The first half of the nineteenth century in the United States of America was a time of tremendous change for the nation. Firstly, change began as Thomas Jefferson was elected president, which meant the beginning of the Democratic-Republicans reign in office. But this development of the modern United States led not to a unified nation, yet it led to one divided. The expansion and development of ideas and land exposed great regional differences in the United States between 1800 and 1848. Jefferson’s Louisiana Purchase had not only provided the country with land to farm, but it had doubled the size of the United States. Have you ever herd of government parties? The original parties of America were the Democratic Republicans and the Federalists. The Federalists were made by Alexander Hamilton. The DEmocratic Republicans were made by thomas Jefferson and John Adams. As you can imagine these parties had very different views for the new country. They disagreed on a lot of things, including whether they should have a strong state government or a strong federal government.

There was a certain big change in economic and social changes in the United States since 1800. The election of 1800 was between John Adams and Andrew Jackson, which was an emotional and hard-fought campaign. Each side in this campaign thought that the opponent in which would victor, would ruin the nation. Federalists had actually attacked Jackson as an un-Christian deist because they believed his sympathy for the French Revolution would bring similar bloodshed and chaos to the U.S. Overall, the Federalists wanted strong Federal Authority to restrain the excess of popular majorities, while the Democratic-Republicans wanted to reduce national authority so the people would be able to rule through state governments.

George Washington warned us about the threat of political parties in his farewell speech. Only four years later political parties were apart of the election. These two parties were the Federalists and Democratic-Republicans. There are many views that they shared, but also lots of issues they disagree on. For example both parties supported the French Revolution, but only to a certain degree.

During the 1790 the country was split up over the rise of political parties. There were the federalists led by alexander hamilton and the democratic-republicans led by Alexander Hamilton and the democratic republicans led by tomas jefferson. The federalists and democratic-republicans have different views on many things, including the interpretation of the constitution, strong parts of the nation's economy and if the alien and sedition acts were important to have in our country.

Hamilton and Jefferson had different political views, but both wanted what was best for the country.

Conflicts always happen as when people discuss with different perspective of views, especially within the parties of politic. Likewise, the spilt into the Federalists and the Democratic Republicans is the most well-known above them all as the result from the disagreement from the two brilliant politicians: Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson. During George Washington’s presidency, he pointed Hamilton, as the Secretary of the Treasury and Jefferson, as the Secretary of the States in his cabinet. Despite the worry of Washington of damaging the unity, Hamilton and Jefferson had so much objections in each other’s idea of a modelist government they desire to be. As a result, in the end of Washington’s presidency, they declared to separate into the Federalists, leaded by Hamilton and the Democratic Republicans, leaded by Jefferson. Although both of the parties all wanted the best for the United States, like their leaders, the parties has so much contradict believes in the government power, the economy and foreign relations but with so less similarities.

The new nation of the United States of America had many matters to manage, both domestic and foreign. Two political parties emerged to tackle these issues, the Federalists and the Democratic Republicans. Domestic affairs of the United States divided the two emerging political parties more at the time, and had a larger impact on American politics during the 1790’s than foreign affairs.

During the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries the United States saw many problems come and go. Some problems were more important than others, however all led to further division of American politics. The most divisive issue in American politics during this time frame was the idea of Manifest Destiny, or territorial expansion.
