The mandala has been around for thousands of years, being used from 12th century nuns, Asian taoists, to ancient Aztecs. It has been around longer than most things. The mandala appears in all aspects of life: the celesial circles we call earth, sun, and moon, as well as conceptual cicrles of friends, family, and community ("What is a Mandala?" 1) . Mandalas are everywhere, we just don't recognize them. From our solar system to budding flowers around us, we never seem to take in the vastness of mandalas. The particular design I chose to color stood our from the rest of the mandalas to chose from because of its simplicity. The design of the mandala itself is plain and simple just like myself. I didn't chose it because it represented something spirtually or religious, I chose it because it signified myself in wholeness. In ancient Tibet, as part of a spiritual practice, monks created intricate mandalas with colored sand made of crushed semiprecious stones. ("What is a Mandala?" 2). Instead of it representing complexity, I wanted a easy design. The design of the jagged edges represents the toughness in myself. It shows that I'm a little rough on the edges and can stand up for myself. Within the middle the flower like middle shows that I am sweet and caring. I tend to say my thoughts and feelings when the time comes. I'm also known to have a bad temper from time to time, this characteristic is represented in my mandala by the red blotches near the outside. The red blotches are tiny which means that my temper is only a small portion of myself and doesn't take my whole self. I can also say that I am joyful from time to time, which is represented in my mandala by pink frilly stretching out almost to the edge of my mandala. I also can be mean or rude from time to time, the black jagged edges of my mandala signifies

The Sunjata is named after the originator of the thirteenth-century Mali Empire. The heroic story relates the adventures and the life of Sunjata (otherwise called Sundiata or Son-Jara) from his youth when, as a result of a curse, he could not walk only crawl, to his banishment with his family, and lastly to his turning into the triumphant King of the Mandinka and extending his empire. There are numerous variations to the Sunjata epic, yet the essence of the story continues to stay the same throughout all stories. Sunjata is the child of the King of the Mandinka, Maghan Kung Fatta, and one of his spouses, Sukulung, an agnostic with a supernatural mind. Sunjata's ultimate rival is his older half brother, Dankaran Tuma. Dankaran Tuma's mother puts a curse on Sunjata that leaves him unable walk; he has no choice but to crawl on all fours until his adolescence, and it was at this time his mother provided him with a staff made from a sacred tree and orders him to rise. Upon the passing of the King, Dankaran Tuma rules for a small amount of time before the sorcerer Sumanguru usurps the throne of Mali. Sumanguru is cautioned by soothsayers, in any case, that Sunjata is bound to wind up ruler. To

She is the type of leader to make mistakes and own up to them so others will not follow in her same footsteps.
Gautama is the founder of the religion Buddhism that originated in India. A Buddhist, follower of Buddhism, spends their whole life trying to escape samsara and reach nirvana. The journey to nirvana for a Buddhist can only be achieved by them self. The book Siddhartha is about a boy that goes on a journey to become enlightened. The boy, Siddhartha, has to overcome a lot before he settles back at the river he once crossed and finds nirvana.
Like many Bildungsromans, Siddhartha is separated into stages, with a single event signalling the end of one stage and the start of the next. The most significant of these events is easily Siddhartha's attempted suicide.

In the 1500’s in Peru, there was a king named Huayna (Wayna) Capac, the third Sapa Inca ruler, the sixth of the Hanan dynasty, and the eleventh ruler of the Inca civilization. He appointed on of his sons to rule after he died, but as Huayna died of small pox in 1528, so did his elected son, Ninan Cuyuchi. Due to this sudden lack of leadership two of his other sons jumped into action to claim the throne. One, the favored son, Atahualpa ruled in the north, and his older half brother, Huascar, ruled in the south until it came to a full on civil war that lasted six years. In the end Atahualpa won the war and killed his half brother, his family, historians, and destroyed the Incan Quipu records. This was all done to create a sense of total renewal, and was called Pachakuti (turning over of time and space).

Response Journal Entry: 1 -Connections: As the story begins in Hiroshima and introduces the characters the people that are living there are not as worried by the alarms and urgent warnings do to false occurrences. This has connection towards me because I would react by evacuating to a shelter because there is no way of telling whether or not it would be a false alarm. But in contrast the Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura ignores the warning due to the events that occur during this time being so frequent. -Authors use of Figurative Language: “Its front hall looked like a cave full of fat cushions.” This a simile through the comparison, the hall is compared to a cave.
