My internship experience proved to be valuable in terms of exposure and knowledge. Attending the M-1 Rail Community Advisory Council meetings were very rewarding. The internship has taught me that it is important to learn how to demonstrate professionalism but courteous behavior at all times. My internship has definitely given me a better understanding of my skill, but most importantly, I’ve come to learn that I am not alone. This job has taught me that almost everybody is in my same position. Thanks to my I know that if I continue to work hard things will fall into place. Being my first position in an office atmosphere, I didn’t know exactly what to expect.
In addition, I value the work most do in offices because at times it is very tedious. Every individuals job is important in an office setting because it is like a well running machine. If one part is not functioning then the entire machine is useless. It is crucial to be responsible with all tasks to have the company running smoothly. It allows you to gain experience and develop you skills, which is how this internship has helped me. I gained knowledge in an area I did not know existed and I was able to develop new skills that I can now apply in my everyday life to help me become a better
After speaking to people, I often had a time to reflect on what I heard. The product was a much greater understanding of the complexity of the American political system. I grew up thinking that that one side was right, and the other was full of irrational arguments. However, people sharing bits of their lives with me taught me that is not true. The support and opposition for every policy makes sense, and deciding which is right is far more of a value judgment than a facts-based judgment than I could have imagined. I feel less sure about what I believe politically after the internship, but again, I do not think that is a bad thing. For the first time, I know how to enter into a thought process without a bias, and able to listen to both sides. This skill is critical for any studies or career in the social sciences.
Although, I have to say candidly that I don’t feel that I accomplished or learned as much in the end as I had aspired to during the onset of each internship.
What was missing or disappointing, if anything, about this internship? What was especially rewarding and educational?
The main task of my internship was to gain more experience and knowledge of our respective field. Overall, the experience proved to be both enjoyable and rewarding. I will never forget the people I was able to get to know and build a relationship with. I will never forget the sight of my first surgery, the precision from skin to scalpel. I will never forget the pregnant trauma victim, whose eyes and expressions left a forever impact on me. Every moment within the career internship came to build an everlasting memory. I was capable of seeing and participating things I would have never seen without.
At the beginning of this internship, I did not know what to expect. It was the first time I was going into a professional work place and a professional setting every day. During my internship at Aflac, I learned a lot and got to experience what it is to work in an insurance company. Going from one department to the other I had the opportunity to get a sense of what real people do on a regular basis. This exposure allowed me to identify the sales area as the area in which I would like to develop more knowledge and eventually work.
The situation that brought me from my first internship to the second one was frustrating and difficult. Nonetheless, it provided me with beneficial learning experiences for my career and life in general. One of the silver linings of interning at these two considerably different internship experiences was increasing my knowledge of two different types of business. The first of these areas was in the Non-Profit organization at PACS, where their mission is to empower individuals who are struggling. The nonprofit industry has always deeply interested me, and what I learned at PACS only fueled that interest. The time I spent at PACS was brief and ended abruptly. Nonetheless, I learned valuable and significant information and gained an understanding of the various business characteristics that are essential in nonprofit organizations.

It has been a while since I started at the internship and I am really glad I decided to work here. I think the experience in this area is a good preview of my career and future. However, through the internship at the Granite Club, I was able to learn much more than what I have expected and was able to achieve all my goals and objectives. First, I was able to learn about the Club as a whole and through it, saw departments that I would like to be in. By rotating into different departments each week, it was an great opportunity to not only see how everything works together, but for myself to see where I would like to set my career. Secondly, I was able to connect and shadow supervisors and managers that I would want to be. Through these experiences, I learned managerial roles and duties. Moreover, this opportunity provided me with connections and network that I would have never gotten anywhere else. The people I worked with were veterans in the industry with vast knowledge and experience. It was great to just feed of them and understanding how they were able to achieve the place they are at now. Lastly, I was able to work with both parking and member services departments to write procedures that managers would write. I was given the opportunity to understand as a manager and write up procedures that would help the staffs to improve and keep Granite Club standards.
