The mandala has been around for thousands of years, being used from 12th century nuns, Asian taoists, to ancient Aztecs. It has been around longer than most things. The mandala appears in all aspects of life: the celesial circles we call earth, sun, and moon, as well as conceptual cicrles of friends, family, and community ("What is a Mandala?" 1) . Mandalas are everywhere, we just don't recognize them. From our solar system to budding flowers around us, we never seem to take in the vastness of mandalas. The particular design I chose to color stood our from the rest of the mandalas to chose from because of its simplicity. The design of the mandala itself is plain and simple just like myself. I didn't chose it because it represented something spirtually or religious, I chose it because it signified myself in wholeness. In ancient Tibet, as part of a spiritual practice, monks created intricate mandalas with colored sand made of crushed semiprecious stones. ("What is a Mandala?" 2). Instead of it representing complexity, I wanted a easy design. The design of the jagged edges represents the toughness in myself. It shows that I'm a little rough on the edges and can stand up for myself. Within the middle the flower like middle shows that I am sweet and caring. I tend to say my thoughts and feelings when the time comes. I'm also known to have a bad temper from time to time, this characteristic is represented in my mandala by the red blotches near the outside. The red blotches are tiny which means that my temper is only a small portion of myself and doesn't take my whole self. I can also say that I am joyful from time to time, which is represented in my mandala by pink frilly stretching out almost to the edge of my mandala. I also can be mean or rude from time to time, the black jagged edges of my mandala signifies
