In the book Foxcatcher, I could not help comparing Mark Schulz and me in terms of wrestling. I was a pretty good wrestler, but Mark Schultz became one of the best wrestlers of all time. He started his career later than me, he took losses harder than me, and he wrestled a different style compared to me. Mark Schultz’s progression through the sport was much faster than mine. Starting off his wrestling career as a junior in high school, made it hard for Mark to become a successful wrestler in high school . Although he started late, he had a very good coach named Tim Brown and had a good wrestling team with many future college wrestlers on it. “My coach was Tim Brown, a heavyweight wrestler and football coach.” (Mark Schultz) Because his high school team was very good, he was able to go to a college for wrestling. He was a very Hands-on and an aggressive type of wrestler, he used his amazing strength and quickness on his feet to defeat his opponents. Usually, Mark did blast doubles (a football tackle) or big throws, both of which require a tremendous amount of strength to do on a professional wrestler. Mark was not very good on the top or bottom positions, (one man took the other to the mat, then the other covers him attempting to score more points by taking him to his back.) but he was good enough to get back on his feet and devastate his opponents with takedowns. (One person puts someone on their butt, knees, stomach, or back under control) I hardly ever shot in on an opponent, instead, I would wait for them to shoot in and get a defensive takedown in order to get them onto the matt. Top and bottom is where I excelled. This did not go well for me because when I faced people who wrestled as Mark Schultz had I am easily defeated. So overall his style of wrestling was much better than mine because he could get into the heads of his opponents, and physically beat them
