For a while now I have wanted to go to college and get a degree in botany. I gained this interest by exploring the varieties of plant life and falling in love with what they have to offer people. Specifically the cannabis plant, commonly known as marijuana, this plant has many benefits that have already been discovered. The medical aspects of marijuana have shown to treat many disorders and health issues including cancer.
In order to progress to this goal I will first need to graduate high school earning my diploma. From there I will attend a community college, like Blinn College, for two years where I would take my basic courses needed by all college graduates. It will be more cost effective for me to do so and will help me adjust to college courses

Once, I’ve completed those I will need to transfer to a four year university, like Texas A&M. At this University I will obtain a degree in biology by taking classes in chemistry, biology, and psychology. I will have the chance to take my elective courses in botany areas where I can learn more about plants and their behavior.
After I finish all my education I will begin to apply my knowledge in the field. From what I have heard, as well as what I’ve seen, having a degree in botany can ensure a promising career at a dispensary or as a grower. In Colorado, the first day marijuana was legalized, 37 different dispensaries opened and made over one million dollars with a 29 percent tax rate on all of the sales, the profits all going to the state government. Marijuana would make Texas's economy and its Gross State Product one the first largest in the nation if it legalized marijuana.
