Life's Problems Life is full of problems, but how we approach those problems often determines whether we're happy or miserable. Bob Maynard says, "Problems are opportunities in disguise." If we approach problems with Maynard's attitude, we see that problems are really opportunities to learn about others and ourselves. They enable us to live happier and more fulfilling lives. Maynard's quote applies to all kinds of problems. I faced a problem just last week when our family's kitchen sink developed a serious leak. There was water all over our kitchen floor and piles of dishes to be washed. But our landlord was out of town for the week. I come from a big family-I have six brothers and sisters-so we couldn't afford to wait until …show more content…
Whatever kind of situation we face, problems give us the chance to learn and grow, both physically and mentally. For example, when I had a problem with my car and couldn't the repairs right away, my problem become an opportunity to get some exercise-something I'd been waiting to do anyway. I had to walk a mile each day to get to the bus stop and back. But in the meantime, I got the chance to start getting back in shape, and I saved a lot on gas. I've come to realize that problems are really part of what makes life worth living. Problems challenge us and give us the opportunity to do things we've never done before, to learn things we never knew before. They give us the chance to surprise ourselves. Just the word "problem" can send some of us into a panic. But problems can be good things, too. Problems are situations that make us think and force us to be creative and resourceful. They can also teach us things we didn't know before. For example, I had a problem in school a few years ago when I couldn't understand my math class. I started failing my quizzes and homework assignments. I wasn't sure what to so, so finally I went to the teacher and asked for help. She said she would arrange for me to be tutored by another student who was her best student. In return, though, I'd have to help that student around school. I wasn't sure what she
Life is like an obstacle course, you run into multiple obstacles on the way to the finish line, and there's no telling how many hindrances you may encounter. Very few people can go their whole life without obstacles along the way, others can’t seem to get away from them, but with every obstacle comes a beneficial or deleterious concomitant.
If we look up and see the world around us, you will notice there are other people who are in worse situations than you are. Hence, you will feel that your problems are not as big as you considered them to be. If you feel that you are facing hardships and big problems, try to understand people who are going through a greater hardship. In this way, you will develop a confidence that your problem is smaller, and you will be able to tackle it
Everyone has struggles. Many teenagers struggle with self-esteem, stress, bullying, body image, drinking, and smoking. Many adults struggle with marriage, jobs, money, drinking, smoking, health problems, and stress. There is not one person that has an easy life with no struggles because it is impossible. Having struggles teaches us life lessons.
Some people think that when you have a problem you just have to deal with it and carry it on your back until you can find a solution to it, but they are wrong. That is not the only way you can solve obstacles in your life. You can always choose to turn the bad things inside
Why do difficult challenges exist? There seems to be no point in hardships, they just cause pain and sorrow. But after a hardship, everything seems brighter, you are grateful for everything and your eyes are opened to a completely different perspective. Hardships are challenging but after overcoming hardships, you will be satisfied with excellent results.
In life we may go through hardships that take us down a path that benefits us in the future and make us stronger individuals. These hardships can influence a person’s life by making us face obstacles we don’t want to face and
One place where Horace’s quote holds true is in current events. In the national news there is misfortune and chaos seemingly everywhere. A first example of this is with Hurricane Harvey, hitting Texas and the surrounding area, in August-September 2017. This category 3 hurricane has been one of the worst and most destructive hurricanes to hit the United States. Texas and Louisiana flooded, causing billions of dollars of damage and nearly a hundred lives to be lost. Despite all of this, the citizens of the community came together to volunteer and help each other, and it revealed their spirit and resilience. Just like the quote, adversity brought out the best of Americans and tested their strength in a way that would not happen if Hurricane Harvey hit them. A second example is with the Vegas shooting which happened October 1st at a concert, leaving 58 deaths and 546 more injured, making it America’s deadliest shooting. Following the tragedy, it gave anti-gun activists opportunity to fight for stricter gun control. Also this incident, like with Hurricane Harvey, has brought the country together, supporting the victims and their families, and wanting to stop the violence and hate in America. It shows that misfortune can play a positive and influential role.
Duke Ellington, the legendary jazz pianist, said that a problem is a chance to do your best, and I agree with him. When people learn from their problems, it can help them in many ways. They can learn how to do things better in the future, they can learn more about themselves and what they like or dislike, and they can even be used to help someone who is having trouble with the same issue(s).
We are often exposed to face daily obstacles in our lifetime, however as much as these obstacles seem to have an appearance of bad luck, they can sometimes be turned out to help us in our advantage. These impediments often help us find another solution for complications that we have no power over, like my mother always said, “When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.” Therefore, whenever I am involved in a specific hurdle I tend to make the best out of whatever I can. I believe that by having these certain complications in your life, you are taught to overpower these difficulties, become a stronger individual, and also to become independent.
I do believe that any obstacle or disadvantage can turn into something good. I know this because people learn from their mistakes. Some people give up or lose hope when they are encountering an obstacle. Anything can be make up by thinking or a wise decision.
I believe that any obstacle or disadvantage can be turned into something good. I believe that this is a very important topic because there can always be a positive outcome of any obstacle or disadvantage. This is very important because you will not be able to succeed in life if you do not know how to problem solving. So can any obstacle or disadvantage be turned into something good?Yes because if you really want to succeed you will find a way to get around the obstacle or disadvantage.
I believe it to be true of the whole human race that when something pushes you down you look to find a way out of it. We always try our best to overcome adversity and that can make us stronger. In many cases the workers that a lot of us pay to clean and cook are faced with adversity from the start. As young kids growing up having very little it’s difficult to get out of
When people are struck with hardships in life, the way they react reveals their true character. Having a certain mindset can greatly influence how they handle problems, differentiating one person from another. Many can feel discouraged and feel like giving up when they hit a rough patch. In other cases, the will to be in a position better than where they are at the moment gives them the motivation to succeed. Adversity can have a positive effect on the development of an individual's character, providing them with the drive to overcome their current situation.
I can remember as a child always asking myself the “why” questions of life. What is the purpose of life? Why are we here? What is the purpose of life? Why do certain things happen? And is there really a God? I had always kept these questions to myself and eventually pushed them out of my mind altogether. I was raised in a Christian household and you just were not allowed to ask questions of that nature and doubt the faith. The world is the way it is because God made it that way and that is all there is to it. I was really excited to take this class because it would finally give me the opportunity to exercise my personal thoughts and beliefs. I have come to agree with Socrates that “the unexamined life is not
