The Shakespeare tragedy of Macbeth depicts the story of an ambitious man, Macbeth. He is an honorable noble of Scotland, but, throughout the play, his ethical character turns corrupt. Macbeth takes a turn for the worst when he encounters three witches. The witches tell Macbeth his prophecy and assert that he will become king of Scotland. Ultimately, this prophecy will trigger Macbeth’s inner ambition and lead to his downfall. The play was written around 1606 during the Jacobean Era, which played a major contribution in the writing of Macbeth. The ultimate symbol displaying national pride is the American flag. The American flag represents freedom, for that reason American citizens worship it. The flag is present in countless places throughout the country and are accompanied by the national anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance. There are seldom events that do not begin with the playing of the national anthem or the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance. In the 1606 England, many people had the same ethic as Americans do, hard work. Today in America, advertising seems to capitalize on this. Whether it is for a new product or a presidential candidate, they try to appeal to a typical "hard-working" American. While they may share that sense of pride, it is ultimately for their own advantage. For example, if a speaker or writer is telling people to vote for a certain candidate, they may try to relate to the audience's national pride by saying it is their civic duty to vote. Shakespeare also had the idea of hard work imbedded in him, so he presented his national pride similarly through his plays. He did this to try and earn support from the king, because without that it would’ve been hard for him to product his
"Macbeth" is a tragic play that was written by William Shakespeare in the early 1600’s. It revolved around the character Macbeth and his urge to become king of Scotland. Macbeth had to do anything possible to become the king including murder, lying, and deception. However, Macbeth committed these evil deeds due to some influential people in his life. Between Macbeth’s wife persuading him to do anything to become king and the witches prophesying over him causes Macbeth to try and bury the past and control the future.
As of the beginning, the three witches provided the courageous Scottish general a prophecy that he will become King of Scotland. From what the witches prophesy, and Lady Macbeth’s encouragement provoked his ambition thoughts and spurred him into fulfilling his ambition. Written in the year 1606, early in the reign of James I, Shakespeare wrote this play for audiences to understand the political context which was fundamental to the core theme of the play, which is unquestionably tragedy. Throughout the play, Shakespeare demonstrates the theme of tragedy through portraying the fall of Macbeth. The playwright successfully leads his audience through the downfall of this character by evoking a sympathetic response in his audiences as the rise and fall of the tragic character progresses throughout the play.
When wearing an American flag on my backpack I felt like we were all united and we're proud to be part of America, but this took time because in the beginning everyone was ashamed to be wearing the flag and no one was really proud of being American, but everything changed. For example, before Hitler came into power, Germans were ashamed of being German because they lots the war and the Treaty of Versailles took away most of the money, reduced their army, and took away power so they felt ashamed, but once Hitler came into power all that changed. Germans started to be proud of their country once again. I honestly did care that everything I did was for the improvement of the state because I benefited from it too. When we got to work with others
Compared to people in other countries, Americans express pride in their country the most. They really don’t care whether they are in their country or out of their country, they just express pride in their country as much as they can. A great example of how patriotic Americans are, is from senator John McCain essay, “VETERANS DAY: NEVER FORGET THEIR DUTY.” In the essay, Senator McCain recalls a moment when he was captured by the Vietnamese as prisoners of war. While he was captured, he met a man whose name was Mike Christian.
Being a die-hard proud American means many different things to contrasting types of people. To some individuals it may mean demeaning other countries and surmise that America is the best of the best. In turn some individuals are firm believers that wearing red, white, and blue on national holidays or anytime in general exhibits a committed proud American. Or having the biggest firework display during holidays like the fourth of July, New Years Eve, Memorial Day, or Labor Day. To some being a proud American is defined by having the American flag flying proudly outside their house at all times. To me being a proud America means an array of things. First it means being proud of our country even when it is going through a rough time. Knowing the
Citizens in America today do not have the pride in their nation that they once had. It is a possibility that the people have pride but they are just too scared to get criticized if they show their pride which is not something that should be done. Being an American means you have pride in your country; the greatest one on earth. A huge example of pride in America was back during World War 2.
Americans have a great love for their country. They fought and they bled to call it their home. American soil represents so much more to people than just a home. Americans see it as freedom, and liberty and their happiness. However, pride for your country can result in borderline racism and categorizing; which is offensive.
Having a lust for power can cause a loss in many things. It’s as if you’re in a win-lose situation. In this case, the play Macbeth written by Shakespeare has scholars sayings, “The lust for power by Macbeth and Lady Macbeth led to a loss of humanity.” With that said, I totally agree with their view. Both Lady Macbeth and Macbeth went out of their way to even killing King Duncan and burdening the murder on his guardsmen. Even though that’s a common human act, you just don’t do something like that. It’s just so wrong. The acts of both these people are very evil and violent, in which causes Macbeth to move from one act of endangerment to another just to protect himself from a great disaster which I likely
In the beginning of the play Macbeth and Macduff are very similar in many aspects including rank, leadership, belief, and loyalty. But as the play unfolds, Shakespeare reveals these two characters are as different as night from day. In this essay I will compare and contrast the characters of the murderous Macbeth, and the forthright Macduff. I will consider their status within the Scottish society and the depth of their intelligence. I will also evaluate their actions and their relationships with other characters, including their families and I will discuss their degrees of ambition.
In America, we take pride in our country because we have a capitalist society where in which people who work hard and take advantage of opportunities end up
According to the classical view, tragedy should arouse feelings of pity and fear in the audience. Does Macbeth do this?

It is human nature to be intrigued by all things mystical and dangerous. We fear the unknown but seek it nonetheless out of greed. Most of Shakespeare’s works hold an element of the supernatural and the play Macbeth is no exception. In this play we see a contemporary morality that warns of the dangers of trafficking with instruments of darkness; the witches in the play prophesize of Macbeths future as king, and Macbeth blinded by his hunger for power fails to recognize that the witches prophecies are luring him to evil . In act 1 scène 3 we see the effect that the excitement of the prophecies has had on his imagination as he begins to contemplate murdering the king. As Macbeth gets closer to
