Looking For The Godfather

In the story of the old man, even though wise woman suggested family to kill the angel, they decided otherwise, as they had a kind heart. As their child became healthy, they decided to give him a reward and they provided him treatment facility and helped him to recover his health (Jackson).

Francis Ford Coppola directed the gangster crime drama film, The Godfather (1972), inspired by the novel of the same name, written by Author Mario Puzo. The film plays out in the beginning how Don Corleone declined to join the narcotics business with notorious drug lord Sollozzo. With this in mind, one of the greatest gangster films created by a man who decided to lead, and not follows. Moreover, explaining the formalist approach for this film which covers an array of elements that include plot structure, camera techniques, editing, mise en scene, and sound. The following film critique will analyze “The Godfather,” beginning by utilizing the formalist approach theory, camera technique and sound gradually introducing additional theories

In the story we see the development of the young man into adulthood and responsibility. He seems to be a fair headed person but once Death begins to give him riches and fame we see that the young man's behavior begins to change. Since it seems that the young man never really has to work for his riches he begins to take his fame and wealth, and his godfather for granted. This is demonstrated three times in the story, once when the king becomes ill, second when the princess becomes sick herself and is in need of a physician and finally when the young doctor is shown his candle of life.

It shows how important a family is, that should be valued and kept. Motivation takes place in the story, though the boy is faced with circumstances he never stops believing in the possibility of a good life and together with his grandmother believe that they can change the world for better. The love and comfort they give to one another seems to spur this belief.

This novel is a classic example of many people's lives, which includes fear, jealousy, pride and their insecurities to name a few. The transformation of the narrator from before his reincarnation until afterwards is filled with tragedy and grief, but it is through the sacrifice of his own life that he is permanently freed from his jealousy and egotism. One of the greatest films and novels of all time, The Godfather by Mario Puzo is the book that I chose to write my report about. This book falls under the drama and crime fiction genres, due to its dramatic story of people being shot and murdered. The Godfather takes place in New York during the years 1945-1955, right after World War II. Most of the story is written from a narrator 's perspective, save for two points in the book in which the story becomes a first person point of view. One of the themes portrayed in the novel is that family always comes first, even if it isn’t a blood-related family, but a crime family. The novel’s theme is primarily that of loyalty, which is a crucial plot device because some of the Corleone family

As the story quotes, " 'Mother, what are you doing?' he asked. 'Do not worry, my son,' she answered gently. 'I am just marking the was so you will not get lost returning to the village.' " This quote generally means that the mother and son are very close and they both share a very detailed relationship. The feelings the story bring to the characters is showing how much the characters love and care for each other. But some others characters show different emotions like the young lord, he was very mean and treated most people with no respect. An example would be when the story quotes, " 'Fools!' the lord cried angrily. 'What good is your wisdom if you cannot help me now?' ". This quote shows how the young lord did not have confidence in his wise

The theme of this novel is to look at the good you do in life and how it carries over after your death. The moral of the book is; "People can make changes in their lives whenever they really want to, even right up to the end."

In the story, the narrator, who is the author, struggles with knowing that his son died. He finds no joy and no consolation (Wolterstorff, 1987). He must fly across the ocean in order to claim his son’s body in order to bury him (Wolterstorff, 1987). No parent should bury their child is something the author heartily believes. He draws parallels of placing his son in a cradle as he places him in the coffin (Wolterstorff, 1987). This is hard for him because he only sees the darkness and cannot find God in such darkness.

In the story The Road, there are two main characters. One is The Man and the other character is The Boy. The Man is the father of The Boy, who was born in a post apocalyptic world. The Man constantly faces many conflicts throughout the story, such as man against nature, man against man, and man against self. However, throughout the entire story he is able to overcome these conflicts for his sake and that of his son. One of the most difficult tasks the man has throughout the story is taking care of his son. The author reveals the death of the boy’s mom in many flashbacks. For example, when the boy tells his father, “I wish I was with my mom,” and the dad responds, “You mean you wish you were dead,” (McCarthy 49). The mom was not able to cope with the situation and committed suicide. This was very tough on The Man, however he was strong for his son. The man believes God appointed him to get his son through the tough times. He says, “ I was appointed to do that by God,” (McCarthy 66). The Man is shown to be very brave for himself and his son in every circumstance. He is able to cope very well with the setting. Overall, The Man is shown as a brave, loving, and compassionate

“Thank you for coming on such short notice, Father.” a weary voice said as the door opened. He had thinning grey hair, a scruffy beard, and looked downright distraught.

God has become angry with his people. He complains in the fifteenth century English play Everyman about humans and their obsession with material items, riches, and wealth. Men and women, he feels, have taken for granted their blessings. God wants to reprimand Everyman for his sinful life and sends Death to summon him. At the beginning of the allegorical work where figures and actions symbolize general truths, a messenger shares God’s concerns. The messenger tells the audience to watch and listen closely to the morality play so they can learn a lesson about life. Everyman fears Death, and he desires to know what one must do to earn salvation and enter heaven. The writer then implies that the way to achieve salvation is by doing good works.

One specific subject critics have touched upon are life lessons. Many scenarios in life can teach valuable lessons, in the story “Godfather Death” there are three main lessons that can be learned. The first lesson actually is in the lesson itself, many times lessons can be what makes people stronger or it can become a person’s undoing. This kind of lesson can only be learned after making mistakes. How you react is the ultimate factor in determining your future. You can choose to appreciate the lesson and avoid further similar mistakes, or you can become a victim and be unable to continue life

THE GODFATHER, made in 1974, details the Corleone crime family in Manhattan during the mid 1930s. The Don, Vito Corleone, played by Marlon Brando, leads his organization against a relentless narcotics push by a rival family, the Sollozzos. Vito Caleone does not want anything to do with drugs because he believes they will be the downfall of the Mafia. The story, covering a ten year time period, offers a rich tapestry of Mafia life from the inside, drawing the audience into witnessing the transfer of power within a close-knit family

“A man who doesn’t spend time with his family, can never be a real man” - Mario Puzo, The Godfather. As described in the novel Godfather, Don Corleone is a man who is passionate for obtaining respect, as well as repaying the favor. Don, a man of power, and much wisdom is very persuasive in using force to get what he wants. Throughout the Godfather, it will take many twists and turns into the lives of the mafia. It will reveal a world of crime, men on the run. Drugs, what such things
