Australia’s wealthy economy conveys advanced, up to date medical and surgical technology, whereas Portugal’s technology has not been updated since 1988. Furthermore, Australia has more hospitals, 741 public and 525 private compared to Portugal’s 89 public and 82 private hospitals. Life expectancy in the human race has risen dramatically in the past century reaching its highest level for both male and female on record. Between 1981 and 2002 life expectancy at age 50 increases by four and a half years for men and three years for women and two years respectively. By 2002 women who were age of 65 could expect to live to the age of 84 while men could expect to live to the age of 81.
Also, the life expectancy is slightly lower in the United States being between ages 70-79 and Luxembourg being between ages 72-82. One of the main causes of death, in children under the age of 5 is prematurity, in both countries. At the top of the list for the main causes of deaths, in adults is ischemic heart disease in Luxembourg and the United States. In, Luxembourg heart disease was related to 0.3 thousand deaths in 2012, while in the United States 393.7 thousand people (World Health Organization, 2018). All of these show similarities and differences of the health of citizens in both
all U.K. citizens and has better health statistics. (Palfreman, Reid, 2008). According to the World
The United States has a life expectancy of 78 years old, Sweden has a life expectancy of 81 years. This is strange because America has to pay for its healthcare but we still die sooner. In Sweden, everybody is covered for healthcare, while 15% of Americans don't have healthcare. They have public hospitals that everybody goes to and everybody gets treated the same. There are rumors that healthcare costs so much more for Americans because we are to unhealthy here and we spend more time in hospitals, but we actually spend much less time in hospitals than in Sweden. Everything
Life expectancy, or the estimated years of life for a person or group of people, has increased over the years but it is still surprisingly lower than expected in places such as the United States. America ranks twenty-fourth on the life expectancy list under Japan, Australia, France Spain and Italy. What causes this disparity in the ranking and statistics in an advanced industrialized society such as the United States? There are major statistical factors that influence the United States ranking in world life expectancy, involving education level, poverty, race and gender. The diverse groups of people living in the United States affect the health statistics negatively, bringing in influences from education and income levels, race and
Having never been out of the U.S. before, Mexico sounds appealing to me. “Based on its cost, climate and culture, and other important considerations like access to amenities and healthcare, Mexico comes out consistently on top” (How to retire to Mexico: A complete guide). Mexico may not have been an obvious selection for American retirees and other global retirees, but it certainly caught my attention as I’ve researched possible destinations to retire.
The life span is on average 81.5 years in Ontario. Being heavier is more common in the indigenous community that non-indigenous communities. As well people that reside in the rural communities have a higher rate of illness and early death. They are not as active, smoke more, have minimal education, low income class status and have a harder time finding medical care.
In my comparison, I will use France, Japan, Sweden and Canada, which rank 1st, 10th, 23rd and 30th, respectively. France tops the WHOs list for health rankings and has universal healthcare largely financed by the Government and approximately 77% health expenditures are government funded. The most notable difference in the French system in contrast to the United States is cost regulation. In France healthcare costs are regulated by a governmental
The names of the countries are on the left and the different categories are on the top. The country that has the shortest life expectancy is Kenya. Their life expectancy is 53 years. That is 30 years less than the Average life expectancy in the united states. It is 40 years less than the average life expectancy in South Carolina. The country that has to walk the farthest is Africa. They have to walk 3.7 miles just to get to a water source that isn't even clean. It would take them about an hour a day just to walk there at an average speed. Without shoes it would probably add an extra half hour to your time. It would take them an hour and a half just to walk there. There and back it would take them about 4

Two other aspects in the health category are life expectancy and infant mortality rates. The United Arab Emirates has a life expectancy rate of 76.96 years and an infant mortality rate of 12.7%, which this mortality rate seems high, but sadly are much higher ones out there. Oman has a life expectancy rate of 76.59 years and an infant mortality rate of 16.8%, a little higher than the UAE’s. Saudi Arabia has a life expectancy rate of 75.50 years and an infant mortality rate of 11.5%, a little lower than the UAE’s. But when comparing the UAE to countries like Brazil and India, they are lucky. India’s life expectancy is 66.21 years, which is the lowest of all six of the countries that have been compared throughout this paper, and an infant
