In the "kids for cash" scandal I believe the kids and the parents were the one's hurt with Ciavarella's unethical actions and decisions. Even though Ciavarerlla, Conahan, Mericle, and Powell paid the price and were guilty for various charges, the time lost while in juvenile cannot be returned to the children. They wasted their childhood and adolescent years in jail, away from friends and family. Some even developed post-traumatic stress from the events. No child should suffer because of adults greed for money. What had happened in the "kids for cash" scandal was that Judge Mark Ciavarella and Judge Michael Conahan had received a finder fee from Robert Powell. It was seen as a bribe, however, because Ciavarella did not report it in his tax
The Bell California trial was a corruption scandal that cost the small community of Bell California millions of dollars (Freeman, 2012). Robert Rizzo was the city manager of Bell. During his tenure, he along with several other city officials managed to increase their salaries and retirement pensions without the residence of Bell knowing it. Some of the amounts in increase far surpassed the head of the Los Angeles Police Departments salary. The salary and pension increases were done by illegal tax increases as well as other means that the taxpayers were unaware of (McGrath, 2013). Some of the monies were acquired by shaking down businesses for extra fees or threatened with their businesses being closed for failure to pay. The small community
Sports broadcasting has come a long way from what it was during Cosell’s time. While the future was bright for Howard Cosell, there were other sportscasters that need to be recognized including those with similar practices than Cosell. Though Cosell was mainly known for his interviews with the late, great Mohammed Ali, he wasn’t the first broadcaster to focus on prize fighters.
Ciavarella left Scranton’s Federal District Courthouse with a 28-year federal prison sentence for his part in the infamous “Kids for Cash” scandal in which, along with co-defendant and fellow former-judge Michael Conahan, he had accepted millions of dollars from juvenile detention facilities in exchange for sentencing children to time in their programs (Associated Press). In one case, Ciavarella sentenced a fourteen year old boy who took loose change from unlocked cars in his neighborhood to nine months at a boarding school that had paid him kickbacks (Chen). In another case, he sentenced a fifteen year old girl to an outdoor disciplinary camp for insulting her school principal on Myspace, where she remained until the Juvenile Law Center intervened on her behalf (Associated Press).

Groups like, American Jail Association and the American Civil Liberties Association have tried really hard to keep children out of adult prisons. Placing juveniles in adult prisons will save money but it was increase the number crime in the future once those kids get back on the streets.
Juveniles need to be held accountable for their crimes, however, they should not be sent to life in prison. With an increasingly growing amount minors being trialed as adults for heinous crimes, people would ask “why would they commit it?” The answer lies within each juvenile's background, mental health, age, immaturity, and morality. Therefore, it is my belief that juveniles should not be trialed as an adult. Juveniles such as Manny, Shawn, Marquese, and José interviewed in PBS’ “Frontline” were involved in gangs, familial neglect and abuse, or drugging.
There are many cases that kids receive a penalty tot harsh. Kids should not have their whole life taken away because of one bad mistake. They have potential to accomplish many things in life, but the courts took that away from many kids. The courts should go less harsh on kids as they often are not aware of the mistake they did.
No, judges are not the only ones who should be held responsible for this scheme. The privately owned youth detention center owners who paid the judges to send juveniles to their facilities should be held accountable for their actions. Also, others who knew about the situation but never came forward to tell the truth, should feel some type of guilt.
Kids should not be tried as adults because of the skyrocketing cost it takes to imprison these adolescents. In “The Costs of Confinement: Why Good Juvenile Justice Policies Make Good Fiscal Sense” by the

When Chantale questioned the company, this action was noble and ethical. When she considering her company and concern her college’s job, it was touched. When she still had faith on management, she was kind and smart. In front of this lady, we can get feeling of confused and helpless. As a good citizen, she cared about public safety and knew there would be a debate come in sparky. From the first minute it was hot as a pistol.
Regardless, did you ever hear the crying from the relatives and partners of losses? In case the juvenile wrongdoers don't have the benefit of opportunity, the all-inclusive communities who are butchered by these convicts even don't have the benefit to life! The fault as genuine as
