Example from an artist name Melissa Calderon, Melissa Calderon describes herself as a “Puerto Rican Bronx girl, born and raised.” She is a full-time artist who spends everyday in her studio across the street from the Bronx Museum creating multimedia pieces. During a stint of unemployment, she sought relief in the creation of a series of embroidered work that reflected her experience of seeking work and the changes that accompanied this challenging time in her life. “The My Unemployed Life series” took over a year to complete. It was a wonderful eye-opening experience to interview Carmen Anton, a Spanish immigrant for this project. I learned so many things about how she arrived in American as a small child with only her sister by her side and her strive to become American. The emotional struggles of Carmen and her sister, Elena, were real and I didn’t realize it was that emotionally draining to come to a new country. Her experience showed me how hard it is to fit into a new society knowing absolutely nothing about the world she was dropped into. The fact that she flew here with her younger sister and then live for three months without her parents to guide her in this unfamiliar setting, shows me how strong and brave Carmen was at the young age of eight. When she first came, she assumed it would be like
Hello ladies and gentlemen, I am Ashleigh Embry and what I am going to prove is that Melissa Block should be held legally accountable for the criminal act that was displayed by Mr. Kyle Sowell on the night of May 3rd. Ms. Block was seen giving multiple minors alcoholic beverages throughout the party. Mr. Sowell drank in front of his older brother, Frank Sowell, along with Melissa Block. Mr. Sowell was not the only one who had broken a law that night. Ms. Block distributed alcohol to multiple minors, knowing that they were not the age of 21 or older. She admitted to purchasing the alcohol, well aware that there would be minors there. Ms. Block also admitted to the claims of her handing alcoholic beverages to minors as well.

The important thing about the Byzantine Empire is that it prospered for another 1000 years after the fall of Rome. The Roman Empire was split into the Byzantine Empire(East Roman Empire) by Diocletian to make it easier to rule the huge territory. The Emperor Constantine moved the capital to Constantinople, a city where many trade routes pass through. As a result, Constantinople was a rich and prosperous city and so was the empire. Emperor Justinian made a set of laws for all in the empire to follow called the Justinian Code. It covered almost every topic such as robberies, marriage, wills, and etcetera. Later in 1054, the Great Schism occurred splitting Christianity into the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church which was used in the Byzantine Empire. But the important thing about the Byzantine Empire is that it prospered for another 1000 years after the fall of Rome.
Work can cause many issues with oneself and society. There can be a inner struggle in someone if they don’t like their job. Society can cause the discussion of jobs to become a controversial topic. In the poems “Lady In The Pink Mustang” by Louise Erdrich, “The Restaurant Business” by James Tate, and “So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs From Americans” by Jimmy Santiago Baca, the authors use divisions and conflicts to make readers see a bigger picture.
