It is a boundary-spanning management philosophy that requires companies to search for competitive advantage by looking beyond the frontiers of their own organisation. What makes supply chain management such a potent marketplace force today is its ability to provide a seamless channel structure that is physically dispersed and consists of different competencies, yet functions as a coherent customer-satisfying resource whose boundaries appear invisible to the customer.

Unification means that not only logistics activities, such as inventory planning, purchasing and transportation, but also core business activities, such as marketing, sales and product development, performed by each channel partner function now as correlative processes.

Through the convergence of information systems networking and telecommunications technologies, today's channel can bypass the encumbrances of dealing sequentially with the transfer of critical marketplace information and the traditional movement of inventory from collection point to collection point on their way up and down the supply channel.

Transportation is a key element in the logistic chain. It joins together those components that are considered to be separated. In order for transportation and logistics to work together successfully there must be good management between them. It plays a major role in connecting it all together. Supply chain management is defined as a continuously evolving management philosophy that seeks to unify the collective productive competencies and resources of the business functions found both within the enterprise and outside in the firm’s allied business partners located along intersecting supply channels into highly competitive, customer-enriching supply system focused on developing innovative solutions and synchronizing the flow of marketplace products, services, and information to create unique, individualized sources of customer value (Ross, 1998).

In order to deal with the ever growing changes in competition in the market, the company must take into consideration the speed, efficiency, and other conditions in the operation of strategies, and in crossing these socio economic barriers management plays a really important role, in the deployment of strategic plan s and objectives to deal with each issue that rises from every and each one of these barriers, therefore the industry needs to pay attention to the vertical integrative relationship among upstream suppliers, midstream retailers, as well as downstream retail customers, the transformational process of the global industry, and the need of the logistics management system is gradually

Logistics is a process by which an item is moved from its point of creation or production to the point at which it is used as planned by a company, a government or similar institutions. The items moved within a network could be Dangerous Goods, foodstuffs, ammunition, electronics, building cranes and whole host of other products. Time and financial considerations are considered when making these plans as are government regulations that guide the movement of items within a network.
Logistics is that part of the supply chain process that plans, implements, and controls the efficient, effective flow and storage of goods, services, and related information from the point-of-origin to the point of- consumption in order to meet customers ' requirements (Enarsson, 2015). Simply put, logistic means moving product from one point to another in the most effective way. What is logistics? It is management process of the movement of resources it can be either raw material or finish goods between source of consumption and the end user i.e. customer, organization to meet requirements. The Recent acrimonious debate has focused on the argument of whether logistics and marketing is friend. Marketing is defined as the management processes of individuals and groups create the demand and meet the demand. (Kotler et al. 2013). Converse (1954) made a speech at twenty-sixth Boston Conference on distribution. He claims that the process of selling goods and the process of satisfying consumer’s needs is closely related to logistics. Christopher (2011) states that the performance of marketing is to depend on logistics supply chain. There is no doubt that the logistics is a close link to marketing, in other wards, the logistics is the best friend for marketing. Madhani and Pankaj (2012) claim that the main task of supply chain is to optimize the process of production and distribution in order to control the cost. In contrast, marketing is meet customers’ need in order to maximize profits. As a result, supply chain and marketing work independent, both of them are enemies. However, logistic has a direct and positive decisive influence on the marking in terms of product value, marketing mix and customer service.
Logistics refers to all the processes involved in storing, moving, transporting or in any other way handling material. Role of logistics in activities before start of material and after completion of manufacture up to transportation to the immediate customer has been well recognized in the past also. But the logistics cost and effectiveness is also affected by, and in turn affect all other activities along the supply chain.
Logistics is considered as an operational process which includes activities such as storing, transporting and distribution of physical goods.
