I could successfully operate one of the four franchises without having experience owning a business because a franchise “is generally a proven business model … [and] reduces your risk” (Stricker, 2015, P. 74). Figure 5 demonstrates the four franchises’ market share, revenue, and net worth. Furthermore, I could successfully operate Massage Envy without experience, since Massage Envy has the highest market share and a net worth of $500,000. Although I have no experience in operating a business, “franchisors offer extensive hand-holding” that will allow me to succeed” (“Buying a Business off the Rack”, 2013). Moreover, “name recognition” will allow me to succeed and reduce my risk (Stricker, 2015, P. 74). Also, gaining knowledge by experience and from other franchisors will allow me to succeed. Moreover, Massage Envy will be the best franchise option, since Massage Envy has the highest market share and net worth. Massage Envy will also be the best franchise because I will be able to help others achieve a healthier lifestyle by getting rid of an individual "every day stresses, reduce muscle pain, help alleviate the discomfort of certain ailments or just help restore balance to [an individual's] body and mind" ("New to Massage", 2016, Para. 2). Particularly, I seek to do the following in the upcoming year: 1. Attend a meeting with Massage Envy franchisor. A meeting with Massage Envy franchisor will help me understand the support the franchisor offers. The meeting will also assist me to gather necessary documents to set up the Massage Envy franchise. 2. Speak with other franchisees. Other franchisees will provide information of the franchisor's support and expectations of Massage Envy. Speaking with other franchisees will also assist me to learn from their mistake and increase my chances of being

Franchisors are increasingly having to be more and more selective in the adoption of franchisees with factors such as economic climate and the potential difficulty with growth playing key factors in the decision making process. It is not simply an ability to grow which creates a successful Franchise and nor is it the desire of any franchisor to adopt every potential franchisee. Franchisors are becoming more and more scrutinising as the global economy declines. There is a general understanding within any franchised

If you are not already a member of AMTA or any national massage membership organization, you may want to take a look at Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP). McDonald’s has extremely strict rules when it comes to awarding franchises. First, it is very costly to open a new location or purchase an existing location, with the median startup cost being $300,000 (Kalnins & Lafontaine, 2004, p. 750). As well, the company does an extensive background check on a variety of issues including credit history, business management experience, and the acceptance of the contractual agreement that the company provides. Because of these strict rules and the large amount of capital needed to purchase a location, “rates for franchise applicants are 1% for McDonald's” (Norton, 1988, p. 204). This is an extremely low acceptance rate and is even lower than McDonald’s chief competitor, Burger King, who accepts 1.5% percent of applicants (Norton, 1988, p. 199). These low numbers are understandable in the context of the business and risk that is involved. Though the franchise purchaser must pay a large amount of money to gain the rights to the restaurant, they truly have nothing to lose besides money because they are simply running another company’s business model as well as using their trademarks and logos. McDonald’s on the other hand, has a great amount at stake because they place the well being of an entire restaurant into the caretaking of an individual who simply purchased the rights for the store. If the store does poorly or if there are issues with customer service, it reflects

Throughout the study of massage therapy, the terms health and wellness are brought up consistently. The study of one’s health deals with the physical well-being and illness’ of an individual. Whereas wellness, deals with one’s mental well-being and how an individual personally, feels about themselves.

· There are many hospitals, beauty parlors and clinics that claim to give quality massages’ nowadays. However not all of these claims are real true.
We had four age groups in the surveys made by my group; 12-19, 20-29, 30-40, and 40 and above. The main thing I wanted to pull from our surveys was how different the age groups perceived massage, but also how gender had an effect. Much to my surprise it really differed, most people had completely different feelings and understandings about massage within the ages of 12-29 and the ages of 30 and up. The ages had differences in opinion on certain things such as card payments, online versus calling to book and music options, but less on things like services offered, diligence, regular appointments and previous massages. This just shows that you have to be able to appeal to all ages, it is important to stay on top of technology to keep up with the millennials who will only use modern devices.
(Credibility) I currently work as a manager of a massage spa. I also have experience with the use of massage therapy to improve pain and ailments.
