Recreational usage is a courtesy and is not considered in the outcome for the locks. This Lock and Dam’s sole purpose is not for flood control, or recreation, but it is for the transportation of goods. Accurate record keeping is a must to keep the money allocated by Congress for the Lock and Dam.
.2. Maintenance Communication My maintenance duties consist of a myriad of working knowledge of power tools, hand tools and heavy equipment. I am required to have a working knowledge and to be proficient in the use of precision tools like multi-meter, volt meter, dial calipers, and micrometers. I must also possess the skills to train others to use them. Basic knowledge of drawings, prints, and schematics is required. I conduct or

Quality communication was essential in each of these situations not only for the repair but the safety of everyone. The maintenance part of my job requires me to research where to find replacement parts for an aging system or like parts of the existing system every time something breaks or needs preventative maintenance. I must read and research prints and plans for circuits and piping. There is not a perfect manual for everything so, I must research and test hypothesis –to troubleshoot mechanical, lighting, hydraulic pumps etc. The data is then input into FEMS (Facilities and Equipment Maintenance System) to track hours worked and non-routine maintenance. Maintenance is consistently monitored and stored in the FEM system which has a record everything the operator needs to do to keep the facility running such as storing work orders. An example of data we store beyond maintenance hours and scheduling, is the gap in the bull nose, which is an opening in the concrete at the end of the guard wall where the boats enter. The guard wall keeps the boat from moving over and hitting the dam. This crack is frequently measured and recorded for repair and safety purposes.

The Grand Coulee Dam(G.C.D) changed Kettle Falls forever. Kettle Falls was a peaceful river where Native Americans fished every year. It is said that around 3,000 fish were fished every year. Then in 1933, everything changed when the Grand Coulee Dam started construction and finished on June 1, 1942, that is almost a decade. I feel like it is good that we built the Grand Coulee Dam. The Dam has great effects that have benefitted Washington. Two of them are the jobs people got in the Great Depression and Irrigation we got.
The article “Down go the dams” by Jane C.Marks aim to provide an informative view on the current pending issue on Dams. The article starts out my mentioning the important nature of dams in our society. For example, Jane C.Marks states that today about 800,000 dams operate worldwide as well as the fact that most were built in the past century, primarily after World War II. Furthermore, the author lays down informative facts about dams such as the fact that dams control flooding and their reservoirs provide a reliable supply of water for irrigation, drinking and recreation which are all very important to society. In an economic standpoint, although it is very high maintenance dams provide jobs for people. The
The Bonneville Dam is located in the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington state. The Bonneville Dam began construction in 1934 and was opened by 1938. The Dam was built to generate a large amount of energy to the public, to control floods, and for irrigation. It was also constructed to improve navigation on the Columbia River. The construction of the Bonneville Dam caused negative effects to the Indian community that had centered their culture near the Columbia River. The facility administrator that was overseeing the construction of the dam was ordered to complete the dam taking any step necessary to do so. This included the decision on the disposal of personal property of the area which caused the destruction of forty Indian fishing
To demonstrate effective communicational skills one must use one to one interaction for example to communicate. This was done through acting skills such as hand gestures that can be used as a stimulus or signal to the other person to listen or to calm down. For example if two people are conversing and one is speaking in a loud aggressive tone, the other person can use hand gestures to make them calm and quieter. Furthermore to use interactive
All tasks involving manual handling must be risk assessed and controlled. Responsibilities for all levels of employees and management must be identified, communicated and discharged effectively by all concerned. Equipment will be provided to assist in manual handling where a need is identified as part of a control measure. This equipment will be used appropriately and maintained well at all times with all operators certified where this is required under law.
The United States Army understands the need for effective communication and proper preparation and presentation. To help each soldier communicate, the Army has developed four types of briefings and the steps needed to prepare and present each briefing. By having an outline and format standardized by the Army, it gives each soldier the ability to create the proper briefing needed to effectively communicate in today’s complicated world. Learning each military briefing format and the reasons why we use one briefing over the other is the goal of this paper.

Communication is very important to meet the needs of children, with families and other members of staff on a daily basis to ensure effective team working. It also ensures any health and safety issues are recognised and reported. People communicate with each other for different reasons;
The Three Gorges Dam is an unfinished project which will be the largest dam ever constructed on the planet Earth. It is situated in China on the third largest river in the world – the Yangtze. The dam has been debated over since the 1919 and is still a hot topic of debate because of its many pros and cons. In 1994 construction began on the dam, and it is expected to be finished by the year 2009. The massive dimensions of the dam are mind boggling and its functions – if the dam actually works – are truly remarkable; however, with such a large structure also comes difficulties, sacrifices, and cynics. The goal of this essay is to lend an understanding of the dam itself, the prospective benefits of
The wonderful thing about communication is that it’s a skill that we can improve on. We can address subpar qualities in the way we communicate and we can make a conscious effort to develop and progress. While I reviewed the list there were two competencies that stood out as areas of opportunity. The first was combating the effects of the various types of physical, psychological, and semantic noise that distort messages. In my opinion, I think this is something that many of us could try to improve upon. When you take the various types of “noise” into account it’s easy to see how they can impede one’s ability to effectively communicate. I will look for ways to decrease how noise reduces my ability to effectively communicate by raising my awareness to noise. For example, if I’m speaking to someone on a construction site I need to be aware that the literal noise from the machine can run havoc on our conversation. If I’m speaking to someone who
Good communication is also important to ensure that everyone is clear about their health and safety responsibilities. It ensures that workers understand the risk and why they need to be controlled. Employees must be consulted on health and safety matters, this is a legal requirement. Communication also is important for safety issues, this means that there are less accidents and injures to occur. Good communication ensures that the correct information is passed on; this means that mistakes are avoided. It also ensures that the procedures are followed properly.
The way in which I communicate either builds or can harm the relationship between my soldier and I. When an important moment of discussion arises, I am always prepared to appropriately handle the situation at hand. More than anything else, I believe as a leader it is always important to have great social skills in order to be communicative with clarity and objectiveness, and to have a good relationship with the ones I lead. As a leader, I understand the meaning of recognition and praise when one is doing a good job, which too is significantly important.
Communication is the foundation for sharing information between people to ensure that everything is understood and the correct action can be taken in a timely manner. Good communication is essential to complete the mission at hand. Without good communication to your chain of command it makes it impossible for your leaders to communicate to their superiors about problems or issues that you or others may be having. The (National Joint Committee for the Communicative Needs of Persons with Severe Disabilities, 1992, p. 2) defines communication as "Any act by which one person gives to or receives from another person, information about that person's needs, desires, perceptions,
