How would Ed’s blood help protect him from a foreign invader such as the one now in his system?
A couple of days ago, I got the chance to interview one of my dad’s friends, Nate, about his experiences with interviews. Currently a Nurse Practitioner, he has had over ten different jobs in his lifetime, ranging from a managerial position at KFC to an emergency room nurse. Just like his past jobs, the types of interviews that he has been in have been wildly different. He has even conducted a few interviews himself. Soon I will be participating in important, career-defining, interviews and it is important that I understand the ropes of an interview. I asked him only a couple of questions, but I got detailed answers and invaluable insights from the mind of both a successful interviewee and
For this assignment I was able to interview Regina Bowman RN, BSN. Her current position is that of the Director of Medical Surgical Nursing. Our healthcare system is ever evolving, remarkably changing the sphere of nursing practice. The roles of Advanced Nurse Practice practitioners are expanding, taking up a multitude of roles across a diversified healthcare specialties. Advance Nurse Practice practitioner stands as leader in this comprehensive profession bridging the gap in management and clinical aspect of care (McDermott & Morant, 2010), reflecting the complexity of culture, organization and practice setting (Hyrkas & Dende,2008) to improve the quality of patient care. This paper is about the interview with a Certified Nurse Practitioner. The Certified Nurse Practitioner interviewed is from the Hematology/Oncology Department in one of the university affiliated hospitals in Chicago. The purpose of the interview is to learn about the competencies needed to successfully perform the various roles of a Certified Nurse Practitioner in this complex health system. The rationale of the interview process is to give an opportunity as a graduate student to “assimilate primary care competencies into specialty nurse practitioner practice that exemplify professional value, scholarship, service, and culturally global awareness” (Chamberlain College of Nursing, 2014) that can be advantageous for my professional development. The interview showed the importance of knowledge of competencies appropriately applied in practice essential in the functions and roles of a Certified Nurse Practitioner within the scope of practice for
The knowledge of and experience of and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) can be of value when examining core competencies. This paper will discuss the nine core competencies stated by The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF). To gain a more complete understanding of how the core competencies integrate into practice an interview of an APRN was conducted. Additionally, an analysis of selected NONPF core competencies will be discussed and how they apply to the roles of the APRN. The paper will end with a conclusion of key points and benefits from interviewing an APRN.
Cannabis otherwise known as marihuana is a plant that has been on the earth for millions of years. History examines its use in many old traditional practices of medicine. However, over the last century society has placed a stigma on those who use marihuana for recreational use. This stigma is associated with criminal and deviant behaviour. As marihuana becomes further researched, the normalcy of the drug has become more popular within the medical community. Although marihuana is being used for medicinal purposes the stigma still exists due to the legal status of this drug. To understand the current state of marihuana, this paper will examine an understanding of what cannabis (marihuana) is, the history behind it, the usage and societal attitudes towards
Continuous and life-long learning- Unlike other professions in healthcare field one has to keep in pace with the updates going on, know the new technology,
We had interview on November 3, 2015 as per instruction provided by our respected interview we had our immigration medical exam on November 16, 2015. The panel physician communicated that everyone’s medical results in my family are fine but my mother Samin needs to go for further checkups and treatment. She is still under treatment and the panel physician communicated on June 23, 2016 that her treatment will be continued as end of August 2016 and laboratory test results will come at end of October 2016.
For my interview, I spoke with one of the Nurse Practitioners (NP) that I interact with while working my shift at the hospital. I will call her Terri Smith because although I asked to use her quotes in my paper, I did not think to ask for permission to use her actual name. Where I work, many of our internal medicine physicians are hospitalists. During the night, they are covered by the umbrella of Quest Care. There are several NPs that work under the afore mentioned physicians and are there, on-call, when needed for their clinical expertise. It is nice, because even though I can’t develop much of a relationship with the doctors whose patients I work so hard to take care of, I get to have the opportunity to grow strong bonds with the NPs that I see almost every shift.
It all started with three finds on June 26th, 1897: a blood stained duck pond, a floating human torso, and freshly detached limbs all in New York. Newspapers were in a frenzy to grab the most readers from this sensational story. However, while the papers were printing, the police still had to piece together this murder, which was dubbed the ‘Murder of the Century’. Joseph Pulitzer, the owner of New York World magazine, and William Randolph Hearst, owner of The New York Journal, competed day and night to acquire the most readers from yellow journalism. The newspapers took the story and ran with it, over exaggerating every little detail about the murder, such as cannibalism. In this story, readers follow Detective Carey, writer Ned Brown, Captain O’Brian, Hearst, and Pulitzer while they compete to solve this mystery. After a loss of hope, the police catch a break and identify the body as William Guldensuppe.
Grace Pettigrew, my mother who is 67 years old received a $1,101.00 pension check once a month with no other income or assistance from the governments’ states that she is unable to afford health care insurance and that she over qualify for government assistance. The Medicare plan is expensive and would leave Grace short on bills or food. Therefore, my mother rely she said on community based services at a hospital in Georgia name Grady Memorial Hospital Grace (2012). The reduce plan for the hospital card is based on her income and charges he $20.00 for office visits with no deductibles to meet and three dollars for her medication. Grace (2012) describe her experience with health care services and providers as being good and because this is all she can afford that there are no complaints except for she would like to go to doctors of her choice. Unfortunately, this is not an advantage because no other doctors are willing to take on patients who do not have insurance coverage. Grace (2012) states that she has never seen so many medical offices and that there are hospitals in every neighborhood. My mother is not sure how these facilities make their money where there are so many people without jobs or insurance. According to my mom Grace (2012), People would have to call and maybe wait days for a doctor to make it to your home if there were an emergency but not
For this assignment I was fortunate enough to interview my uncle who’s a nuclear medicine Technologist BSN. He graduated in 2008. He has working in the hospital for over 6 years now and over the years he has gain an insurmountable amount of experience. Along with that came increase of pay. While interviewed him he elaborated on how they use medical imaging as radioactive isotopes, which relies on the process of radioactive decay to treat a diagnosis of disease, a patient might be having. He seems very excited and enthusiastic working in this field while dealing with patients and also treating their source of illness. He tells me each time that his main goal in life was to be able to provide sustainable, substantial and affordable care
When the patient first came in I think I did quite well as I welcomed
For the assignment, I interview a pharmacy profession who works in Purdue Student Health Center as a clinical assc professor in pharm practice. This interview took place at her office in push in the afternoon of November 3rd. As being a student in the pharmacy college, I think it will be a good idea to interview a pharmacy profession to understand more information about it and gain some useful advice. Before meeting the professor, I try to get familiar with the questions and have a short talk with the professor allowing us to know more about each other.
