Introduction
In every organisation, marketing is of great importance large organisations use marketing principles to meet the needs of their customers and achieve their objectives.

I will be identifying the broad aims and objectives and how marketing techniques are used to market products in Transport for London’s, a public sector organisation and Iceland, a private sector organisation. Firstly, we will look at the aims and objectives of organisations in different sectors.

Private sector organisations operate with the aim of creating the most profit possible. They are competitive and aim to excel over similar organisations. Private organisations are often run by individual entrepreneurs or families.

The private sector is comprised of companies run by individuals for a profit; some examples of this are sole traders- exclusive owners of a business, a limited company, a partnership or a public limited company. The public sector is where all of the government run services fall into, like the NHS or policing services. The voluntary sector are non-profit, non-governmental charities that benefit the public, examples of this are charities such as the NSPCC and Age Concern.
Marketing is the function that connects businesses to their target audiences’ needs. It is how a business presents and distributes their product to their audience. For example, a business can market their product by advertising it to the public. This can be seen in many forms of media; such as: on television, via web, posters or on billboards.
In Understanding and Managing Public organizations, Hal G. Rainey states, “Blurring of the sectors” (Rainey,2014, pg. 57). Rainey basically says that private, public and nonprofit organizations are interweaved. Many public agencies are similar to private agencies. Private, public organizations provide services and goods within the United States and around the world. These agencies are mostly owned and operated by the government or public sector. These public sectors or government agencies provide loans to college students, people who want to buy a home, and farmers who own farms and banks. Private organization: The private organization is made by the citizens who are not confidentially spoken for contained within the government for generating profits for their personal. The businesses are privately own by some of or one citizens and after operating these businesses are known as a small business. As like Ledbury, it is one kind of private business or organization because of owning it privately and activities for making profits. These types of organization are carrying out the payments for employees.
Marketing is perhaps the most important activity in a business because it forms the communication bond between the customers and the company, and it’s a key aspect of communicating the value of the product.
Private Sector Organizations: Private Sector Organizations operated and owned by the private individual instead of government and usually aimed to make profit for its shareholders. Around the world the most business activities are in private sectors. Some of the well – known private sectors organizations are: Coca-Cola, Google, and Amazon.
The public sector is the part of government. The composition of the public sector varies by country, but in most countries the public sector includes such services as the military, police, infrastructure (public roads, bridges, tunnels, water supply, sewers, electrical grids, telecommunications. The public sector might provide services that a non-payer cannot be excluded from (such as street lighting), services which benefit all of society rather than just the individual who uses the service. The Marketing Concept The marketing concept has evolved over the last years, marketing reflects to a key approach to doing business. An organisations objective is to make profit, to do this they have to consider the marketing concept, in order to satisfy customers. For an organisation to be successful should divert its attention away from particular products and towards the interest of the customers. Customers changing their needs and wants influence an organisations strategies and plans. Meeting customer’s needs is the main key in marketing.
The most basic distinction between public and private organizations is that the political community own public agencies whereas ownership of private organizations belongs to entrepreneurs or shareholders.
