The Letter to the Ephesians is most well-known for its description of Christ and the Church. Paul speaks of the Father's plan for salvation, the Church as the Body of Christ, unity of the Church in Christ, along with the acknowledgment of Jesus as One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism, and One God. Paul outlines the five-fold ministry and details the purpose of each leader’s role. He calls for ministry leaders to lead by example, in other words, shepherd those under them. Christians are expected to exemplify living holy through their daily conduct, as children of the light. Finally in the letter's passage, Paul compares the relationship of Christ and the Church to the matrimony relationship between a husband and wife.
The three phases of our salvation are justified, sanctified, and eternalized. Justified implies that God reversed the guilty sentence that was positioned on our lives through human conception. Ephesians illustrates the church as a vital organ within God’s body. Studying human anatomy reveals that there are certain parts that must be in place for the body to function properly. The eternal purpose of God is to rule from the heavens above, which is at the top. In this particular letter, Paul proclaims Christ as the head of the church; which is considered to be a living organism. Ephesians talks about God’s plan of redemption by uniting all things in Christ. Apostle Paul challenges us to turn away from our lower selves and inspires us to seek our highest potential in Jesus.
