More and more human are murdered everyday for no reason at all. People will often start off good and then will later turn bad because of power or an audience watching. I believe that humans are bad because they are violent and are selfish.
William Golding’s novel Lord of the Flies shows that humans are bad through being violent. Simon got killed because Jack made everyone else fear the beast that was never there. He wanted people to fear so that he will stay control of all the power. Jack also put everyone else down and wanted people to be under his rule so he can remain on top. He always made fun of Piggy for his physical disabilities. “ Who cares what you believe- Fatty!” (page 90). Jack was willing to kill anyone who threatened him or his authority. “They’re going to hunt you tomorrow.” (page 188). Jack was also so powerful he wanted to burn the island. “He saw a shelter burst into flames and the fire flapped at his right soldier and there was a glitter of water” (page 200).

Jack wanted all the power to himself even from the beginning. He already had power of boys before the crash had happened. He didn’t want anyone to tell him he couldn’t do something or wasn’t allowed to. He always wanted to hunt without worrying about other responsibilities. “I was talking about smoke! Don’t you want to be rescued? All you can talk about is pig, pig, pig!” (page 54). “Now there’s no water. The shells are dry. People drink from the river” (page
Jack represents evil, violence and how people can have a dark side emerge in a period of hardship. As a former choirmaster and "head boy" at his school, he lands on the island having had control and power over others, by overpowering the choir with his bad attitude. He wants to make rules similar to Ralph but his rules are much harsher. Jack’s rules are more black and white.
In the beginning Jack was willing to obey Ralph, the boy who was elected chief on the island, and cooperate with the rules he created mainly because Ralph put him in charge of the choir boys. For instance, Jack says,
Upon the arrival of the boys to the island Jack immediately found himself in the center of a power struggle. Although the conflict was brief, there was still a very obvious confrontation between
From the beginning of the book Jack would stab tree trunks when he did not get a kill but when he did he felt empowered and always tried to take leadership of the group. He was always jealous of Ralph because Ralph was chief and that gave him power over everyone including Jack. Jack is unfamiliar with this kind of setting so instinctively strived to be leader. Then when Jack finally became leader of his own tribe he was taking the power for granted. Instead of encouraging his tribe to try to be rescued, he scared them into being reckless
Argumentative Essay: Simon Golding uses setting details as symbols to develop abstract characteristics of Simon. To start with, Simon has a characteristic of gentleness/goodness. In the text it states, “The deep sea breaking miles away on the reef made an undertone less perceptible than the susurration of the blood.” The way these setting details represent gentleness /goodness is that the blood can represent evil or fear like you can find blood in a murder. Meanwhile, the sea is gentler and it has goodness because it can provide survival for animals and people like fishing.
Jack was waiting for this moment to happen, when he was able to just break free and be his true evil self. Out of all the boys on the island, Jack was the only one that
Manipulation had existed in our world for many centuries. Innocence, generosity, and especially leadership can be misleading . Lord of the Flies by William Golding is a fictional book that reveals how the manipulative administration over others can come to be, and has a plot that is situated in a scenario where multiple children are stranded on an island together. Ralph and Jack, two main characters of this book, both developed a friendly relationship with each other in the beginning of this novel.
Jack uses the beast to gain power and promises of protection for the boys; from the beast. Jack uses the boys’ fear of the beast to manipulate them to his own advantage. He knows it doesn’t exist; however he uses its hypothetical existence to ensure the compliance of the other boys and follow his commands. Fear is the source of Jack’s power. The other boys don’t flock to Jack for his personality or leadership; instead, they gather around him for the solace he promised them.
This rise to power inflates his ego and he begins to display characteristics of rash dictators, as if mimicking them. FOr example, Jack risked the livelihood of the entire island, just to avenge Ralph, “they had smoked him out and set the island on fire” (Golding ). If the boys had not been rescued when they were, they would have been unable to survive any longer, for Jack burned their food supply and shelters. Jack acting as a rash leader can possibly

Over time, many have realized that people have the power to change others, however some believe that people cannot and will not change. One side of this argument is that though people will be the same their whole life, and never change. On the contrary, people have been changed by others over time and throughout history. It is a fact of life that people have the power to change others through their actions, perspectives, and ability to persuade their point of view.
Twelve year old boys are stranded on an island with a sense of survival, but these young boys become uncivilized and turn into “savages”. They say that they cannot control their savage ways, I disagree with that statement. I think the boys could have some control is some situations.Ralph and Jack separated as two different leaders. Ralph wanted to get saved and build a fire, while Jack has been on the other side of the island, hunting and acting wild. The group of boys decided to join Jack’s side because he was a fun leader and traveled to his side. Jack never saw the island as a threat, he wanted to have fun and be wild. He would stand tall and saw proudly in the group, “this is our island. It's a good island. Until grownups come

Back at school, Jack and I were friends. We had every class together and were always dealing with the same things at the same time. We were always together, but that seemed to end when we crashed into the island. The smell of smoke arose into the air making it difficult to breath. Carefully making my way out from underneath all the debris I stood up. Walking a couple paces from the plane i turned and looked at what used to be a plane. Looking around at the crash sight I searched for my friends; including Jack and Nathan. After making a couple of rounds around the plane to see if anyone needed help, I wandered around to search for survivors. After finding a group of two boys, named Piggy and Ralph, I wondered if this was all that made it. A
Jack is only interested in power, he acts like a dictator and doesn’t follow the communities thoughts. Some actions that Jack takes that shows this are "I got the conch," said Piggy indignantly. “You let me speak!” “The conch doesn’t count on top of the mountain," said Jack, “So you shut up.” This shows how Jack acts like dictator because he doesn’t listen to what the people say. “He's not a hunter. He'd never have got us meat. He isn't a perfect and we don't know anything about him. He just gives orders and expects people to obey for nothing. All this talk-.” This shows how Jack is power hungry and will basically do anything to get it, he is trying to make Ralph look like a bad chief in order for him to try to take the power away from him and get it for himself. “We’ll raid them and take fire. There must be four of you; Henry and you, Robert and Maurice. We'll put on paint and sneak up.” This shows how Jack uses his power to make his tribe members listen to his orders and steal the members of the other tribes. Jack is only interested in power and wants the power for his own
