The woman talks and tells her man, the man of her dreams that she watches herself being burnt by all the violence she experiences in their relationship, but she still remains there, she is not going to leave him. She is going to stand there, and she is going to keep on crying but she is not going to abandon him. So, listeners realize from the very beginning that she is involved in a relationship where domestic violence is the relationship's big closed secret. So then the man as if he explodes, sings the following verses and stanza. Eminem sings his words as if he is ready to explode, in a feeling of despair, and anger at himself for his behavior.
‘I can't tell you what it really is / I can only tell you what it feels like / And right now there's a steel knife in my windpipe / I can't breathe, but I still fight while I can fight / As long as the wrong feels right / It's like I'm in flight / High off of love, drunk from her hate / It's like I'm huffing paint / And I love it the more that I suffer / I suffocate / …'. The man addresses the woman now. He knows that what they live cannot be described. He knows that he can only stick to trying to give her the idea of what his behavior feels like. He cannot explain it, he cannot give her his own judgment but he can only express the way he feels.

this song she takes us on a journey of centuries and how the years had been with either comfortable or unopposable situations that humankind faced and still are facing. This is a deep sense that Nina Semone was elaborating through her craft of music the theoretical approach that
In line 7 (“He isn’t an enemy now”) the speaker is telling herself that she should not be dwelling on the past because her ex can’t hurt her anymore. The “bitch” seems to be doing fine in controlling her emotions until line 9 when her ex-lover asks her: ““How are the children? They must be growing up.” An immediate change of tone occurs here. There is an internal struggle going on between her heart and her mind. The speaker’s mind is telling her to be polite to her ex, forget the past and move on. The bitch’s heart, on the other hand, is keeping her from moving on and causing her to struggle with feelings of desire. This is clear, for example, in lines 10-13: “At a kind word from him... Down, girl! Keep your distance.” The speaker knows that if she accidentally gets to close to this ex-lover by having feelings again, she will only end up getting hurt. Kind words and gestures can often be deceiving and I have learned that unfortunately charming people are dangerous. I have been hurt numerous times by such personalities by only looking at their kind side and ignoring other flaws. The bitch is warning herself to not get caught up in this trap of feelings again.
This song implies that individual’s are violating the norms and values of society. They start the song with a verse that expresses
In order to please her man, she is willing to do anything. As a result, she expects to get the things she wants. However, throughout the song she gives some clues that allow people to have an idea about her inner struggles. For example, she is self-conscious about her weight, she does not have a good relationship with other women, and she feels the need to use sex as her weapon to gain, material wealth and power over men. This song is congruent with Morgan’s opinion that women are denied access to power and are suffering for it. It also give people an idea, why men are referring to women as bitches.
Although in the 60’s, when this song was first released, women might have had positive views about this song; because in fact women’s role 50 years ago was mainly adhering to their man’s need, whether it being supporting him, serving him or pleasing him. In which the
Kevin Young’s “I am Trying to Break Your Heart” examines the dark and chaotic nature of trying to heal from emotional damage. Addressing a lover, the speaker uses twisted and macabre diction to describe the dark feelings that brew within him. These sinister desires to harm the lover shine through in the terse language and erratic structure, as well as. The 2008 poem alludes to a Wilco song of the same name, wherein the speaker describes his heartache after leaving his lover and facing regret concerning the situation. This is alluded to in stanzas 12 and 13 when Young writes “... I assassin / down the avenue,” (22-23) the second line of the song. Without taking note of this allusion, the poem would seem as if Young is portraying himself as a manipulator seeking to gain power over his lover. But through referencing the 2002 song “I am Trying to Break Your Heart” by Jeff Tweedy, Young clarifies his intent. The poem is meant to illustrate the chaotic and destructive nature of healing from emotional damage, showing how a love lost can leave an individual scarred and vengeful.
The song is written about an attractive woman that appeals highly to Robert Plant. He speaks of the way she moves and her physical appearance in a very sexual
Your first thought is the love between the couple is toxic and lethal yet, he cannot resist his partner. But, really it is a reference to Cocaine. Cocaine is given a female voice. He uses personification by bringing the drug to life, where it can communicate with him and become part of his life. He knows that this “girl” meaning, Cocaine is going to be the death of him. While in use of Cocaine he gets numb. “But at least we’ll both be beautiful and stay forever young/ This I know, (yeah) this I know” (3-4). You say again, that he is singing about how the love is so very satisfying. But he is actually meaning that his desire for this young and beautiful woman makes him feel good. He feels as if he is invincible when he has her. Even though he seems to be aware of the consequences that come with feeling young and beautiful; with the use of Cocaine. “She told me, ‘Don’t worry about it.’/ She told me, ‘Don’t worry no more.’/ We both knew we can’t go without it/ She told me you’ll

This song is full of multiple literary devices such as hyperboles, metaphors, and imagery. The hyperboles in the song emphasize strong feelings such as love, hate, and pain. For example, “Just [going to] stand there and watch me burn” (Rihanna, 1), is emphasizing that she is in extreme amounts of pain and all that her significant other is doing, is watching her suffer. “You ever love somebody so much you can barely breathe when [you are] with [them]” (Eminem, 33), emphasizes and how he is so in love with
Beyonce uses pathos, the first of the three appeals in her song by using very descriptive phrases. When she states, “I’d listen to her, `cause I know how it hurts,” Beyonce is telling her audience that she understands what it is like to be hurt, and that if she were a boy, she would treat her women better because she could understand where she was coming from. This tugs at the listener’s heart because you can see that she has been emotionally hurt from a past relationship. Also, many people can relate to what she is disclosing. It is human nature for people to get emotionally damaged in a relationship and therefore her feelings are empathized. She also uses syntax by the way she orders her words by telling a story. If the song was not in story form, it would not produce the great impact that it does.
In the song, Eminem’s anger and emotions is used as a premise in the music lyrics, which
Analyzing the word, "beautiful" in this stanza, one should perceive that she is not actually singing about the outside of her, but what she consists of emotionally and mentally on the inside. She reveals that her thoughts and emotions are of worth and value and they are of her opinion. They are consumed through her, and no one else and if anyone disagrees, she does not take that into affect. Her diction is actually pretty precise. To quote a famous cliché, beauty is not skin deep. She explains that the beauty is the sentiment.
