The issue of loyalty and trust as opposed to ones own preservation and survival can quickly become a philosophical dilemma. Every day when individuals interact with others who we know or our strangers we all contemplate whether these people are trustable or even imaginable of being loyal. We all have our circle of trust, then some people who have borderline loyalty to us, and then others who that can never be allowed the privilege of being entrusted with information. Throughout The Horde the alliances and ultimate desired outcome of the film changes greatly. People who are complete opposites from each other and started out with the goal of trying to murder each other have to work together. Both parties have the furthest thing on earth from …show more content…

Seconds later Aurore shoots him right in the head in front of everyone. It once again weakened Ouessem’s trust for her, but she had known about Tony’s bite so it was only time before he turned. At this point in the film all four of the cops had trust issues at one point with each other, which made issues escalate quickly. Shortly after this Boa is convinced by Jose that Ade is no longer a friend nor brother of theirs. Boa puts a gun to his head and demands they give up all their weapons. At this point in the movie this was the most questionable act done by anyone. Boa let his loyalty fly above his head and let Jose get to him mentally. Boa got reminded of the ways him and Ade were treated in Nigeria prior and it must’ve not hit him the right way because he betrayed his brother shortly after. He had been grown and raised with his brother and made it this far and dropped all of that when he finally had the chance of having a higher sense of power than Ade, instead of the man who took orders from
In the novel, The Chrysalids by John Wyndham, the trust, and loyalty that David’s group and allies demonstrated leads to their survival and ultimate escape from Waknuk. Examples of trust and loyalty are demonstrated leading to the group's survival are allies like Uncle Axle and Rosalind’s mother supporting the group. Another example of trust and loyalty leading to the survival the group is how all the members were loyal enough to choose to keep their secret (even though some of them were tortured for it). In the story, Uncle Axle and Rosalind’s mother, who is allied to the telepathic group, help the Chrysalids survive through their loyalty towards the group. First, loyalty is demonstrated when Rosalind's mother helped them to pack so
When the Pilgrims first arrived at Plymouth in 1620, they were faced with incredible obstacles that took extreme strength and determination to overcome. Little did the Pilgrims know that it would just get harder from there, especially when the King Philip’s War began. This war, mainly fought between the two groups of the Native Americans and the Pilgrims, caused huge death tolls on each side and could easily have been prevented, or, at least, downsized, if the leaders on both sides had not been quite so proud. The King Philip’s War was the result of, and contained, racism, national loyalty and alliances, and economic interests and land greed.
Loyalty is a theme found in many classics. The three classics that are discussed in this paper are _Sir Gawain and the Green Knight_, written by an unknown author, _The Odyssey_ by Homer, and _Don Quixote_, written by Miguel de Cervantes. In all three of the masterpieces loyalty can be traced through the characters action and words. Loyalty is evident in the characters behaviors to one another or maybe through a test they endure. In _The Odyssey_, _Sir Gawain and the Green Knight_, and _Don Quixote_ loyalty is apparent throughout the story.
In a short story called “Damon and Pythias”, there was a cruel tyrant named Dionysius. Dionysius accused Pythias of trying to overthrow him and was sentenced to death. To say goodbyes, Pythias asked his friend Damon to stay in his place. Damon blithely agreed. He fully trusted that Pythias would return, and he was right.
“We have everything we need to be happy, but we aren't happy. Something’s missing,” writes Ray Bradbury in his novel Fahrenheit 451 (82). Fahrenheit 451 is a book set in a dystopian society where people are restricted to thinking only a certain way. There aren't any two-sided political debates or controversies among media. This is because all media considered tendentious has been banned, and in order to maintain this rule, firemen have been given the duty of burning books. Among the firemen is Guy Montag, a man who would be considered as a society norm with a house and a wife. In the beginning of the book, Montag has no worries and he accepts his life as a nondescript fireman in this unmindful world. However, after encountering his “seventeen
When Beowulf first hears of the horrendous creature Grendel who slaughtered many of Hrothgar’s men He sails with his men to Herot he gets stopped at the entrance by a soldier. The soldier of course does not trust Beowulf so he asks who his father is. Whoever was your father really mattered, it said what kind of person you were because of your fathers actions. The soldier says to Beowulf “Tell me your name/ and your fathers; no spies go further into Danish/ soil than you’ve already come” (lines 165-168). Beowulf explains who his father was and his intentions in Herot. Beowulf says that he has heard of the monster and all he wants is to help them because they have suffered for too long. The soldier guarding the entrance into Herot let Beowulf and his men enter, the soldier seems to trust Beowulf and he says to him. “’ A soldier should know the difference between words/ and deeds and keep that knowledge clear in his brain. I believe your words, I trust in/ your friendship”’ (lines 200-203). Beowulf sails to Herot to kill a monster that has murdered many men. He does this for many reasons he to help, he wants everyone to see his ability, and he just wants some glory.
