As a brief description of the subject in the study, the life cycle of logistics can also be maximized through establishing effective management organizing efforts to maintain a certain company’s operational structure that will avoid or prevent errors and mismanagement that can take place within the corporation. In this case, the 360 degree logistics can be found when there will be a capital expenditure that will be carried out to fund materials and human resources that will be helping to manufacture product. As soon as the product will be made and distributed to the market, there will be an exchange of commodity

The number and timing of capital replacements of systems or products depend on the estimated life of the system, so replacement cost must be calculated in also. It is helpful for companies to use the same sources that provide cost estimates for initial investments to obtain estimates of replacement costs and expected useful lives (Blanchard, 2004). Without logistics planning, the company will not be able to identify potential resource markets that will be significant to boost their competitiveness as well as their productivity in creating better financial performances. Logistics is important for the reason that it helps the company to fulfill all kinds of goals and without this factor will affect the company’s growth performance in a specific period for having a stagnant or negative flow of financial productivity. The absence of logistics planning halts the company’s ability to produce quality products, which will result for having health threats for users and will not be safe to use in the market according to Berman (2011). The standards of production performance without logistics planning will fail to reach goal standards for producing quality products by having defects that can cause potential accidents for users that will be acquiring the product. LCCAs are usually performed early in the design process when only estimates of costs and savings
The timing of capacity changes also needs to be taken into consideration to achieve maximum efficenty given that demands of their products varies with seasonal changes. The ability to react to market demand changes quickly will determine manufacturers flexibility in keeping up with these demands. Manufacturers needs facilities to produce, whether warehouses to store its raw materials or finished goods, or manufacturing plants to produce their products. Services facilities are needed by certain manufacturing industries such as consumer electronics to cater for returns. Distribution centres also determine the efficenty of production distribution and un-nesessary inventory holding will result in higher holding cost. Such facilities require large investments and are integral of the manufacturer’s supply chain strategy and thus proper planning is needed when making these decisions regardong the size, location which affect the overall operations. How manufacturers run their productions also determine how successful will they be in terms of productivity and quality levels. Different types of equipment and processes also affect the cost and output of the manufacturing plant. Information systems that flow both upstream and downstream affects the forecasting, planning, inventory and production levels, they must be robust to ensure the manufacturing firm is able to react accordingly to changing demands and variations. In addition to their internal environment,
The network design process is used to formulate decisions concerning various aspects of logistics networks (Croxton & Zinn, 2005). Efficient logistics networks are essential for transporting people and goods in the 21st century. In this regard, Katsioloudis (2009) advises that, "Transportation networks facilitate the movements of goods and people to markets and are essential for the prosperity of a society and the competitiveness of an economy" (p. 7). Designing a logistics network in general is a major component of successful material handling. For instance, according to Cheong, Bhatnagar and Graves (2007), "Designing a logistics network that maximizes the utilization of the transport and warehouse capacity in
1. How can Design for logistic concepts be used to control logistic cost and make the supply chain more efficient?
The variability of logistics performance is quite relevant. ALP has not been able to guarantee a reliable service to its customers in the last years. There seems to be a lack of organization when providing the service to the customers, in the sense of establishing priorities and
SCM can be divided into three main groups: purchase, manufacture, and transport (Thomas et al., 1996). The focus is on transportation. There are different modes of transportation. These modes of transportation fall under three basic types and they are: land (road, rail and pipelines), water (shipping) and air. Transportation plays a connective role among the several steps that result in the conversion of resources into useful goods for the ultimate consumer. It is the planning of all these functions and sub-functions into a system of goods movement in order to minimize cost and maximize service to the customers that constitutes the concept of business logistics. The system, once it’s put in place, must be effectively managed (Fair & Williams, 1981). What are the advantages and disadvantages of these modes of transportation in logistics?
By submitting this piece of assessment the group confirms that all the work is thoroughly and adequately acknowledge and referenced, and has been completed in accordance with the
NOKIA is already a strong, international and successful company. It has its own set modes in organization and management. In the study, the case department is presented as example of internal logistics process for
Based on sustainable development of green logistics in China and the countermeasures (2007), China is especially vulnerable to climate change due to its complex climatic conditions, a fragile ecological environment, a massive population and frequent natural disasters. Insufficient per ca-pita resources and very sharp contradictions between development and environment force China to further develop a cycling economy. Green logistics is an important tool for sustainable development.
The current paper is an extensive operation plan for Fast-Movers Logistics, a fast growing company offering courier services across the major cities of the United States. Fast-Movers Logistics has been in business for a significant period of time. Now and it seek to develop an operation plan so as to attain a better strategic position and competitive advantage in its market. The operation plan is aimed at helping the company design a proper structure in the way it accomplishes its tasks. Apparently, the operation plan will lay out the activities that need to be completed, the skills required to complete specific tasks, the number of people required in reaching the goals and the costs associated with the achievement of the desirable results. Therefore, the operation plan will serve the purpose of cutting down on the expenses of Fast-Movers Logistics with the aim to help the company attain higher productivity and profitability levels.

The decisions that will be made will affect both the company’s present and its future as well (at least the following three to five years) (Balakrishnan, 2013). With that said I would do everything in my power to build a team which would consist of sales, marketing, operations, manufacturing, warehousing and a team member from higher management to ensure we meet goals the company as a whole will benefit from. Having all key employees involved is necessary to ensure the success of the network we are building. I would reorganize the logistics network to reduce several costs, production, purchasing, facilities, inventory holding, and transportation. I would attempt this by utilizing a centralized warehouse/complex. Were all phases of the logistical process can be on the same page.
Distribution costs and time is also another factor that the economy plays part it. Because of the requirements of modern distribution, the issue of time is becoming increasingly important in the management of commodity chains. Time is a major issue for freight shipping as it imposes inventory holding and depreciation costs, which becomes sensitive for tightly integrated supply chains (Dr. Jean-Paul Rodrique and Dr. Markus Hesse, “Logistics and Freight Distribution,” 12/30/2007, http://people.hofstra.edu/geotrans/eng/ch5en/conc5en/cn5c4en.html, accessed on April 15, 2008).
Logistics and supply chain management is the process of making sure materials are collected, tuned into products and then distributed so that they can reach the user. Logistics is the full process of the gap between the materials being raw and collected to the delivery of the finished product in the users hands. “As such logistics includes;
Logistics is the organization of the flood of things between the reason for starting and the motivation behind use with a particular finished objective to meet necessities of customers or associations. The advantages administered in logistics can fuse physical things, for instance, sustenance, materials, animals, equipment and liquids, and moreover extraordinary things, for instance, manage time, information, transport unit Pricing and Quantity , particles, and essentialness. The logistics of physical things generally incorporates the joining of information stream, which ismaterial dealing with, creation, packaging, stock, transportation, warehousing, and every now and again security. The versatile nature of logistics can be illustrated, bankrupt down, envisioned, and redesigned by dedicated diversion programming. The minimization of the usage of benefits is a commonplace motivation in logistics for import and passage.
The supply of transportation gets its supply from individual firms known as chain managements who seek to coordinate the flow of materials, product, and information between supplies. The goal of the business is to find ways to save money in reducing the amount, the size in material, and no longer useful supply. Supply chain synchronization is one of the big firms within many firms in the challenge of supply chain management and Its duties is to integrate operations across multiple firms to facilitate logistical operations across multiple firms and so that participants would benefit from jointly planning and implementing logistical operations.
