Just because you are a person who is faithful to Jesus and be obedient to the truth of His Scriptures does not mean you are a heretic. St. Thomas Aquinas defines heresy as a species of infidelity in men who, having professed the faith of Christ, corrupt its dogmas. St. Thomas means with this definition is that the rightful Christian faith dwells by being consent voluntary to Christ and to spread the truth believe of His teachings. The reason Martin Luther was called a heretic was because there was the idea that he wanted to split the Catholic Church. Even though, Pope Benedict XVI claims out that Martin Luther was not a heretic because he never intended to split the Catholic Church. He had ideals that, at the time, were extremely radical. He did not believe that the people of the church had any right to control the population at large. Martin Luther's contribution to the Church could easily be dismissed because he is well known as anti-Semitic. In truth, he was, as most people are, more complicated than this. Luther is a wonderful example of the Grace of God using imperfect people. Luther is history's best proponent of justification by grace, yet some of his views did not always reflect God's love. God has not changed, He still chooses the average person to advance His kingdom. And why shouldn't He, we are all He's got!