Loyalty in Odysseus’ world was a big deal. Once you’re loyal to someone, you follow them forever, even to death. But the consequences of disloyalty is death or exile. In the Odyssey ' was the ringleader of the suitors. When Odysseus killed him, all the other suitor basically gave up their lives. In this instance, all the suitors that were following Antinous were killed. Even though they were not loyal to him, the suitors still followed Antinous to death. At another time in the story, Odysseus and his men were imprisoned in a cave with a cyclops guarding the door. Every day the cyclops would eat a one or two men, but Odysseus’ men stay loyal. They knew there leader was going to get them out of the situation. When men were dying, they
Loyalty has always been seen as a commendable trait, not only in human beings but in any creature, all through history. Soldiers have admired their enemies for their loyalty to fallen comrades, thousands of stories have been written about the intense loyalty animals portray for their owners, and even companies in the workforce look for loyalty in potential employees. Loyalty has been seen as something that distinguishes the trustworthy from the untrustworthy, and something that sets the great apart from the good. The archetypal hero commonly has a cause, whether it be another person or personal beliefs, that they are loyal to, and this unwavering loyalty is what makes them appear so highly in the eyes of the reader. Loyalty can be found in practically any work of literature, but within The Torah, The Odyssey, and Inanna is the idea that true loyalty, although a rare attribute, is the key to a successful relationship.
Beowulf, is an epic hero who battles Grendel, a demon, Grendel's mother, and a fire breathing dragon. His boast and encounters reveal him the strongest warrior around. He is known for his characteristics of Anglo Saxons code of honor including bravery, strength, and loyalty.
The main points in the article “Their Best Way to Show Loyalty” published on March 6, 1942 is to remove all Japanese people out of military zones until the war is over, give Japanese as much time as they can to find a place to go, and to make it as easy as possible for them to go and stay until the war is over. The government believed the best thing for these people was to have them leave. Japanese people were in danger living where they were, and if they would have stayed there would have been real danger arising. Any kind of sabotage would have caused a race riot and that’s something the government didn’t want. This article was trying to accomplish or show why Japanese had to flee and move away from their natural homes. Also to show the beginning of internment, which began by some people being placed in a
Having to research each party, I found out that Republicans and Democrats are way farther apart than at any point in history. Each party, such as the Republicans and Democrats express their point of view by giving negative views of the opposite party. The republicans want to end slavery for good making their symbol as an elephant. The Democrats were people who support slavery and disagree with it as well. The democrats have the donkey as a symbol, symbolizing “let the people rule”. Looking at the graph, the Democrat Party has jumped from 17% to 43% in the last 20 years. The Republican Party has also gained more people jumping from 16% to 38%.
Sophocles wrote the last play in the Theban Trilogy, Antigone. Only seven of Sophocles´s one hundred-twenty-three tragedies have survived to the modern era. Antigone is performed most often. Antigone is the daughter of the former king of Thebes, Oedipus. Sophocles wanted to show the social and political concerns of his times by using Antigone choice to defy the rule of the elders that her brothers, Polynices be left out on the ground to die and decay with the vulchers and bugs and nature take his remains.
According to the Army, Loyalty is to bear true faith and allegiance to the U.S. constitution, the Army, and other Soldiers. Loyal means to be devoted, faithful, and trustworthy. Therefore, no matter what situation you find yourself in at wartime or peacetime you have to be faithful, trustworthy, and devoted to the nation, the people and its customs and traditions. For instance, if I were going through a financial problem and a foreigner came up to me and offered to pay me lump sum of money to give them information that are considered classified. Instead of me accepting the easy way out to get out of debt I would report him to the authority and my chain of command to prevent myself from committing unlawful act and putting my comrades and my country in danger.
Throughout Henry IV parallels can be drawn between Henry’s murderous ascension to the throne, the robbery of the travelers on their way to Canterbury, and Hotspurs plan to divide the kingdom among his family and supporters. One of the more obvious parallels to be drawn is that all of these situations involve concepts of both loyalty and betrayal. In the case of the robbery on the road to Canterbury, Hal and Poins’s scheme to make fools of the other thieves in their company by charging them in disguise and forcing them to flee shows that there is very little loyalty among this group of highwaymen. Immediately before these events take place we see this same sentiment echoed by Falstaff when after his horse horse has been hidden he proclaims, “A plague upon it when thieves
How is Loyalty defined in the modern military today? Loyalty is a characteristic and trait that cannot be forced upon a soldier nor feared into them. Loyalty is rather created and developed on the basis of trust from others around you including your superiors. Instilling and creating a trusting bond will allow the soldier to develop loyalty to oneself, their unit, and their chain of command.
