Letter To Putting Parents In The Classroom

Some students are more involved than others. Because I am like a “reading teacher”, I don’t really interact with a lot of parents, but sometimes a parent will just want to know how their child is progressing.

My Parent Involvement Philosophy; parent involvement is crucial force in children’s development, learning, and success at school and in life. Parent involvement means the participation of parents in regular, two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities including ensuring that parents play an integral role in assisting their child’s learning; parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education at school; and parent involvement and communication is crucial to a classroom. The pigs exemplify the Bolsheviks and the rebellion exemplifies the Bolshevik Revolution. In the book there was three times when the pigs symbolized the Bolsheviks. The first time that shows the pigs being symbolize as the Bolsheviks is when they bend the rules to get it their way. The second time that shows the pigs symbolizing the Bolsheviks is when they use fear to get to the top. The third reason shows how the Bolsheviks acted like the pigs and vice versa.

The use of volunteers like parents or community members can help relieve some responsibilities that are on many teachers or administrators plates. This can allow teachers and administrators to focus on student learning.

It’s widely recognised that the more involved parents are in their child’s education, the better the pupil performs at school. Whether, it’s just being aware of their progress and understanding their achievements or parents taking a more active role and becoming involved with the school itself.

When Initially planning a parent/ carers teacher conference concerning a child’s performance in the classroom. It is essential to be prepared and show sensitivity towards parents and children. As a kindergarten teacher and mother of 1, I understand the anxiety parents feel in regards to their children and their achievements. We as educators need to address professional standard 3.7 Engage parents/carers in the educative process this can be achieved by describing a broad range of strategies for involving parents/carers in the educative process (AITSL, 2010).

Communicating effectively with parents and students is important in order to be successful at teaching. Studies have shown that parental involvement in a student’s education allows for greater success in the classroom (Duarte, G, Cerda-Perez, E & Rosenberg, G 2007). Technology is beneficial in communicating with students and parents. The use of technology allows for students and parents to have access to current lesson plans as well as access to the teacher after normal school hours. This opens up doorways for the student or parent to ask questions about assignments and class discussions.      Once there is a clear and open path for communication, it is important to make the communication meaningful. Often parents aren’t involved because they are not aware of ways that they can help. Keeping parents informed of upcoming tests, projects, homework assignments, and areas of study give them some knowledge about what is going on and also makes them feel like they are capable of helping and can be an asset to their child’s education. It may also be helpful to suggest ways that parents can aid their child in preparing and studying for tests. Helping parents feel useful creates an essential cooperative learning environment.
