several years national tragedies and mass killings such as Sandy Hook has placed our government in the position of reexamining and improving access to mental health treatment. Although the government sees a great need for changing it 's unhurried I have witnessed mental health patients unable to get medication and have limited access to mental health care due to lack of insurance or other barriers. Mental health comes in many different faces some are being treated others are undiagnosed. The current economic crisis and environmental violence has created a fracture within our community as we witness to an increase in murders among youth we need to implement a change for our community in both mental and social services there is a great need for committed individuals that are not in it for the money but who are in this field because they care. This problem resonates deeply with me, I want to continue to grow in this field that I 've been working in since I was twenty-one years old to assist with being part of the solution to our growing crisis. It is for this reason that I am applying to the graduate program in social work at IUPUI. I seek the skills and knowledge needed to get me to the next level of helping our community heal.
