Leonardo de Vinci was a great artist even from the time he was merely a boy. He had a brilliant mind and was one of the smartest people who have walked the face of the earth. Vasari said, “Truly marvelous and celestial was Leonardo, the son of Ser Piero da Vinci; and in learning and in the rudiments of letters he would have made great proficience, if he had not been so variable and unstable, for he set himself to learn many things, and then, after having begun them, abandoned them.” Leonardo de Vinci was a skilled artist, who could draw, sculpt, paint, and was even skilled in musical instruments and singing. Knowing that he was very skilled, Andrea stressed to Leonardo’s father to get him to studying art. So, shortly after de Vinci started working with Andrea in his work shop, which Leonardo was thrilled do to so. He studied all forms of art that included drawing. He tells us how amazingly talented he is and about all of his great accomplishments. “The loss of Leonardo grieved beyond measure all those who had known him, since there was never any one who did so much honor to painting”, said Vasari. He also lets us in on the notion that even da Vinci himself was not a confident enough artist to finish all of his works. I believe that the author respects him for this, but that there is a little bit of a disappointment in this incompleteness. He wishes that Leonardo would’ve finished these works of art because he knows that he is good enough to do so. I agree with Vasari in this opinion of da Vinci. I too, believe that if anyone was good enough to complete a masterpiece in its entirety, it would be Leonardo de Vinci. He was and still is one of the most well known and talented artist of all
