My full name is Luke Mitchell Ison. My first name is unique within my family, but exceptionally common throughout the rest of the world. I share my middle name with my dad, although he prefers to be addressed by said middle name, while I go by my first. My last name comes from my dad’s family’s name. Luke is the English spelling of the Greek name “Λουκᾶς” (Loukas), meaning “from Lucania,” an ancient region in southern Italy. Alternatively and more literally, it can mean light. It gained popularity from the biblical personality, physician, and gospel author St. Luke the Evangelist. Mitchell is derived from Michael, which itself is an English spelling of the Hebrew name “מיכאל” (Mikha’el). Its literal meaning is “Who is like God?” Contextually, …show more content…
About two months before my birth, my parents had it narrowed down to either Logan or Luke. At the same time, my mother’s grandfather was in the hospital close to death. Literally minutes before he actually died, as my parents were in the room with him, he casually referred to me as Luke. From that point, my parents decided that’s what they’d name me. They always knew they’d give their boy the middle name Mitchell, as my mom loved the name and it’s my dad’s name. I inherited Ison from my parents. I personally like my name and wouldn’t really want to change it. There was a time when I considered going by Mitchell, but I never went through with it. Luke was the 50th most common name in the year I was born, so it’s not exactly unique, but at least no one will ever have trouble spelling or pronouncing it. I am called Lou by a select few of my friends, but that’s not by my choice. I feel the most important factor when it comes to choosing a baby’s name is to make sure it sounds suitable with their last name. I don’t know if I’ll marry anyone, or if I’ll take their name or keep mine, or if I’ll have a child with them. But, if all these requirements were met, that’d be the first issue I’d consider when choosing their name. In closing, my name is Luke Mitchell Ison, and now you know more about my
I would like to be called Isaac because it means “he laughs” and I like to laugh a lot.
My parents were set on girl names; if I was a girl, my name would be Lauren, after my Grandpa Loren. Thinking of a middle name became a little difficult. My mom’s mom name was MariLee, and my parents wanted to take something from her name. Finally making a decision, they chose to take the “Lee” out as my middle name. Naming a boy would be a little different; my parents wanted the name Dalton. The only reason behind that is because my mom liked the name; I beg to differ.
The given name I have is Calvin. Calvin is delivered from the French surname Chauvin (babynames.com). The meaning of my given name Calvin is”bald” (googlefacts.com). My family has carried this name for many generations and many more to come. There are currently five generations of men in my family with my full name. My dad, grandfather, great-grandfather
My name is Jonathan Garcia. If Jonathan was a color, it would be blue it describes its cool just like Jonathan. My mom called me Jonathan because she really liked the name. I wasn't name after anyone but I have my dad's last name. My nickname is jo or Jon and my family calls me that because it's short name for Jonathan. If Jonathan was a animal he would be lion because lions are strong just like a Jonathan. My parents wanted my last name to be Garcia and my brother last name to be Sanchez.
I was born July 18, 1999 to my parents Joel and Kathy at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I was a month early, but I was such a large baby that the doctor said “if he came on time he would have driven us home”. My mom was thrilled to have her first and only child; she named me Dylan, after the son of Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee. My name was strongly debated by my Irish Catholic Great Grandmother, who insisted I be named after a saint. After a failed attempt by Father Tommy Conway to convince her of the great Saint Dylan, my mother agreed to give me the middle name Thomas.
Luke, I never really knew what to think of my name it was just there my Whole life, although behind the name there was another world that I never knew about. “Light Given” that is what my name means in greek. I get related to the movie “Star Wars” as Luke Skywalker all the time, almost every day I get called “Skywalker” or someone always says “LUKE, I am your father…” Something I will never be able to escape, although now it is apart of me. Every time someone calls me skywalker I play along because really they are just complimenting my name. The name Luke, from Star Wars was give to him by the creator of the character, George Lucas. If you think about it it fits the movie so well and it was well chosen. Although that was not my case, my name was chosen because my parents thought it fit me well. They refused to name be befor I was born just so my name would fit me. Otherwize I would have been named Samuel. Everyone that knew me said it would be weird calling me Samuel, and I would have to agree with them.
On March 26th, 2004, I was named Ana Reed Margolis. When my parents named me there was no exact meaning to my name, they just liked it. I was named in homage to my great-grandmothers Anne and Annessa, but they changed the name so I would be my own person. It also translates well into most language. This was a factor as if I wanted to travel, my name wouldn’t be an issue.
I was not named after any other person. When I asked my dad and mom they said “We try to come up with a unique name that nobody else had”. My mom came up the name Adam and dad seemed to like it, so he added his middle name in there and it sounded like it fit. So, from there on I was Adam Joe Alexander. There was no disagreement when coming up with my name. The funny thing is, they said I had this name before I was even born, they named me Adam a little bit after they found out she was parget. My dad said “If I was a girl, I would have been named either Serra Jane or Brandy
Matthew - I remember writing my real first name for the first time, then I turned 11. Since I was born I had always been called by my middle name which is Clayton. No one in my life called me Matthew, except when my parents were mad at me, until I lived in Florida 6 years ago. I know that I had written my real first name before I had moved to Florida but for some reason I couldn’t recall this time and how to spell it. So after I had moved to Florida and I walked into my new home, the classroom, for the next year I was told to write my name on a piece of paper that was a little test about
My full name is Campbell Keahi Lord, I feel like my first name is kind of boring there is no fancy story to it ( believe me i’ve tried to find one ). My parents just wanted to find a unisex name that they could live with. My last name I feel is a little more interesting and I get asked a lot of questions about it, but the name that I think is the coolest is my hawaiian middle name, Keahi.
Chances are, you and your partner, your family, and others will all have a different name in mind. While the decision ultimately comes down to the parent(s), keep your mind open to suggestions. Not only will this help in selecting the best name for your baby, but it will make your life easier along the way.
Jackson, a derivative name from my grandpa Jacky or Jack for short. In addition to that my middle name has been inherited from my great grandpa, Willard Dale Kite passed all the way down to me. Although my first and middle name has passed down from my family, my parents chose the name for the strong quality. For example, my dad, grandpa, and great grandpa all worked on farms and spent their time lifting hay barrels. I do not lift hay barrels, but I do put in the work playing sports and mowing yards. Finally, the name had to be a two syllable word so it can fit with my middle and last name and as a result they named me
I have normally regarded my name as simply boring. Samuel is easily pronounced, easily shortened, and incredibly ordinary. I understand my name holds sentimental value to those closest to me and I do identify with some of the characteristics embedded within it. While I know that names do not define personality, I cannot help but to find annoyance within multiple aspects of my birth-given label.Weirdly enough, I know my name fits me because no matter how hard I have tried, I cannot imagine being referred to as anything other than “Sam”.
A name is not just what you’re called, it is who you are. It is what you stand for and ultimately defines you as a person. Growing up, I used to think my name did not fit me and that nothing that my name stood for had anything to do with me. Now that I am older, I understand the real meaning of my name and how the traits that are connected with my name relate to the person that I have become and continue to develop into. My name represents who I am and who I plan to be.
To begin the search, my parents rummaged through different baby books trying to find the perfect name for their next child. They went through a variety of
