Marching Band Remembering

The Quotes I have chosen that speaks out to me the most is by Ronnie Lott and Jerry Rice. “If you can believe it the mind can achieve it” ~ Ronnie Lott. “Today I will do what others won't,so tomorrow I can accomplish what others can't”~ Jerry Rice. The Reason I picked these two quotes was because both quotes inspire me to do good put in hard work and not to give up till the job is done. The way it applies to me is it helps to show me that if you want something you need to go and get it done yourself with hard work, determination,Grit, and Perseverance. The quote by Ronnie Lott meaning of it to me is anything you want to happen it can happen the right mindset you can accomplish anything you set your mind to whether it be to win a state championship

This quote is found in first part of the book in chapter two. I chose this quote because this relates to me, if I put effort and hard work I can do. Just like if Pi he did not any put effort he would have not become a good swimmer but he did same with me even if it is towards my academics or extracurricular, you still have put the same time and effort no matter what you are doing you can accomplish with right mindset. Also, I know that it is hard work but in the end you will be glad that you put effort and time. When I compete for anything I want to give 100% whatever I am doing.

As Newt Gingrich once said, “Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of the hard work you already did.” This quote applies greatly to marching band. Many people like to discredit it as something that is simply “walking around and playing an instrument,” but it is much more than that. We didn’t win championships across the east coast twice by doing something just anyone can do. No one perseveres quite like the band.

It began during my 8th grade year, I started to play in the marching band for the football games and parades. Percussion was my cup of tea because I know that I could nail it by reading and memorizing the music more often. It took me days to memorize my music for the half-time performances, especially for the parades. Meanwhile at the football field for the first time ever, I begin to think that maybe it did not turn out to be bad after all. I started playing the marching baritone my freshman year of high school and it has been the symbol for a lot of the change that has happened since. I’d played the trombone all through middle school and switching to the baritone meant I almost had to relearn a new instrument. It was heavy, awkward, and I was the only girl who played it, so I almost felt like I wanted to prove myself in a way. The University of Wisconsin Marching Band plays a big part in the excitement of Badger athletics. However, there are many important parts that make up the success of the UW- Madison Marching Band. Just because band members are A & B students and very good at their instrument dose not mean we are nerds. Marching band is the biggest student run organization at Miramar high school. Most important of all marching band gave me more confidence. Before I joined marching band, I wouldn’t utter a single word to someone I didn’t previously know. Being in marching band, I was surround by people I didn’t know. It was very scary to me at first, but I learned to become more confident and overcome it. There were times when I had to do something on my own and it was hard for me, but it gave me a challenge that pushed me to become more extroverted. Now I meet new people in the band and I confidently talk to them without worry.
