Dear Superintendent Hopper and MCUSD Board of Trustees,
As my tenure at MCUSD comes to a close, I cannot help but reflect upon the work accomplished during my time here. Since the scope of my work for MCUSD is not widly known, I’d like to share some in this letter.
I have worked for Mariposa for 20 years in the capacity of Elementary Teacher in grades 1, 2, 1/2, 2/3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and EOC. Over the last five years, my duties included the BTSA Support Provider and MCOE Liaison, Academic Coach, ELA Coordinator K-8, and the English Language Arts/English Language Learner Services Coordinator. I am appreciative for the wide range of experience that I have gained over my time here.
Some of my accomplishments over the past 5 years:
Wrote the K-6

Developed the first ever recognition structure for students who passed their CELDT test
Wrote, specifically for MCUSD, the rough draft for a new EL Master Plan
The next group of students are still buzzing with anticipation for this award! Some of this work was met by opposition throughout the year, but in the end, it served to change the landscape for our EL population. I sincerely hope those changes last. I learned that 50 students can be easily overlooked, but they don’t have to be.
And so after 20 years with MCUSD, I resign my position as 6th grade teacher and request to be released from my contract effective at the end of the working day, on Thursday, November 18th. I will be moving to a new position at Fresno County Office of Education as the Coordinator II of the Instructional Technology Services Department.
I look forward to continuing to support Mariposa teachers in this new role at FCOE.
Sincerely,
Marlena
Walker-Davidson announced, “I am thrilled to serve the district and the community in this new capacity. For the past four years I have served as the ABC district middle school principal and I feel that has provided me with a great foundation for moving forward. I am excited to work with the administrative team and staff in order to continue the academic growth within our school district. It is my personal goal to increase the graduation rate, test scores, and the availability of career readiness programs, as well as obtaining and training expert staff members.” Dr. Walker-Davidson went on to explain her mission for the school district to be: success driven, education focused, and student centered. I plan on carrying out this mission with expert educators, dedicated staff members, and community involvement.”

Starting from the teaching assistant, she has with her sincerity and loving nature achieved many awards in teaching profession. Dean’s List, Teaching Ahead and so on awards are under her belt in her small, but effective, almost 11 years, work experience. Moreover, Teaching Assistant and NYS Teacher Certification are two other appreciations she has acquired. She has a natural aptitude in superior interpersonal and communication skills to foster meaningful, spirited and affectionate relationships with students, staff, and parents. Likewise, student motivation, technology integration, creative lesson planning, writing jobs and so on tasks are a piece of cake for her and students enjoy her appearance much.
During my eighth grade year, I was voted president for both student council and National Junior Honor Society. I also participated in the first middle school division competition for Cyber Patriots and placed fourth in the nation. I received an award from the Mayor of San Antonio for this achievement.
Students are nominated by their teachers and guidance counselors, and are judged on their intellectual engagement, creativity, and commitment to community. I was presented this award at the annual academic awards.
Health care is a fundamental element to sustaining the welfare of our society. The ability to become a student in the Grand Canyon University (GCU), Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program, takes me one step closer to being able to achieve my dream of playing a vital role in helping our society towards disease prevention. My experience in the acute care setting has reinforced my passion in disease prevention and health preservation. My short term goal is to be able to successfully complete the required course work. Secondly, I want to be able to acquire the necessary certifications to be able to practice as a FNP. The program at GCU will provide me with the knowledge, and skills I will need to effectively develop my role. The long term goal I have set for myself is to reach the Doctorate level degree at some point in my career. I would like to practice at an independent level and have my own practice in
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my peers once again. Those of you who know me know I’m an entertainer. Well, you have all served as my audience throughout these four years, and you have motivated me in doing so. Your reactions to my personality and my creativity have been indicative and invaluable. I’ve learned more from all of you than from any teacher I’ve ever had. You taught me how to socialize. You’ve enlightened me on the facets of the human condition, the roots of happiness, and the dynamics of friendship. You have given me the life, the strength to keep me moving higher,

Having discovered my calling to work with nontraditional students, I took a position with St. Charles Youth and Family Services as a Teacher of Experiential Education. This position allowed me to interact with urban students from MPS who were expelled, court ordered or Special Education students who were deemed best suited to self-contained program. I loved the challenge every day. Every student was so different, but they all wanted and craved the same thing… acceptance and unconditional love. I wanted more.

September 12th, 2017 will forever be stored in my memory!—God is good! Today, during Felician University’s Teachable Tuesday (A Day for Professional Development for Aspiring Educators), I, Kevin Christopher Cataldo, was recognized for my academic excellence, specifically for representing Felician University’s School of Education at the United Nations last semester—the first student in Felician’s history to do so! Being recognized for your hard work and dedication is one of the greatest feelings! I would like to thank God, my beloved mother, sister, brothers, Christopher, my special friend in heaven, Marian Peters (my second mother), Marco Barahona (my Godfather), my friends, my Science Park family, and Felician University community for constantly
I was awarded the Student Service Leadership Award, during the baccalaureate ceremony preceding my graduation at Xavier University of Louisiana. This honor is important to me because it solidifies that while attending the university I was able to help make a positive difference on campus and the surrounding community. While I have gained other honors, this is the most important because it is a result of practicing my life goal of serving the underserved. I believe that it is up to every person to leave an
