Makeup During The Elizabethan Era

People have contributed to the physical and cultural view of beauty in societies all around the world. Each country has different beauty standards that reflect off of each other to display diversity: “Beauty is informed by values, culture, religion, background and societal influence. Concepts of beauty has change over time depending on environment, culture, etc”. Through the different standards of other cultures, societies are able to learn that there is not only one form of beauty. The evolution of beauty around the world allows people to compare opinions with another to form individual perspectives of beauty.

Ever wonder where the strange fashion choices of society’s favorite Disney movies originated? It might be a bit of an understatement to say that the apparel of men during the Elizabethan Era was odd, but each piece of their outfit had a crucial role to play in their daily life. Clothing worn during the Elizabethan Era was greatly dictated by the Sumptuary Laws, the wealth of the individual, and fashion trend of neighboring countries.

People everywhere find self-expression through what they wear. Many people today are judged by what they wear. Although one doesn’t want it to, clothing can place you in a certain group or social class. Even 457 years ago, when the Elizabethan Era was recognized by its profound range of fashion, clothing showed wealth, inheritance, and social class. People today are allowed to wear what they desire, but during the Elizabethan Era many women were restricted from many fabrics or materials, colors, and patterns.

The Egyptians are thought to be the first civilization to wear makeup. Egyptian makeup was used for various reasons, including to denote social status and simply to improve the appearance. A substance called unguent was applied to the skin as a moisturizer to protect it from the elements and discourage wrinkles. Sometimes the unguent was scented. Various oils were also used to improve the skin. Both men and women used cosmetics in ancient Egypt, with the most common look being a white face with rimmed eyes and red lips.

Women's clothing in the Elizabethan era clothing would have included large-scale information regarding all of the elements they would have worn with their fashion or clothes in the Elizabethan era. These would have ranged from the clothes regarding the upper class fashion which were made with rich materials and the lower class fashion was made with basic materials. Women's Elizabethan era clothing which consisted of gowns, hats, corsets, underwear, collars, hats, riffs, and shoes. Others are also included like jewelry, makeup, and wedding dresses, but, regardless of how wealthy they were, Elizabethans were not able to wear the clothes they desired to wear. During the Elizabethan Era, these types of clothes were rarely made for comfort. Clothes during this time seem odd, mainly because of the differences, such as the materials used for clothing, how the clothes may look or feel different from today, and status influencing type of clothing. First, to clear confusion, Romeo and Juliet takes place in Italy, but since Shakespeare lived in England, he would have followed the English clothing.

The people who lived during the Elizabethan Era were not allowed to wear whatever they like or desired. Their Fashion choices had to be followed by a strict law! The English people chose to establish social classes by the colors they wore and this had an affect on costumes used in theatre. Queen Elizabeth I followed the sumptuary laws, which was only certain classes were consent to wear specific fabric and colors. Therefore in plays the actors could only wear certain colors for their costumes that displayed what role and class their character was in. The clothes worn during this era was a result of Queen Elizabeth’s sumptuary laws, which had an affect on costumes used in plays, and each color a person wore had a significant meaning.

Having hope enables a person to heal from a situation because it provides the focus that is necessary when it comes to issues that ensure the achievement of goals. Different situations to solve only require them to have priorities and set the right goals. As a result, this calls for hope in order to stay focused on achieving the goals. A prime examples is Henry Ford. Henry Ford who is known today for creating the automobile company Ford.

During the Elizabethan era, Shakespeare’s plays were famous. His costumes was a factor to that. Although, during that era, Elizabethans were not allowed to wear whatever they had liked. Even woman were forbid to perform in the plays. Though, the costumes had enhanced the plays.

Accordingly Makeup can be used for many things. The ancient Egyptians used makeup made from oils and cream to help clean and protect their faces from the hot mild wind. Today we are using makeup for a totally different reason. Makeup isn’t to cover up what's underneath, but it can be a work of art. Most of women are so unhappy with their look and they want to change it. You want these sleepy under bags to disappear? You want to cover the freckles? No problem!! All thanks to makeup.

How does Shakespearan fashion compare to fashion today? Although fashion was just as important in the Elizabethan Era as it is in today’s society, there has been significant changes in fashion throughout our history. From how people dressed then to how people dress today, fashion has always been a great aspect and impact in our lives. Fashion highlights the social history throughout the various periods, and has always been the center of attraction for most. Evolving over the years into what we know today, from the changes in hairstyles, accessories, and our clothes.

What is makeup like today ? Makeup has been wore by men and women since the fourth millennium Archaeologists discovered that even egyptians used makeup. When they opened King Tut’s tomb in 1922, pallets were found, pallets originally used for mixing and grinding powders. Men and women wore rouge and lip pigments. Women would trace their veins and breast with shades of blue and dip their nipples in liquid gold.

Why is that people used as background props are very important to a story or movie if they never even have a line? Maybe it’s because they make the setting seem more realistic and that is exactly what the creators want people to feel. Even less important characters in an act , their presence adds on to the real protagonists and makes them shine. Together and apart Cecily and Algernon cause Gwendolen and Jack to flourish as a couple because of their actions, their words and their social status.

Goals and hope exist because bad things happen to us, in the moment the bad things that happen to us doesn't seem like they will ever get better but if you think about it deep down there is always a little sliver of hope. I'm not sure who created hope or how it was created but I know who created the bad things in the world. Narcissus and Echo created the abstract things, echo and the noun narcissist. This story was really centered more on Echo than it was Narcissus.
