Mary Brown Prayer Interview and Reflection
This was a very good interview, and the person I interview was very seasoned in prayer. Here are some of the things we spoke about in the interview, and here are my reflections and thoughts.
Private devotions
In private devotions is it Biblical or more effectual to pray aloud than to pray silently? My interviewee stated that it is good to pray aloud and saliently at times. Sometimes praying aloud keeps your mind from wondering and you can focus on what you are praying about. And sometimes it is good to be quite so you can hear God speak. There is an example in the Bible about praying silently. “Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk” (1

Cooperate prayer brings unity and togetherness; it shows a cooperative force to our enemy the accuser of the brethren. The Lord has told us to watch and pray to be on guard for our enemy prowls about like a roaring loin seeking those whom he may devour. We are to be to be vigilant and on guard, fully awake, aware, alert and intently focused.
Seeking a sign I asked my interviewee this question, is it safe to ask for a sign in answer to prayer? So many people are seeking signs, but Matthew 16:4 (NIV) says, “A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah. We have to trust and believe that God will and does answer prayer.
Persistence/Being a watchman
God has told us to be persistent in prayer, to be a watchman on the wall. “Son of man, I have made you a watchman to the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me” (Ezekiel 3:17,
There is a word from the Lord! Let?s pray to God the Father of the Universe!!!
Night goes through the journey of Elie Wiesel, a Jewish prisoner, in concentration camps. In the concentration camps, Eliezer fights through the internal and external struggles along with his father. Some of the struggles they go through include the cruelty shown to them. In order to fully understand Elie’s pain, Wiesel uses literary devices such as similes. Night provides similes to further demonstrate compassion and cruelty throughout Elie’s time in concentration camps.
Prayer is an essential to any kind of religious faith. Over the years and years of believing in a higher power,
I had always felt that to pray there had to be some eloquent way to convey the things that you wanted to say to God. I also was often frustrated, as I questioned that if God was all knowing, why was it necessary to pray to him and tell him things he already knew. Throughout my time at NCYC I came to understand my relationship with God less like a human and omniscient being relationship, but more as a parent and child relationship. Though He may already know what you have to tell Him, it is about building the communication and the friendship, so that He can work best in your life. The best analogy that I have heard about this was from one of the leaders of the trip, and he compared life to being in a marching band. From the point of view of the musicians, it seems chaotic and as though people are going in every direction for no apparent reason; however, from up
I might not show it and express it at times but every time something goes good I thank god. When things aren’t going how I wanted them to I pray. I pray that God leads me through the best path. If things still don’t go how I expected then I always think to myself that it happened for a reason and then I accept it. In my family, my grandma is my biggest inspiration. She is the one who teaches me how to pray and why you should pray. One thing she explains to me often is that praying is not done only when you’re in need of something. You pray when you want to bless others, thank God and also to just have a conversation with him. Many times I have no clue what I am doing or like other times I just need someone to listen to me, so I talk to him. After I prayed or talked to him I always feel like everything will get better and to never lose hope. I am happy with my faith and who I go to when I am not in the best
Courage can be defined in different ways as shown by Anne Sexton’s “Courage” poem and Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird. Sexton would say courage comes in small acts and in these small acts of courage are what teaches people how to find the strength within themselves to accept things the way they are. Atticus Finch, one of the main characters in the novel, would argue that courage is perseverance and fighting till the end even though the battle may have already been lost. This novel takes place around the 1930s, and is told through the eyes of Scout Finch. From her, one might learn about her father, Atticus Finch, an attorney who hopelessly aims to prove the innocence of a black man wrongly accused of rape. Both definitions of courage can be found in three characters in the novel; Atticus’ determination to help Robinson, Scout’s ability to conceal her emotions, and Mrs. Dubose’s perseverance to fight till the end.
We also pray that God will watch over our people and make them feel comfortable with him and in him. God, we know that you are watching over us and that you will make sure we are safe in your care.
I believe Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) (2016) describes Intercessory prayer the best as “Intercession is prayer that pleads with God for your needs and the needs of others. But it is also much more than that. Intercession involves taking hold of God's will and refusing to let go until His will comes to pass” (para. 3). As a Christian, this day and time providing intercessory of prayer for your needs or needs of others can be a battle. It is truly a spiritual battle that takes place in our own lives and the lives of others. So many time I personally, get caught up in the events of the day or the worries of the day and I fail to truly apply myself and pray with my whole heart and soul. My prayers all too often seem to be routine daily
According to Thomas Keating, “Contemplative prayer is a conversation initiated by God and leading, if we consent to a divine union. It is the way to pure faith.” Unlike with vocal prayers, in which we call out to God asking for things we need, with contemplative prayer our role is to allow God to be God. In other words, God directs Contemplative prayer, His grace opens our hearts and minds to the His presence inside us. Consequently, contemplative prayer begins with a centering prayer, which is a silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer. Keating noted that, “Centering prayer is an effort to renew the teaching of the Christian tradition of contemplative prayer.” Similar to other methods of prayer, the foundation of centering prayer is the Triune God. Keating noted that, “The practice is based on the wisdom saying of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount.” The scripture reads, “But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you” (Matt. 6:6). Practicing contemplative prayer will strengthen our spiritual commitment and enrich our personal lives. I will discuss the origin, methods and benefits of contemplative prayer.
(Soren Kierkegaard) Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known of God. (Philippians 4:6 ESV) And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. (Matthew 6:5-8
There maybe a few testimonies of how the people have changed by letting God into their lives. Look around the room and see a young girl sitting with her knees up next to her chest while she is listening to the testimonies. After the testimonies there may be some people who wish to be prayed over. Reepa and Boyd will be happy to comply with the people's wishes.
R During the interview I was glad to learn about the new age movement because she has been talking about it for sometimes and even wanted to do reiki for me when I had surgery 3 years ago. I found out that her spirituality was very different from mine although she believe that Jesus was a great teacher. I wanted to know what her belief was. The interview with her gives me an understanding of what she was talking about. The knowledge I acquired from her is very good because it can be tricky and misleading to the people who really want to serve God with all their hearts.
When the pastor was saying his speech he Prayed god to show the class guidance but then he turned and said he sends hid prayer out for one specific student and for him to guide her in the right path that god has for her.

Selfishness. A personality trait that only bad people have. Incorrect. Selfishness is part of the nature of every living human being. Despite what all humans may believe selfishness is a part of all of us and is the driving force behind everything we do. In order to survive humans must be selfish and think of their own needs above other peoples. We must be selfish to our surrounding environment by using the resources essential to humans that our environment bears. Strangely enough it is often considered an insult to be called selfish.
